IMO - Alot if private. Not bad if a Toyota Used dealer with a buyer. Do Lexus and Toyota share the building. that would matter
Regarding my previous remark at reliability. Pre covid alot of replacement part labels for my trucks said Made in Japan.
All parts I buy now unless a scare/rare part say Made in China, Malaysia, Indonesia, ... name the country.
Its a level playing field now. Its more important I think if you have a service dept you trust and like.

Like my wife, PILING on tons of miles!
Frankly, you'd get a good number for a mint 4R with low miles. They hold value. But why would you want a smaller turbo version of the exploding 3.4L engine?

I wasn't interested in it in 2022 (and rightly so in hindsight). But a MY25 should have the bugs worked out. I don't know, her ORP is set up just how she wanted it, BP-51s, roof rack, tires and wheels. But she likes the look of the GX, if I can spend $20k to make the swap I might do it.

I thought the GX was new in 2024 not 2022?
We looked at the GX and LC, but doors were kind of small and didn't open far enough to make getting Doona baby seat in and out. GX felt like it had more power over LC. Both cool looking rigs though.

Yeah I was just saying I would not buy the 3.4 in 2022. But might consider it by MY25.

I'm concerned with the small size too, does not seem to gain much in size vs T4R. The LC is a TT 4 cylinder right?

2022 wasn't the first year of the engine by Toyota/Lexus, but we've beat that horse

LC is turbo 4, with hybrid assist. On paper its similar to GX power, but in driving its not. Ended going with Sequoia b/c wife wanted something bigger. I wasn't about to get a Tahoe for a few reasons, even though it has way more space. So I pretty much doubled down on my blackjack hand and split a pair of 6s. We shall see how it goes

Oh yeah, there were failures in the LS all the way back in 2018 right? :anonymous:

I like the Sequoia on paper, but don't care for the how they look. But I don't like the look of the Tundra/new Tacoma either. The Yukon has my wife's attention as well, I'd get the 3.0 if we opted for that.

Yeah I thought about the 3.0, but her driving wouldnt be suited for it. Driving short distances around town arent ideal for a diesel. The new 3.0 is much improved from reports, and in 2025 you can get it on z71 or AT4 trims

My neighbor just got one in his truck and has been very happy with it. What is the recommended minimum distance/run time they like?

I don't know if there's a minimum distance per say. But from what I read, short trips and just around town aren't as good for its health as longer commutes and highway driving. Has to do with engine temps and ability to regen and burn cleaner

Well I guess I mean, what's "short"? My wife drives to the office 30 min each way, 3 days a week. I don't know much about the new diesels, with the regen or whatever.

30 minutes is fine. Short would be my 3 mile commute. Mine would be a death sentence to a diesel.

Basically, you always want to get a Diesel up to temp under load. Idling to temp doesn't work. Diesels need to run and work.

I still wouldn't touch a diesel that has EGR or needs DEF. Those have gutted the reliability that made diesels desirable in the past.

I’m not concerned about extended warranties. My 2023 Tundra doesn’t have any extended warranties at all, but I’m confident it’ll reach 200,000 miles without major issues (it’s at 25,000 miles now). Best of luck with your Ford and your extended warranties.

Easy to find threads with many Ecoboosts with high mileage. Making a truck last is more about maintenance than brand.

Great point. Maintenance plays a very big role in vehicles lasting longer periods, but doesn't guarantee it. Then you hear about the car that went 500-700k and they just did oil changes and nothing else.

Haha. Yeah yeah. Just a funny statement to make. I'm sure the 102,000 owners who would potentially be on the hook for a $35k+ repair bill are pretty darn glad they've got a warranty. Not to mention the other more minor issues we've seen. Extreme confidence from @Kerktam to make it 200k :rofl:I love it

I got the extended warranty to 150k miles, some updates I noticed have changed the screens a bit over this past summer. I have 23k trouble free miles and it has been great so far. The engine clean up process happened in the factory in January - February of 2023. This is when they delayed production and worked the engine trash issue out. Anything made March of 2023 onward should be fine.

As far as the mileage issue, I much would rather have a Tundra with 200k miles than an F150 with 200k miles when it comes to resell time.

So I got a buy 3 get 1 free tire for the Powerboost. A teenager was fooling enough to slash a tire at the park in broad daylight while I was tossing the ball with my son, apparently not realizing there's cameras there, or that a popped tire makes an incredibly loud sound that can be heard from a distance. He was probably banking on walking away unnoticed through a whisper quiet hiss but instead the pop sounded like suppressed gunshot Level and the hiss was megaphone loud and he got immediate attention.

Was waiting until next year to get my General Grabber ATXs but now his parents will buy me one once police settle the restitution issues so I'm doing it now.

As far as full size pickup trucks.

    worst to best

Worst - Ford 150 Powerboost - hybrid - the one I am interested in and doing research on - LOL

    Then Tundra next worse.

    Silverado

F150 (not including Powerboost). So this is a good rating for a pickup truck.

Nissan - if you can find one.

    Ram 1500 - most reliable

And I understand these studies may look at the first few years and not long term ownership 10 years down the road. Most on here (not including me) flip vehicles every few years so IT IS relevant. IMO

all the rags and mags love the Ram 1500; all except their owners. To a Ram driver every truck on the road is better. i find that not relevant at all. The F150 is the most popular truck in America. The parts that go into it are the cheapest they can source. Ford needs to improve their suppliers to improve the product.

I know 3 guys including my next door neighbor all have newer RAMS - I wanted to say Dodge.
They all love them. Just saying.
Show us how Ford gets parts that are cheaper than the others.
All I hear about the new Tundra is the cheap thinner plastics they use.
I just posted that all the parts I have bought for my Tundra and 4Runner all say Made in China, Malaysia or Indonesia.
No Japan parts except for the recent sunroof seal. Which I had to return because it was the inner rubber seal that is attached to the glass that was warped. You need to order a new bloody glass to fix it.

Good for you, I know a lot of Ram owners who trash the trucks. Drive them just cause they come with the Hemi. Out of the Big 3, GMC, Dodge, and Ford- the Toyota Tundra will be worth more when it comes to resell value. The Tundra is made in San Antonio and has as much USA domestic content as the F150. I have owned multiple Ford products including 3 F150s. I am familiar with them. The Toyota I like better but ymmv. I know there are Ford peps on here that love their trucks. Like you said if you flip a truck every 2-3 years then good for you. I hate truck payments and plan to have my paid off in 18 months. I could pay it off now, but it depreciates, and I have a low interest rate. If you want to keep your Truck long term then a Tacoma or Tundra is a much better choice than a Ranger or a F150.

This from some dude who bought one F150, I have owned 2 Raptors. The Raptor is the GOLD standard of Trucks right.

I now drive a Tundra TRD OR limited, so what does that tell you? I turned down a Gen 3 to purchase the Truck I drive. The $88k to $30-40k, 4-year depreciation is for someone else with a lot more money to handle. Someone say like Bannerdude.
