I have enough money to pay cash for mine but the f150 is 0% and if I get the tundra my rate is 1.49%.

In 2020 I averaged 13% and in 2021 I did 22% return. ROI alone makes the car payment without giving up the principle.

Paying cash for a beater makes sense. Paying 50-60k cash doesn’t with bottomed out interest rates and pretty good returnable market

My ‘21 has the drivetrain tunnel and the weird shelf under the seat. It still holds tons of my stuff. Dog included. I might not like the way it looks, but one thing it does not lack is utility.

After seeing the image of the 21 that hump in the 21 is a baby compared to the 22. The 22 is way more significant and the rear seat storage sits significantly hire than the shelf. The 21 back seat is way more usable that aspect than the 22 can be.

Paying cash makes sense for me when its a 10 year ownership deal thing in mind. Thats what my 2018 Tundra is and was if anything happens prior. The new 2022 Tundra is a pure warranty play in my mind now - same as the Ford. It will be disposed of before warranty expires to not lose value. and i think the extended warranty is close to $5k in Canada. Add that plus paying MSRP ...holy moly.

No our economy is not better. My opinion. But its a fact our Schedule A banks are in charge and encompass the entire land coast to coast unlike the US. They charge higher rates. Our banks buy US banks. Some of you in the US if you are customers of TD. You know what the T stands for right? just saying. ..

From what I can see the car rates here reflect more reality unlike the total opposite with Canadian housing . But when housing mortgage variable rates catch up watch out....but this is about an f150 tundra discussion. lol

Yeah that seems worse with the storage bin. Is that removable? The tunnel seems a bit taller…like an inch in the pic

We all complained that we wanted lots of storage under the seat so they gave us a big storage compartment under the seat and now we complain that they didn't give us a flat floor. I do wish they gave us something like the Ram had where it had the storage compartment, but then it had a flap that you could fold down to make it flat all the way across.

Here is what my F150 can do. I think it's a 300 option? Still not completely level but not bad when down.

Is that a storage compartment under that ribbed section?

Ok but do the rear seat passengers sit with their knees in their chins or their heads scraping the roof?

I guess that gives you a choice of whether you want storage or a flat floor, but I'm not going to empty my storage out everytime I want a flat floor.

Known reliability? Toyota is the world leader in vehicle recalls. And when they launch a new truck it's always riddled with problems for the first few years. Remember the Tacoma frames that would fold like a cheap lawn chair, the 4.0L head gaskets that would blow, and the plastic beds that would crack in cold weather? Remember the Tundra AIP issues, engine leaks, and rear ends locking up? Heck just two days ago I saw a 2022 Tundra in the shop with the cab off the frame for turbo replacements. It's not like you're getting magic build quality with a Toyota. They are just like any other brand on the road.

Given the choice between 2022 trucks I'd go Ram six days a week and twice on Sunday. My next choice would be Ford...a very lightweight truck (good MPG) with a CHOICE of many engines and options, and none of the stupid $15k markup that Toyota dealers are doing.

Just have some kool-aid, man. Once you do, you will forget all about it.

Oh you forgot about the 3VZ eating head gaskets for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Knees no , head yes. I’m 6’3, and my head hits. I do have the pano roof tho. On the platinum tundra you do have a cavity that gives me like half inch of head room in rear but it’s the same outside that cavity as the f150 where I hit the roof

I'll also say I think the 22 Tundra rear seat bottoms are longer and the storage is a little wider.

Here is a good pic of that cavity. And yeah the seat bottom is definitely longer and the storage is a little wider. For some reason the in person hump looked bigger than these pics. idk .

One thing that's kinda funny that I can't tell if it's raised rear seating or the front seat backs are just that short. But if you compare the 22 Tundra front seat top to the rear seat it's shorter but in the 21 Tundra ,231 F150 and everything else the front seat top is level. Reminds me of stadium seating.

Yah I think you almost have to see it in person to understand the height and space differences compared to previous generation. I was genuinely surprised by the way the space was laid out even after seeing the pictures and vids before hand.

If anyone ends up creating a platform to flatten it out I would love to see it though. Maybe they will come out with a foldable platform in the future years?

There’s no magic to it. It’s all down to manufacturing philosophy and processes. Here’s a good video for you:

Regarding recalls, it looks like you’re trying to draw the kind of conclusion that this Forbes article says you can’t really draw.
    9F077CB0-4AB6-484A-B08F-D9EA1C8083AD.jpg
It doesn’t have any bearing on how reliable or safe a particular model is. It also doesn’t speak to how reluctant or how proactive a manufacturer is with their recalls. Toyota’s overall recall rate is actually lower than Ford’s.

Wonder who has the most class action lawsuits against them? Here’s a short list. Toyota has been sued more than Ford, but they have a much higher win rate. Ford’s win rate is abysmal at 33%.

I quickly skimmed this, but I think what you’re getting at is that Toyota is clearly more reliable than Ford.

Why would Ram mark their trucks up?? Hell they can't hardly give them away lol.. Why do you think pre-pandemic you could get $15000+ off Fiat/Ford any day of the week??

they sure sell a lot of them for something they cant give away. I liked mine.

in a lot of ways they have a level of function that toyota just cant seem to figure out, especially little things, storage, lighting, utility, etc.
