And a rod bearing or two. But you’ll get a new engine, guess all that low end torque is taking a toll on those rod bearings that can’t bear the load…

My Ford dealer called not long ago and suggested they may be able to get me out of my 2021 into a 2024 with very little out of pocket. Idonno if I even want to entertain it. I own an oddball and would want something very comparable. 6.5 ft bed Supercrew XLT high Powerboost with 7.2 kilowatt inverter and panoramic moonroof.

If they want to really square me away I expect that, don't put me in a
5.0 or standard Ecobolst xlt and try to tell me you did me a favor. Also as discussed here before They pulled features out since my year so I'd probably really need to be in a Lariat now.

Probably Gonna stick with my plan to monitor the new Ram Charger over the next 5 years until my extended warranty is up.

not surprising, Fords are pilled up more than any other , probably could score a huge amount off

What features did they remove in the new ones? My XLT is pretty solidly loaded up for a lower trim truck. I didn't look at any of the previous years.

Also, you take that part about the 5.0 back! :duel: The V8 is awesome! :D

I prefer the front end of the 21-23s. Plus they removed the good headlights from the Tremor so I’ll stick with mine at least until another refresh unless I jump to a 3/4

kinda agree , that platinum in the video is ok but getting close to Clark Griswald front end with the light stack and chrome etc

didn’t think you towed that often to warrant a 3/4 ton?

I thought this was dead as well...had a '24 Shelter Green Raptor and have since gotten rid of that for a '24 Platinum Tremor F-350 if you guys want to compare towing ability now....JK

    I can't help it if I'm r3tarded....

MSRP was $102,000 but I was not interested in that. It was about $90,000 after incentives, plus I got ridiculous trade in for my Raptor. Almost nothing out of pocket.

I see them-all trucks - as a marathon not a race and I keep them long term. So the V8 makes more sense to me. (less stressed-durability) Whenever youtubers I have watched go into the Ford Service depts and ask the mechanics what they prefer and would choose, the majority always say the V8.

    but

the Ford Pro Power on board is so very appealing to me. Being able to power my house and a remote lake property with my truck, and its only available with the Hybrid version. Its tech and utility is amazing. But having to rely on any current day dealer networks under warranty turns me off. And I refer to Toyota dealer service dept knowledge here, but assume it is the same with the Big 3 if not worse due to the volume of trucks.

This mechanic in the video being a Toyota guy bought a 3rd Gen Tundra and is looking for Youtube clicks on that series ….. fine. But in comparison he called the F150 "a Work Truck trying to act refined in Platinum trim". funny but appealing again for me because my truck is all utility for me. He called its engineering and design brilliant and contractor grade...but then contradicts this, by saying its not built for the long haul. WTH. How can contractor grade components not be built for the long haul? He needed to expand on this - he lost points with me here if he is reading this.

Fords tend to wear out within 5-8 years. They often develop rust, and rubber seals harden and crack over time. While they're tough when new, they deteriorate fairly quickly, even under normal use. Speaking from experience—my old company had several Ford trucks, and their max lifespan was about 8 years or 180,000 miles (usually requiring major repairs around 150,000 miles or less).

It's ok. You've almost switched trucks enough in the last few years to be Larry 2.0.

Yeah, but I also kept a car for 12 years and my first truck for 5 or 6. I'm a Larry 1.5 at best.

ok. So. there is no bigger chronic rust bucket than the 4Runner. Frame issues are very well documented. The body is great. There are many 4Runners driving around that look mint on the outside with frames about to fall apart.

We deal with the rust issue here with Krown Rust Control. A side effect of the Krown rust spray is that it softens and swells rubber. I guess this could be an advantage or disadvantage depending on the circumstance. Would it not be an advantage for the F150 based on what you are saying ?

So if rust proofing deals with the rust and softens and swells the seals preventing them from drying out, what other problems did you encounter ...I assume you are talking mechanical?

I was going to point out the Tacoma frame recall but didn't want to start another argument haha.

"Fords tend to wear out within 5-8 years." is such a broad statement that I didn't think it would be productive to engage him anyway.

And that is why those of us in the west never buy a car that was registered in ON.

Same concept as down here in The States; those out west don't buy from the Northeast or Upper Midwest areas. Rust belt vehicles don't last.

Used to be a problem because they didn't paint/coat anything. They listened to complaints and started coating stuff. Also, surface rust happens here in WY, but that's not the same as the cancer that a flood or salt belt car will get.

Every state should use sand instead of unclimate freindly chemicals and salt. If it was voted on, can't see anyone voting for rust. Go Sand !
