I have a canopy on my truck so the full roll down rear window on the Tundra CM is less of an advantage to me (though I did get a removable front window so I could use it if I need to). However, the way Ford designed their sliding rear window is stupid compared to what GM and the Tundra DC have (maybe Ram too, can't remember). If I had an F150 and a canopy, I wouldn't be able to haul long things such as lumber or eavestrough other than hanging it out the back of the truck.

I’ve never towed anything with mine, but lots of guys on the 4R forums haul up around the 5k tow limit just fine with theirs.

Use S4, install a brake controller, and you shouldn’t have any issues.

This- I want the roll down window and the big rear floor space that the F 150 has. Oh well. More than likely I will get back into a Tundra when the shine wears off the Gladiator

I ordered my ford from Laura outside at Louis and the tundra outside DFW area. My lariat took 7 months but it was pretty optioned including bed liner, wheel well liners, portioned storage, and work surface. All of which were supply hold up options.

To me the rear window roll down is more important than the flat floor. I don’t use my cab to haul other than the kids and their shit.

My kids used to trip over the hump in the 21 pro I had so I thought the ford would be great. But they still trip, so the hump ain’t an issue. And they miss the rear window rolling down and waving to strangers

I never understood why wheel liners are optional on domestic trucks.

I could be mistaken, but I believe both Toyota and Nissan have wheel liners standard. At least that's the case with Titan.

Nissan Titan has the second biggest roll down rear window. It's a full height and is more than half the width of the rear window, basically the same width as between the 2 rear seat headrests.
Works excellent for hauling lumber with tailgate closed, and you kids can wave to people. Heck, if you wanted to you can climb through it. Works great with our Leer cap, we drop the front window of the cap and have access to the truck cab when boondocking. My main reason for wanting a Tundra. Nissan may have recently dropped this option

I love the roll down rear window. Probably a good 1/2 the time I do it, I watch whoever's behind me, and see one of them elbow the and point, as if to say "Whoa...did you see what the truck in front of us just did?!" LOL

I can tell you that the camel hump can be a problem especially if there is a moonroof and you have rear passengers. I am 5-10 and was almost brushing my head on the roof sitting on the rear-side. Not sure if I would have fit in the middle.

I haul lots of stuff in the rear of my crewmax cab with the backseat folded up—mostly very expensive guitars, an amp or two, and a pedalboard when I go to work. Sometimes, long guns and bows. Other times, lots of power tools.

I can’t for the life of me figure out why that big shelf exists under my rear seat. And I don’t love the driveshaft tunnel, either. Do I wish the floor were flat? Yep. Does it affect what I carry or how it rides? Not at all in any way that I can think of. I have absolutely NEVER not put something back there because of that shelf or because of the tunnel. It’s still a floor, and it’s still a giant area that I can fit a TON of crap in if I wish to keep it secure or climate-controlled during transport. Flat would be nice, but it still serves its purpose.

This. Honestly, probably every one of us who has said "Oh noes, the floor is raised" has ALSO said "I love my CrewMax....huge back seat."

I just put the short shallow stuff where the footwell is; and then stack stuff on top of that, and bridge from the 'raised' shelf to the footwell once filled (if that makes sense). Honestly, not once have I ever gotten upset because the footwell is sunk or because the area under the seat is raised. At most I've said "I dunno why this is raised...." and then I pile stuff on it. LOL

Tacomas are way overpriced. Then I have to sell it when the new truck arrives? There is a chance I could loose a few thousands if it does not work out in with the timing.

Some people dont want them so you can clean up in there. Important on work trucks.

I have a supercab diesel f350 right now. The rear floor is raised up. You can pull out the plastic door sills and it’s definitely raised up in the rear a few inches.

I had a dodge once that had the hump across the rear and there was a fold out platform under the rear seat that made the rear floor flat. I assume you get more foot room like this.

Finally saw a Tundra SR5 Crewmax at the dealership today and I was definitely impressed overall with exterior and most of the interior but I have a dog that I take everywhere and my concerns about the backseat being an awkward layout we’re confirmed.

I wasn’t really leaning towards the ford but I do find the flat floor for my needs in general to be more beneficial.

It's very easy to make a little platform to make a flat floor. Made one out of a piece of plywood and a 2x4 wrapped it in some carpet. Put it in the truck anytime my dog is with me. Not as convenient as having a flat floor, but works.

I appreciate your suggestion. I do. but I am personally not going to spend $70k Canadian on a truck to put a piece of plywood in because of a manufacturers design screw up. Its a truck and they took away truck utility. Whenever you take away utility you go backwards, i mean if we are talking about pickup trucks here and not an SUV. My opinion. This is also one of the main reasons again my opinion why the midsize Ford pickup beat the Tundra for TFL's truck of the year.

Besides.... my dog is 90lbs. The truck floor of my 2018 is perfect height still a little high for him but he makes it. If he was forced to jump another foot to above seat level - forgetaboutit. I would need to help carry him. Just saying. Plus then I would have to buy the next trim up because his head would take up the whole window and I would need that fancy digital mirror.

Lets not kid ourselves. the only reason the back storage under the seats is like that is because they needed a design to hold the batteries for the hybrid.

Given that the previous generation didn't have a flat floor, you can't exactly say they took it away.

It seems to me that the wheel liners help to keep road grime from causing issues, making a mess. Protects the truck metal from having road debris flung all over it

When I was building my truck it felt like the opening scene form the movie Suckers.

“Now go tell him the wheel liners are an extra $100.”

    “those are standard”

    “he doesn’t know that.”

I haven't seen it in person, but the storage under the seat doesn't seem like it is any higher than the platform under the previous gen seat. Lift the seat up and have your platform cover the underseat storage and make a flat floor there. Would it really be that much higher than the previous gen?
