The one in mine seems to be offset. I always need a spotter to get my trailer hitched up.

I think there is a button next to the shifter, I've never needed it but I think that's what it says on the display when I shift to N.

I just set mine every time I shift to park in my truck.

Powerboost legit freaked me out first time i popped the door open to check something with it in drive and the column shifter went to park by itself.

I think I misunderstood. I thought you guys were talking about an electronic "dial thingy" "push buttony" type of shifter.
You're talking about a physical shifter - no way....
That lever moves to park by itself if your door goes AJAR ? Electronic with its own brain and mechanical
IMO guaranteed for something to get messed up.

yes, it also folds down electronically in the f-150 with the work table inside.

while I liked the work table, I thought, damn another thing to break that really isnt needed.

I have a captain's chair/console setup with column shift (rare bird I think) and my column shifter will also do it.

Also when my truck went haywire from the tailgate recall and the headlights were coming on every 10 minutes I would turn the headlights to off (non auto) to see if it still happened and then watch the headlight knob rotate from auto or off to the on position.

Family member confirmed that his ’22 F150 Limited going into Park on its own feature was off when he got it. That tells me it can be turned off and on. This feature can be turned on and off on his new GMC also.

My 2020 Ram work truck also does this auto park / emergency brake thing if you open the door in while in drive or reverse. Also won’t let you shift out of park with the doors open.

Lol I love these "your recall is worse than my recall" arguments.

I am eyeballing the new Ramcharger hard so in 6 years when my service plan on my Powerboost is up maybe I will be the one to start the "Rancharger vs hybrid Tundra" thread based on the tech available then. We can argue about whose "Powertrain malfunction, pull over immediately" message is more serious.

Point is, this high horse stuff is a little tired and unrealistic with the bugs that the third gen has had so far.

Also, I own one of the trucks being compared in this thread. What are you doing here?

I totally agree, no need for arguing.

Because we all know F150 recalls are worse.

I have plenty of experience with the 23 F-150. Maybe don’t be to quick to assume.

I still own my F-150 and am not partial to any brand. And if you were to read through my other posts, you would see where I said if I was buying a new truck, I’d buy an F-150.

I’m realistic though and recognize no truck is without faults. I’m not going to just sit here and perpetually troll about one or the other.

I love my F150 V8. 26K miles on it so far. Looking at a 3500 mile road trip to Minnesota this summer with a trailer. Work table has proven incredibly useful scanning documents including depositing Client checks before I leave their driveway.... Seats are best ever. I've already covered 960 miles in a day several times. So its had a few recalls,. These are annoying but none of them have affected the drivability of the car, just had them done with the regular service. Towing I get 11-12mpg. Regular highway miles 22mpg, best ever highway miles 25.8mpg over 500 miles. All manually calculated. The 36 gallon tank is a game changer especially when towing. Going to Ford was a leap of faith after half a million miles in Toyotas and Hondas. No regrets.

I’ve had two issues in 23’s F-150s. One with the 4-pin connector going out intermittently. For whatever reason, the left turn signal will stop working and I get a trailer brake error on the screen that will keep popping up. Then running lights work but brake lights won’t go on when braking.

Thought it was the trailer, but we hooked the trailer up to my Tundra and can’t repeat it. Also does it for a different trailer for a center console.

The other thing which is intermittent is that every once in a blue moon the AC goes full blast and can’t get it to go off.

Other than that, it’s a great truck. Flat floorboard in the back and a rear diff locker are two things I very much like on it. The cameras are also legit. The silly trailer backup knob is a kind of a joke.

Comes with wife proof (curb resistant tires) and "Dark Mode" for when you are trying to sneak into the house late. ***

Taurus gone, Charger probably gonna be a 2 door. Thought Chevy still had a sedan lineup but if you go to their page and click on "cars" only the Malibu comes up. Impala's gone. Half ton makers probably gonna be stepping up to join Mid and full sized SUVs filling that gap. Pickups are robust patrol vehicles and they can step in to haul and tow equipment that might overwhelm an Explorer

A couple Townships around me prefer to have 1-2 Rams in their fleets for now. I see no Silverados yet.

Police packages will probably be one great tool to keep the assembly lines churning in tough times to feed these union members who want to live like it's 1957.

The police here have been using Explorers for over 5 years. When Ford dropped the Crown Vic or whatever their last big sedan was, they tried the Charger for a couple years but apparently it's not very comfortable. Also see the occasional F150 or Tahoe.

Yeah I have a Charger for a company car. Trunk is small and I wouldn't want to be much bigger than 5'6-5"8 with equipment if you put a cage in it and lose any front seat clicks. Seems like police departments have no choice once the current batch of Tauruses and Chargers moves onto Taxi duty but to go to SUVs and pickups.

My BIl is a 6'11" local cop in the closest big city down here. Ideally needs to be in a Tahoe. I think he finds an Explorer tolerable when he has to be in one.

Will also gladly drive a van on the busier Friday and Saturday nights. Taking the cage out changes everything, he just goes back far enough to eliminate rear leg room behind him and he's good in a lot more vehicles. Oddly he raves about how comfortable he can get in bigger Subarus he has sat in at car shows.

I mistake white 22+ Tundras for Police Explorer SUV's all the time whether on the approach or in the rear view.
There are white F150 Police trucks that patrol our street last couple years.

The F150's can tow (vehicles away) so a big advantage over cars.
I wonder if they (being the cops) have an electronic override for transmissons of vehicles they want to tow...to take them out of park?
