based off my last adventure, I would stay with a base 5.0 or standard EB for the Ford. Im out on the Ford.

its either tundra or another Ram now.

but I totally agree, toyota needs to get it together for me to buy another one, Im watching all the gen 3 threads closely to trying and get comfortable, but damn, its one thing after another. That gas gauge, bed rattle, and wind noise just has to be fixed, Im not willing to roll the truck lottery for those issues.

The turbo fiasco seems to be behind us

I'd the baby duramax GMC if it was available in the AT4X. AT4X seats are supreme, the rest of the line up is straight trash. Titan has amazing seats. Pick one of those up before the line up is gone?

More than just gas gauge, bed rattle and wind noise for me... You saw my other post (Am I too demanding!?), which is why I'm looking at other brands now. I know they have lots of Dodge RAMs on the lot, may go take a look at that as well!

But I've looked at the Tremor, it's definately a nice truck, unfortunately doesn't come in PowerBoost, but it does have the 2kw generator, which is better than the 400W that's standard!

That's interesting because my brother hates the seats in the new Titans. He much preferred the previous gen.

A 3.0 Dmax with the max tow or diesel offroad package to get the 3.73 gears would be a great platform.

The only issue I have with the 3.0 right now is that you cannot combine the max-tow and offroad package so there is no way to get both max-tow and the 2 speed transfer case.

My '21 Titan XD seats are the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in, matter of fact, the entire interior is way nicer than my last GMC 2500 Denali and puts my two current Toyotas to shame.

Yeah, GM really likes to limit your options. I believe the only way to get the two speed transfer case and max tow is with the 6.2.

That is a bit perplexing. I guess given a choice I would take the off-road package, but still weird you can’t get both.

What’s the max rating between regular and max tow? I’d agree I’d rather have the off road unless max tow is necessary for towing consistently.

Looks nice! (but, the pic does not show all the issues it may (probably will) have. Hopefully yours will be great. Hope Toyota gets all their issues worked by next year.

I think you can get the 2 speed actually if you spec a high country as it just comes standard regardless. But for all other trims it looks like you cannot get both max tow and a 2 speed case.

GCWR for a non-max tow is 15000 lbs. GCWR for max tow 17800 lbs. GCWR for max tow with 20" wheels is 19000 lbs.

So its pretty substantial, especially with the 20" wheels. More importantly it also increases the GVWR 100 lbs and the rear axle rating is bumped, along with stouter springs. I believe the cooling system may also be upgraded, but not 100% sure if the diesel specifically gets the upgrade as it may already come with it by default.

Even though I wouldnt ever be at a 19000 lb GCWR, just having the extra GVWR, RAWR, and cooling is important if you are towing a travel trailer or something.

Yeah we will see. Anything going wrong in the next 7 years/100,000 and it’s on Ford so I won’t lose any sleep over it.

Biggest bonus is the bump in GVWR and payload, in my opinion and the ability to get 3.42 rear gears instead of 3.23.

If they start going 250k miles with no major repairs, I’ll start looking really hard at them when it’s time to buy again.

nice truck _ i hope you don't mind me using it for comparison.
    Mine is always dirty.
When my son in law was at the cabin two weeks ago with his 2022 F150 Limited we compared truck dimensions.
The F150 is boxy and gives the illusion of a bigger cab - until you open the doors on the Gen 2 and look inside.
Specifically in the areas with the arrows. He was surprised.
And then I rolled down the rear window.
    What ?
Hey mine's a 2018 his is 4 years newer and still doesn't do that.
Its a limited so it should have all the goodies.
The GM Diesel I guess is a loss leader.

I was surprised how much smaller the gen 3 felt inside. more of a cockpit type feeling, and the rear is tighter for sure with the 2" less headroom.

but I still liked it, I don't like the almost 5" longer to have smaller interior size, that I don't get

I don’t mind at all. Mine is almost never clean either. She looks like this (below) far more than she’s clean.

I like the interior space, but I would have gone for a middle-ground cab size if it were available. 6” less rear leg room than the crewmax with a 6” longer bed (6ft bed). I think Toyota could have sold a ton of those if they made them. There are probably a lot of us who didn’t necessarily need the crewmax, but needed more rear legroom than the double cab offers. Wish the ‘22+ had this option…

I really do value the short nose and turning radius. Extremely functional for the places I go. And the bed depth allows me to fit a CFX 55 on its slide under my tonneau cover. :headbang:

I felt like the 22 had more headroom becasue the seat adjustment could go lower. Rear head room was worse with the pano for sure though.

for what its worth, even with the shallower bed depth, when I test drove the 22, I measured my lifetime 55 cooler and it would fit under a tonneau still to. thats key. my older tundras wouldn't do that with the shallower beds
