for $80k US dollars do they at least now come with Toyotas Torsen Full time 4wd system ?

I am very familiar with 4auto systems in the GM, Ford and Jeep.
If anyone hasn't experienced it yet, take a test drive in a Toyota vehicle with the full time 4wd system.

Did you consider the GX550 ? There is a price difference of $1500 between these two.
Lexus has published articulation numbers for the first time in history (for Toyota).
The GX550 numbers blow out previous versions and are better than the Land Rover with the new Lexus KDSS suspension.
But it is a serious pig on gas in town for some reason. 8^0

    _________________________________________________

If Lexus (owned by Toyota) can make a vehicle in 2024 with such low MPG ratings...
Why Toyota...why can't you just add the 5.7 to the Tundra as a (sub) option, and/or the Torsen Full time 4wd which will take 1 mpg off the rating?

There are two or three in my area. One dealer is asking $80, another about the same and one has it on FB marketplace low key for $100k!

LC is strictly a flip. I’d choose the OT+ over the LC all day every day

    Great choice for a flip.
Lots of guys running around with woodies trying to get a vehicle with those words on the side and on the back of it.

Land Cruiser hasn't been available in Canada since 1996.
We had to pick the Lexus version.

Guy at work has a lifted one like that with a supercharged Chevy 350 in it. Pretty awesome. Always makes me laugh the LandCruiser crowd as soon as they need a new engine they always pick a GM/LS something.

I think the LS swap is probably the easiest hence why more use it, in many other vehicles too. But you'd think people would start putting the iForce 5.7 in the 80s LCs for the power and reliability.

Once you engine swap, it kinda doesn’t matter any more. So many people have done the LS swap; it’s a tested method at this point.

The chevy engines are also more easily customized and a LOT cheaper comparatively. A reman stock 3UR-FE is $7500. You can get 450HP LS long blocks for half that. Still need other parts; sure, but the GM v8s are pretty solid aside from the active fuel management crap.

No, I totally get it. Every point is very valid. I just thought Toyota purists would want to keep a Toyota powerplant.

I’d want to keep it all Toyota… That would be freaking awesome with a 5.7 supercharged.

A LS V8 with no DOD/AFM are about as good as you can get from several aspects, meaning cost, availability, parts, performance and so on. Very solid power plants. I would put one of those in also, although a supercharged 5.7 would be a hoot also.

In need of a new truck
This is my first post so please let me know if I'm doing anything improperly.

I'm trying to decide between a 2024 Tundra SR5 Crewmax 6.5 bed 4x4 with load leveling air suspension and a 2024 F150 XLT Supercrew 6.5 bed 4x4 with Tow/Haul package.

I've never owned a Toyota so it's an unknown for me. I have owned Fords and in my experience their quality control is not great so getting a good one is hit or miss. The only reason I'm even considering another Ford is they have more options. With Ford I can get a V8, locking rear differential, and a 3.73 axle ratio. My concerns with Toyota are the rear coil springs for towing (hoping the air suspension will help), no limited slip or locking rear diff, and no V8 option.

The truck will not be a daily driver, it will be used for hauling & towing. For over 90% of my driving (around 12,000 miles per year) I've got roughly 500 lbs. in the bed plus towing trailers from 2,000 to 5,000 lbs. with tongue weights from 240 to 520 lbs. My trailers are not particularly heavy, but they have frontal area from 55 - 70 sq. ft. so they push a lot of air. My concern with the Toyota V6 is the turbos will be working all the time, generating a lot of heat. I believe a V8 would actually be less stressed and burn less gas under these conditions?

Any advice will be appreciated, thank you

Depending on your elevation I'd get the Tundra SR5, fuel economy isn't going to differ than much between either and those turbo's at any elevation are going to provide much better towing power than the NA V8 in the XLT. Suspension shouldn't be stressed by 500lb tongue weight combined with your payload, but check payload stickers on the door carefully. Good luck

I think the resident Ford guys will also agree with us on the boosted motors over the V8. You will get more torque early. Whether you get a F150 or Tundra is merely preference, the gear ratio is never an option on Toyotas, its really the final drive that matters as the Gen2 Tundra's were like 4.30 gears.

An OHV (pushrod) NA V8 should burn less gas when towing but isn't Ford's 5.0L V8 an OHC engine?

@sno1 I would agree with above. I've towed a lot with various NA trucks and now that I have an EcoBoost I'd never got back to NA. Either F-150 or Tundra MAY give you problems, but in all likelihood either will serve you well.

:rofl:Haha, I know you're being funny, but I've never said the Tundra was a bad truck, just not the right truck for me because of the things it lacks. Still a fine choice for many.

Hahah I know I know. The only reason I stay subscribed to this thread is for the banter.

Its all in good fun, besides both trucks are both fine. If it wasn't a Tundra it would've been a F150 EB or PB. But then I saw this video posted on this thread multiple times about a F150 dying on the test drive and that was it for me. Have you seen the video? You want me to send it to you? Its been weeks since it was last resurrected :rofl::rofl:
