Yeah, your first introduction to the new car was when your parents brought it home. And riding in the “back of the truck” back then meant in the bed - and you loved every minute of it.

Class leading and you can see why. very nice.

Curious how the rear seat headroom compared to your 2021 Tundra ?

    *******************************

With less space in the back of the 2022 DC Tundra from the 21, the back seat is nothing more than an after thought. Looks like something from a parts bin. Unacceptable. A waste of materials. The front seats are even with the center console.

Toyota should have owned up to the lack of rear DC space with the new design and either carved it out so there is no seat in the middle and or just put in two jumper seats. Maybe the next version. I am venting a bit here because my interest in the 2022 originally started with thinking of moving to a DC with the 6.5 bed. That was short lived.

My 21 had more rear head room. It didn’t have pano roof obviously. I bet if the f150 didn’t have the pano it’s be the same as the 21.

I remember sleeping in the back window area of my dad's Pontiac Executive on road trips while my older brothers got the back seat. We were not so precious then, lol.

Ah yes, loaded in the pickup bed with 6 or 7 buddies on the way to practice. Not the smartest idea now when you think back.

If you think the DC buyer is on a tight budget and you think Toyota thinks this then remove the Crewmax back seat from the DC and knock down the price $500.
Most I know that own DC Tundra , do so because they like the Toyota brand, and use their trucks for work or serious hobbies.
The double cab fits their needs better. They do not need a Crewmax.
Has nothing to do with the price difference which is minimal considering the price of the whole truck.

Plenty of people that use a CM for work or "serious hobbies", it's called needing to haul more than 2 people with any sort of comfort.

Yeah, making assumptions about someone’s needs due to cab or bed size is ridiculous. I need to haul lots of stuff climate controlled. I also have three kids. I also use my 5.5’ bed A LOT…whether it’s for hauling materials (including 12’ dimensional lumber), dead deer, or camping gear.

People who think a long bed is a “real truck”…do you all hang drywall for a living or something? I don’t get it. Your truck is no more real and no more used as a truck than mine. :notsure:

I know 3 DC owners all 2.5 gens.
Two of them stick out like a sore thumb in cottage country where its all Ford and Chevy.
They are contractors with DC 8 foot beds and use them for work.
The 3rd guy with the DC 6.5 bed again a 2.5 gen has two ATV's for him and his buddy. They are stacked on the back.
None of these guys wanted a Crewmax. They didn't need it, but could afford it.
This is what I was referring to from my experience when I said work and hobbies previous post.

Its "ON da Bayou"....and my comment "SAD but TRUE!...the boiling frog is about done, and no one sees it!" has nothing to do with where one was born- the real question is Are you feeling OK this morning?

Actually it has everything to do with where someone was born when you use regional slang.

Are you ok? Why the personal attacks for no reason.

I remember when my dad bought his 2000 Tundra. I was a Junior in high school and about 6'3. I remember trying to convince him to buy a Chevy because I didn't fit in the back seat of the Tundra. They didn't have crew cabs back then, it was all just extended cabs, but at least the Chevy had a little bit of room. The Tundra had none and the back seat was straight up and down. I knew I would be riding in the back of that thing to the lake and stuff taking 4 hour trips or so. My opinion ended up meaning absolutely nothing and I learned to deal with it.

In my uncle's 1993 Dodge one ton, the passenger seat wouldn't even move forwards and backwards. The one time I had to ride in it when I was about twelve, I had to sit in the middle with my knees splayed out.

    reference to creeping normality.

Just more comfort quotes for boomers any time they perceive any sort of change in society that differs from their experience. "my parents never....."OMG people care enough about their family they include their comfort or usability in purchasing a house or car. It's just more of the same ole shit. "bAcK iN mY dAy"

I guess it was better than his Datsun that he had years before where there were just jump seats in the back and you sat facing each other. I know my sister and I used to sit back there and just kick each other all the time. Now I'm starting to realize how spoiled we are with our crew cabs.

In fairness to the boomers, I’m a millennial and still feel twinges of “back in my day” mentality. I also strive to provide for my kids in a way my parents couldn’t for me. And my parents did the same for me. That being said, I want them to be grateful for what they’ve got. My girls have a playroom half the size of the apartment I grew up in.

Bringing this back to the topic at hand. My parents drove me around in a couple of old Fords, and I want to do better by my kids which is why I’m driving a Toyota.

I'm not trying to take a stab at anyone but I had a shit childhood. And I still get shit from my family about how I raise my kids through emotional intelligence instead of spanking (for me beat). And it's prob my one "grind my gears" spot is when I have to hear about things back then and how people are today and "this why America is so messed up" rhetoric.

Back on topic. 21 F150 lariat sport for sale. Saw my first tundra in the wild. I'm sold.

Not only was the hump very prominent on the RWD cars of the day, oftentimes the padding for the middle seat was super thin or even raised a bit to accommodate the girth of the tunnel

I had a 2013 DC and the bed length and back seat space combination was perfect in my opinion. I agree with they are trying to push more people into the CM. For those that want a regular cab not being able to get one is a bummer.
