I have not seen too many family friendly manual cars lately.

I tried to buy a manual Chevy SS a year ago and missed it. Someone flew in from Cali and scooped it up while I was on my way to the dealer. That was about as close as I was gunna get to a manual family car, and it was like 10 years old.

15-1600lbs depending on how I have the trailer loaded, with me and wife on board. 1717lb payload per door sticker. Scaled weights and I use a tongue weight scale to determine tongue weight. I also added Supersprings which I know don't increase payload but help when we re loaded near max.

I was just yanking your chain. It wasn't my question originally.

I don't even think rear seats need to be heated, let alone vented/cooled. Kids deserve to suffer.

So a) I was being somewhat facetious and b) different tools for different jobs and c) people enjoy things differently?

I'd love to have my GT350 back for spirited driving and amazing sounds, but puttering around the city doesn't really allow you any of that. Whereas nauseating, break-neck acceleration provides plenty of opportunities in normal day-to-day driving.

I'm personally not very interested in shifting, double clutching, and smelling my exhaust fumes sitting in 5 mph traffic with a trailer in tow or ringing my motor out to 4200 RPM for ten miles up a mountain pass. I just want to be as comfortable with the most drama-free experience possible while towing.

For me it is an amazing feature. My last Tundra I put a seal between camper shell and cab and with the removable camper shell window had a weather proof big entry to the bed. Make an amazing spot for dogs that can get cool air from the truck on hot days.

I wish the Tacoma had that feature. I think the closest option is the Chevy electric truck that allows the rear plexi window to pop out and store behind the rear seats.

The tiny F-150 rear window is a deal breaker for me. Otherwise they are great trucks.

Poor ol’ Ford putting in work. Stuck in a huge mud pit. What a night we had.

Luckily we had a 200 ft steel chain and an F-250 for back up.

I think if I had a ton of room and a ton of money I would happily have another GT350 in the stable for the random nice days where I've got nothing else to do. But ultimately, after a lifetime of having project cars be my hobby, I decided I'd rather spend that time making memories with the wife through camping and that sort of thing. So truck and trailer takes up all the space and money.

But yeah, it's rare that I'm in a situation in my current life where I feel like it'd be better to have another hot rod.

Maybe again some day, but certainly not anytime soon.

Yeah, if I didn't have two kids in the back that would be great, but since I am on the lake and river, I still don't want my wet dogs in my cars. Hell, with three shedding labs I don't want them in the cab anyway, but it has happened a few times, and thankfully I have a heavy duty seat cover. Can't wait to get my new Leer shell installed, should be here in a couple weeks.

With 3 dogs and 2 kids, the Land Cruiser gets crammed on road trips. I use a Yakima two box Exo system for cargo.

One of the companies I work for has a huge Ford and Chevy fleet. The exec team has Raptor Broncos (meh) and F-150s. I really like the F-150s. Our fleet manager is constantly selling off low mileage Chevys to employees at low cost. The F-150s aren't being sold until they get a lot of miles.

I had such a bad experience with a lemon Mazda (rebadged Ranger) that I still hesitate to go back to Fords after owning so many trouble free Toyotas. We still have 3 Tacomas in the family, one with over 600k miles (2003) one with over 300k (2012) and my brother has a low 120k on his 2004. Just basic maintenance on all. My 88 FJ62 is close to 300k and won't die. Overall we have put over 2 million miles on our Toyotas and other than one Takata recall, one under lubed wheel bearing, a rattling airbag panel and a frozen caliper on my 200k+ mile 03 4Runner, just basic maintenance (belts, pads, fluids, hoses and seals on the older trucks).

My 23 Tundra has been great so far (6/28/23 build date) and I drive it hard, and have taken it offroad a number of times, mostly mild treks to get to some of my favorite backcountry areas, my built 200 Land Cruiser gets the nod on more technical trails. We'll see if the trend continues.

The engine recall issue sucks, but it is unclear how many it will actually affect. Toyota's ultimate response and remedy will make a big difference.

