with '22 Tundra you will need to adjust your garage front tire stop - big time.
    just saying.....

A piece of wood or brick for the front of tire to bump against especially in tight situations.
Some use a hanging tennis ball to the windshield.
I don't park my truck inside a garage. But if I did I would need a front tire stop.
The distance from the front of the 2.5 gen vs 3.0 gen to their front tires is quite the difference.
2.5 gen is very short. 3.0 is very long in comparison.
    See the pic I posted.
This also imo tells us why and how the cab and bed had to shrink on the 3.0.
When you add that much length to the front, its gotta be made up somewhere as you are not going to make the truck a foot or more longer.
Also In the side picture you posted of the F150 in the garage looks fairly short from front of the tire to front of the truck.
It looks well proportioned. My opinion is the Tundra has too long a front end now.

ok I see. I just use my built in parking sensors now.

but ya, Im not sure the new tundra is going to fit at almost 5" longer than the one I have now.

Ok, took the F-150 back and drove my tundra back home.

I have to say, I see why they sell so many of those, nice rig. The power in the powerboost is just nuts, my tundra felt like I was crawling when I got back in it to go home, wow. The torque rush is immediate, flat, and continuous. Between how easy the powertrain moves that truck and how quiet and smooth riding it is, it damn hard to keep it down at the speed limit, I kept looking down like holy shit, I have to slow down.

On the not so sure about it’s the engine starting and stopping at stops, you can feel it clunk back on when you start to go again, not a deal breaker but something I am just not used to or sure about.

The trans was just “ok”, not really that smooth, but it was a brand new truck and its cold out here, so not sure what my final opinion is on that. It does shift fast when you ease the pedal down. My Ram ZF 8 is still the benchmark for me, that was like butter smooth.

The ride quality is really good, WAY WAY better than my current 2016 tundra, just way less axle hop. Small bumps were a little more springy than I was expecting but still really nice riding truck. Interior is really quiet, much more than what I have now.

Driving position was really nice, adjustable pedals, I can see why people like those. Seat is like a nice big chair sit up tall for us taller guys, headroom is great and you don’t have to bend in half to get into the truck nearly as much as my current tundra. The flat floor in teh back is really nice, I can see why people like that, makes what I have seem stupid.

Tech, well it was a XLT model but still had nice stuff. The zone lighting is really cool and the work surface is great, super cheap and nice option there. The stereo sucked, but I’m used to my tundra system which isn’t really fair to compare against. The nice big integrated screen was nice and apple car play wireless worked perfect, Fords system is fast and works nice. Heated seats were super hot, had to turn them down actually.

I was expecting the powertrain to be a little smoother in all conditions than it was, but again the trans only has like 40 miles on it or something.

MPG on about 20 mile test drive all kinds of driving and dusting a ram behind me from a light was 21.8 which is really amazing on a new truck, cold weather, winter blend fuel, My tundra is getting 12-13 right now. I could see exceeding the EPA rating when its summer blend, truck is broken in, etc if you wanted to.

The bed step and handle I thought was lame but man, it works great and holds me well (Im 6’3 285). The bed tools (phone holder, tape measure, generator ) is simply top notch.

I did find a dealer that’s going to let me test drive a 2022 tundra crewmax, so then I can compare the two.

I did sit in a lariat ecoboost they had there and it was pretty damn nice inside seats were comfy. If I go the ford route Im waiting for the black appearance package to nuke all the chrome which comes out sometime soon they told me.

Doesn't the Sport package do that or did they get rid of that option?

not sure, but the black appearance goes inside and out and nukes all the chrome, its new this year. I think there is still chrome on the sport, not real sure yet. I would be getting a lariat if I got the ford route.

My next door neighbour has an XLT Sport; if I had to guess, it's probably about a 2016. No chrome on the outside that I can see. I haven't seen the inside.

I have all the confidence that Toyota will (finally) work out all of the issues. I have owned 5 F150s-2005-2010-2011-2016-2017 (slow learner) Ask me why I owned 2 model years so close together lol. I do believe that F150 is the best looking half ton made and does have great features but man the issues I could write a book. I know Tundra looks pretty sad right now, but just wait. Hope they do something w/that front end (butt ugly imho) next year or two. BB if you do buy the Ford, I wish you all the luck and enjoy the truck and please keep us updated on your experience.

Ya either way I’ll stick aroud the tundra forums, I’m a tundra guy all the way but I tend to wonder sometimes to try new things , (2013 ram sport ). I was on tundrasolutions in 2000 with a 2000 tundra I got in late 1999, still on that site 22 years later lol.

Damn that ram with a 350 hemi and borla had the best sound ever, pure throat coming out the duals

I may try the ford , not sure , have a test drive of a tundra soon , gonna be a tight garage fit , it may not go and then it’s out

As demonstrated by Tim at Pickup Truck and SUV finding any 1/2 ton with much more than 1500lbs of payload is like finding a unicorn.

Frankly if you need more than that, in this day and age you should just buy a 3/4 ton. If Toyota made an HD pickup that would solve a lot of problems for Toyota truck fans. At least assuming they didn’t botch it like the Gen 3 Tundra so far.

Yup. I had the same experience. And actually I'll say the Tundra is a better ride quality, so its better there, too. But for standard features and arguably the optional features too, its a no brainer win for Ford.
