I lol'd at the rush to report inflation is over late last year after a few months of not horrible reports. No way it's finished with us after 2 years of strikes across the economy.

inflation>strike for higher pay to absorb inflation>more inflation>more demands for higher pay.

The side effects of that printed money infusion aren't done with us. But the political economic news cycle wants you excited about meaningless week to week or month to month graph blips.

I am really surprised that Toyota Corp. hasn't offered anything for it yet; so that they can take it apart and see what the wear and tear is on the new design truck, from a real truck driver.
Its already kind of, sort of, apart too right ?

If that is a real rate, meaning you are still getting all the known Manufacturer Rebates and Discounts on top of it - then that is really good rate on a depreciating asset like a vehicle. Todays news on + new jobs in the US and Canada means any decisions by the Fed or BOC just got pushed out another month. JMO

That’s the mortgage rate. My auto rate is 4.99. If you buy a tundra it’s 0% for 36 months lol

Weird that the car rate is better than a 30 year mortgage rate now.

    Edit missed his post above.

    Interesting.
So if you take an auto rate of 5% on say a $50000 Tundra that is $2500 a year at 5%. So for three years $7500.
Toyota is discounting the Tundra by $7500 to get you to lock in for 3 years.

Yeah. And one year term open 8%

We have 20 years left on our amortization (started with 25). In Canada, you have to refi every 1-5 years.

I think we're paying 4.2 on my wife's car, which we bought at the end of 2022.

I actually disagree. I have a savings account at 4.35% right now. Better to keep money there than pay down a 2.9% auto loan.

Get a JB4…. Well may be kinda risky considering you have more than 100k. See if it gets you the additional grunt you want. I very happy with my JB4 on my truck. Pulls like an animal.

You HAVE to refinance? Why? So if you have a great rate you’re forced to get into a potentially worse one?

I was looking for mortgage reviews on the lenders we’re choosing and it was a thread about refinancing dates in 2021 and people were posting their 1.875 and 2.25% * cry

That's right. Plus intest paid is not tax deductible in Canada either. But we get free health care.

Yup. I asked my lawyer about it and he said it's a consumer protection thing that came in after people were getting locked into 18% mortgages for 25 years in the 80s with no opportunity to get a lower rate once things calmed down.

Typical Canada, they're selling us nonsense claiming it's for our own good by eliminating the option altogether.
