What I don't like is that a corrupt "file" can f__k up my transmission.

I assume the new Tundra is no different than the Ford ?? Somebody
Per that video I shared. That means all these new trucks are definitely get rid of before warranty expires for me.
And my Truck or vehicles i use for a purpose have never been that way for me.
So I am struggling with being dependent on that tech.

Have you ever put your phone SD card with thousands of pictures and videos into your laptop to move/share pictures,
and your laptop tells you its corrupt ?
    Please REFORMAT

That would be correct, that corrupt software or coding can essentially disable entire modern vehicles. Toyota seems to take a generic out of the box ready to go pre-programmed transmission setting. Whereas, Ford uses a transmission learning phase that the truck learns your driving style to optimize shifting, which also seems to be detrimental based on consumers feedback. Though I didn't mind it on any of mine. I will say my Tundra shifts very well, though likes higher rpms that I would expect, though I assume that is to utilize turbo boost more.

Nice. On its slide, though? The slide adds a little over an inch of height, and I only have about 1/4” clearance under the cover.
Careful. You start talking about the benefits of an older design, and feathers are gonna ruffle in this thread. You might even get called a fan boy, lol.

PS I imagine you two as twin brothers. Probably just because of the shared “borla” in your forum handles.

I am not sure I would want more cab than my current F150. When I first got into a Supercrew when I was shopping in 2014 I was thinking, what the hell is the point of having 12" of space between my knees and the front seat. I wish they made a cab that was in between a supercab and supercrew so that I could still have resonable leg room and a 6.5' bed, but not a 157" wheelbase. Maybe shave it down to like a 151". I think I could have just 6" between my knees and the front seat and live to tell about it.

Oh wait, I just described a Titan XD.

Any idea how old of a vehicle you'd have to buy to find one with no computers in it?

That would be a fundamental shift for them. Both my Tundra and my wife's Corolla will go into top gear at like 10 mph if you step on the gas gently.

Hah hah - so here's mine today. I chose the tonneau cover that sits on top because I am in a cold climate and I did not want the drain tubes freezing.

    @mass-hole
I used to have tools at two properties. It was a nightmare. Made the call years ago to keep what I needed in my truck - the list just grew.
I will never complain about giving me extra space. Just don't take it away. Bad Toyota ...bad.

The old car computers in the 80's and 90's are like CD players - they keep going as long as you don't drop them. Just hope you can find a control unit if something happens.

    Let me share something.

Last spring I called the local Audio Shop and asked them how much for one of those neat Kenwood head units.
I wanted a unit that integrated everything along with giving me auto climate control, get rid of the terrible Toyota Navi replace with Android Auto.
He looked it up and told me -

"Buddy your 2018 Tundra Climate controls are mechanical / analog. They are not compatible with digital plugs in the Kenwood Unit"

So at first I was disappointed. But now after seeing all these Head Unit issues on the new trucks/vehicles.
If they go they take everything with them. I will lose radio and nav.

On my wifes 2020 outback its all tech. No dials except for a couple.
The head unit goes everything goes.
So owners were complaining about needing to toggle a few screens before they got to the screen to turn the Auto Stop/Start off.
    It was very annoying.
After an oil change last fall my wife got the car back. She didnt notice.
On the home screen there was now an (A) icon. You can push it to turn it off and on now from the home screen. So tech has some advantages for forward changes.
But the whole thing does still lag. They keep doing updates to speed things up.

The other thing is the electrical drain in the new cars.
All Auto Stop Start Vehicles have these huge batteries now to deal with all the electronics and auto stop start drain.
Make sure your wife doesn't leave the cabin light on over a few days. The drain is fast It will cost you $400-500 for a battery.
Don't ask me how I know.

I do utilize the cab often. I carry lots of gear that needs to stay climate controlled during my commute to work. But I think I could make 6" less in the cab work just as well. Call it the Standard Crew w/ 6ft bed. Right between DC w/ 6.5ft bed and CM with 5.5ft bed. Not that it will ever happen. Toyota hates giving us options

Very interesting. So you are saying the Ford will change to your driving style, but the Toyota you get what they programmed. No learning ?
So what happens to the Ford if there are two main drivers, different driving styles, equal driving time ?

I am not positive on the Toyota TCM strategy, that would just be my assessment from 3 weeks of ownership. Separate keys will load different profile is my understanding, but never tested or had that verified. I've always had 99% of drive time in my vehicles so don't quote me on that.

Tundra's transmission has been has adaptive since 1st gen. I'm not sure why the '22+ wouldn't be.

Passed an eco-boost with turbo failure last week climbing up the pass pulling camper, while I cruised on passed @75 with 10,000lbs tied to the back of the big green Tuna!

Love this truck.. I work it weekly, and always performs flawlessly.. except for the trailer brakes.. which yet to completely narrow down the issue. I’ll stick with Tundra for resale and reliability, until I decide to step up to 3/4 or 1 ton diesel.

how do you know the ecoboost had a turbo failure if you cruised past at 75mph?

I was nice and pulled over… I was a mechanic before changing career’s..
Noticed it was smoking as I was gaining on him.. then hands went in the air as I was beside me and lost all boost..

so you didnt cruise past at 75?

Turbo failures are not a common thing on ecoboosts. They have other issues, but not turbos usually.

As much as I want one I just don't see the price tag a pro will be asked for. Although the mag gray on them looks nice.

I would much rather have a sequoia for that money than a tundra pro, I just don't get the entire Pro thing. It a limited with some shocks, doesn't even have all the nicer shit that a platinum does.

    but thats just me.

I may bail on the tundra and try one or see if the 2023 tundra has the bugs worked out. then again, is the sequoia going to be bug city too, LOL.

I think it has enough nice stuff. Finally got vented seats, digital mirror, memory seats. Plus for me the pro I don't have to touch. Throw some steps and cover and I'm done. I wish like the sequioa pro, the tundra pro got the rear sunshades though.

    @Breathing Borla

I found a GMC dealership offering $2500 off msrp to order a Sierra 1500.

Don't worry I inquired for you if it applies to the AT4 diesel or AT4X and what the turanound time is.

In 7 years time we will be on F150 Lightning Version 5, and Toyota will not be making the current Tundra anymore unless they introduce an EV Tundra.

The bigger worry IMO will not be my warranty claims being covered, but whether I will still be able to drive my gas truck due to - gas prices 1) cost to produce and 2) added Govt taxes within the price to get people to ditch them, along with Huge EV incentives too hard to ignore coming, once the grid is ready. And I am sure other reasons will pop up soon as the EV tech is changing so fast.
