When you say the Tundra felt "big" how does that compare to how the current Tundra drives? Does it feel bigger. That's the second time I've heard it felt big, but I haven't heard how big it feels compared to the 2.5 gen.

I finally got to drive one and it's nowhere near what the 21 was. I loved the 21 driving dynamic. It could turn on a dime. The 22 is just like the big 3. It has a long nose and the radius is worse. You can't cut sharp like the 21.

One of my favorite things about my truck. It drives much smaller than it is. Very helpful on pavement and off.

Yup. Biggest adjustment I had to make. My first drive with the f150 I had to do a 3 point turn because I was in my tundra mindset and mistakes were made

22 is just different. It drives big but feels small inside. I honestly keep talking to dealers about ordering one but just keep flashing back to the experience. I love quality and reliability but not if I’m going to hate driving it.

ya, not doing anything until I test drive one sometime, Im in no hurry.

watching Tims latest video about the infotainment unit has me also concerned.

but so far, it's lower, it's tighter inside, drives bigger, the bed is smaller, and the software is buggy and it costs as much or more than the others.

Do you think part of that big feel is the tall, long hood that initial utubers talk about and the limited sight over it?

It also has a fully boxed frame, drives more comfortably (if that matters to you), is more powerful in general, is more efficient when not towing, and tows much better particularly at altitude.

But based on how I use my truck and what I want out of it, I’m staying put with my ‘21.

    thats better, lol.

ya, I really want a better ride at this point, as I got older Im less into the off-road big Load e tires, etc and more into wanting a nicer ride while still being able to do normal 1/2 ton duties.

my truck rides like shit on these roads, I have 250 lbs of sand in the back, roads are terrible and Im tired of getting my teeth rattled.

Thanks for this observation. It means alot to me.
3 weeks ago I was excited to see this 2022 truck and the possibilities. I even started the thread on whether I should trade my 2018 in.
Now when I get a call from the dealer to finally go see one, i will still go see it, sure, but the expectations are not there. Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised.
But....it seems from multiple observations that a lot of the aspects of my 2018 that I really like... the 2022 has either eliminated or made less appealing.

I agree with you and this is the reason what I waited for the Tundra as I was sure it's the wise choice. The deciding factor for me is the real payload, as 1400lb will not be enough for the TT I plan to buy and a family of 4 + bikes/kayaks. If payload would be not 1800 as they spec'd but at least around 1600 - would probably be a different story. Good luck with your truck!

Good luck on your search! If I needed at least 1800 lb payload and wanted a crew cab for the family, I’d be looking at an HD truck. GM gasser with the 6.6L. Cheaper than a 2nd or 3rd gen Tundra at this point. I’d probably get a commuter for daily driving. Right now though, I don’t tow anything heavier than a boat, and I’m fine with daily driving my Tundra and carrying a bit more than it's rated for when we’re camping or when hauling project materials. The 2nd gen has proven itself more than capable of hauling well over its stated payload.

I will go tonight to test drive a Limited Offroad and will update if driving dynamics are different than the base SR5

This is very true. Super hard coming from a Toyota to a Ford when parking. On turns I could always make in a parking spot now take a 3 point turn to accomplish.

^ He ordered a 2022 F150, and his posts reflect his opinion of f150 over a Tundra, which is fine if that is what he likes. But no idea why someone would be active on a Tundra forum for a truck they dislike

Stopped by my local dealer today and they had one. Parked next to my pro on 270/70/18's the new one looked smaller, but the exterior dimensions are bigger on the new one.

Yeah seems like it looks smaller and it definitely is smaller inside, but it doesn’t drive as small as the 2nd gen.

    Ordered a King Ranch today.

Been hanging out with you good folks for about a year waiting for the new Tundra. I was stoked about it and remained so until last week.

I started thinking about the tow hooks and worry that the Tundra wasn’t really designed to do truck things. It’s not so much the hooks themselves but what their absence may imply for the overall truck design.

My current Ford has 150k miles and has been pretty good. Guess I’ll stick with them.

Thank you all for your hospitality.

It’s been a good ride and I’ll miss it. I know Tundra owners whose vehicles have treated them much worse.

It didn’t go as I planned. My plan was to be in a Tundra. Maybe next time, but that’s the same thing I said 6 years ago.

You’re getting the statement confused. We’re talking about how it drove. The turning radius is worse and the extended front just drives large