So does my 23. When I was looking, I wasn't seeing many left on lots with it deleted. Honestly, I don't even really like it or use it a lot - just not something I was willing to skip out of principle on such an expensive truck.

I did miss out on the bed camera. I thought about buying one because the wiring is there and it's easy enough to do, but I don't think I'd use it. I do use the rear camera at speed sometimes because I can see whether or not trailer straps are tight with it.

when I was shopping Ford in 23, I was originally looking at a lariat loaded up, but you couldn't get a heated wheel unless you added the high chrome package which was a hell no, I wanted the black appearance one.

so it was either chrome and a heated wheel (no way) or go up to teh platinum f-150 pwoerboost, then I think you could get a heated wheel with the BAP. Thats what took a shit on me, was a platinum powerboost.

I think the chrome versus black appearance was just coincidence or that specific lot's selection. As far as I know, it was temporarily eliminated from all Lariats due to chip shortages, then it was added back in for later production runs. I definitely found sport appearance and black appearance trucks without it when I was looking around, as well as chrome appearance trucks with it.

Interesting. I was actually considering trading in my 23 Ford for a 24 because they added more standard features to the Raptor, not took away. The only features dropped from my truck are 1)heated steering wheel, 2)advanced security pack, and 3)auto start-stop. Steering wheel, non-issue, I live in Georgia. Security pack, not even sure what that is. Auto start-stop, well that being left off is a win in my book.

When I bought my 15 and 17 Tundras, there was plenty of inventory, so relatively easy to find one optioned the way you wanted. Fast forward to 2020, no more inventory on lots, so you had to order everything. Sorry, Toyota can call it what they want, but I’m not “ordering” a Tundra knowing there is a strong probability I’m not going to get exactly what I want. Even looking at higher trims like Capstone or TRDP where there aren’t options, you can’t even guarantee you’ll get the color you want. To me, that is a HUGE fail for Toyota/Lexus.

So, I went to other brands. Now, Tundras are overflowing on the dealer lots with plenty to choose from, but call me scared, over-cautious, hater, or whatever, but no way I could gamble on a Tundra right now.

But, I enjoy reading this forum and staying somewhat informed, because you never know what the future holds.

Oh no, sorry, this was all before the release of the 2024 "refresh" F-150s where they started adding the stuff back.

That’s actually an older unit. It’s was giving us issues with the 4x4 engaging properly. That shit was like clay, it just clung to the tires. That unit has some tired ass Wildpeaks….

What had to deal with this situation prior to that. We were out in the mountains till 5 am, the fun started at 9pm. My Tahoe got stuck also. But I didn’t get no pics of that one. It’s the one that did the best overall. It got stuck pulling out the F-350.

When folks why would need a 4x4 in Florida, I ask, have you ever been stuck in sand? My back yard is sandy and when it doesn't rain can be difficult to drive on.

Never understood that either - 4WD isn't just for winter. I sank a dump trailer of stone in my yard once and just barely got it out in 4Lo with the locking diff engaged after it was emptied. It would have been hopeless with 2WD. Also had situations where I couldn't back up a steep gravel hill in 2WD and didn't have room to go forward to give myself a better start.

Mine is missing that too - my 2020 had it. It's motion sensors in the cab and inclination sensors. Whenever I shut the trick off, it would ask if I wanted to arm all or arm just the perimeter.

Sometimes I'd forget to unlock the truck before jacking it up and I'd set it off.

I could see it being a good thing in a higher theft area.

"You need a Tundra? You came to the right place cause Oh buddy we got Tundras."

Had time to roll through and see all the orange tag mark downs. Capstones, hybrids. All trims. I did not take an exact count and thought this was shared inventory between a 2 dealer chain but I don't think so. One location's site shows over 80 available and this one shows over 70. 150 trucks for the 2 locations to move and 2025s coming probably at the end of the Summer unless Toyota holds onto them for awhile.

8-12k mark downs. This is not a mega sized dealer so that seems like big inventory for them. By comparison the Ford dealer I used has 38 F150s available. Another I shopped at is showing 31. May indicate a tough year or two ahead for Toyota.
