    Turd Ferguson for the win,

Let's see a Ford F150 go 1 million miles in any form and let me know how it happened.

2024 is the last year so far with a cooler, it was in hiding there for a few years, what in 2019 or something - 2021

ok, we'll go by your rules,

there has been a lot of positive stuff, your crickets. let's start with one of the recent towing threads on how just about every owner, if not every owner, has stated this Gen is way better.

ok, your on, go say something nice....

yawnnnnn....this thread is entertaining as its like watching a merry go round...same arguments over and over, yet here we all are!

Why can't we ask questions like wtf is @Bannerman doing in his latest boat pic? Boat is on hill, hooked up to truck? Why is the trailer jack still down? Wheel blocks in picture but not being useful, almost in way.

Why cant we see more epic fish pictures with his boat? Why does he look so short next to his boat? Ya know, real cutting edge questions and truck comparisons

Not every Gen 2'er is out to get the Gen 3'ers.

I'll admit that I stay tuned in with the Gen3 forum as eventually I'll replace my Gen 2. I will more than likely be in a Gen3 or some other iteration of Toyota's future truck. Maybe it'll have a "Gen 3.5" refresh. I can't rule out F-150's either as a possibility. I daily drove one largely trouble free for over 10 years, so I find this thread interesting.

Still have my F-150, going on 15 years.

I’ll concede this - after picking up a 1st gen earlier in the week - the build quality has been declining since before the 3rd gen was released. 245k miles and the 2uz is smoother than the 5.7 was when I drove it new off the lot.

my gen 1s were nice, I liked those trucks

rusty frame and brake TSBs like crazy kinda sucked, as well as the 4x4 actuator problems, also cracked manifolds we were all dealing with back then.

my 01 is still one of my favorite tundras, I had the TRD Luxury Sport package from classic soft trim super sweet

I actually drove a Gen 1 in the very early 2000s when I was looking to buy my first brand new truck and still remember the salesperson telling me as soon as we got out onto the road to romp on that 4.7 and really feel it. My what a long way we've come in the last 20 years.

ya, back in those days, Ill I used to hear on the forums like this was I had a 7/8 size truck, lol.

I will say the rear door situation was really lame until the true double cab in 06

I liked the 05-06 double cabs. I think they were the perfect size - roomy (but not excessive like today's trucks) back seat and 6' bed coming in around 19 ft. Towed enough for the average half ton owner. Power wasn't mind blowing, but good enough.

This one has the cracked manifold - at least on the drivers side. Brakes are actually great - not as strong as the newer bigger rotors but incredibly smooth and consistent. Miraculously it shifts in and out of 4hi and 4lo and the center diff lock works - pretty impressive for 19 yrs old and a quarter million miles.
I bought it not planning to dump any money into it but it’s so nice I’m thinking I need to throw a set of shorty headers on and drive the shit out of it.

04-06, I think, but 05 got a small power bump over the 04.

A friend had an 04 that I drove some - I really liked it.

that's what most did with the manifold situation, JBA shorty.

Toyota corrected the brakes by spreading the pistons out more on the caliber, the originals had the 4 pistons too close and it generated too much heat and warped rotors like crazy.

The 4x4 actuators were fixed right after my 2001, my 2000 had it. I had the 2000 in late 99 right when they came out

here was mine with the TRD Luxury Sport Package they came out with, its was really nice

this was before I got my TRD FJ Wheels, Toyota had those VIN restricted at the time, but a lot of us Tundrasolutions.com member found a way around that, they looked super sharp on a tundra

the double cab was around in 04? I thought it was like 05-06 only, thanks for the clarification, I knew it was only a few years.

back seat was really nice in those compared to the access cabs most of us had

Lol I remember stories back then on how in the development phase Toyota floated the idea of a V6 only half ton with US dealers to get their take and they were told not to bother at all if they weren't bringing a V8 to market or else expect to be laughed out of town.

The Toyota v6 is what they always have had in Tacos/ 4 runners for years. The Lexus/ Toyota v8 is legendary and well built. It is interesting to see that Ford bringing their Mazda derived 2.3 liters with 300-400 HP to market made the imports finally bring in high horsepower 4 cylinders to the US market. Toyota, Nissan and Subaru have had high horsepower small displacement motors in their JDM market for 30 plus years. What the 90s would have been had we gotten the Skyline GTR, Silvia, and B22 WRX which all sell for super crazy money now.

It kind of makes me wish Toyota would have done a proper Supra with a 6 speed and a targa not a rebadged job with BMW. I remember when Supras were 50-60K in the mid 90s for a turbo targa model and now you can not touch low mileage examples for under 100k and I have seen some go for $200-$250k plus.

"Lol OMG 6 cylinder? They don't understand American culture at all. They
Clearly think they just need to introduce a slightly upsized T 100 and people will kick the dealership door in to get at it just because it's a Toyota, they have no idea what this segment is about. What out of touch nut job tries to bring a 6 banger into the half ton market."

20 years later a CC 4x4 Chevy Silverado 4 cyl sitting at the curb coughs to life like a chain smoker waking up first thing as I walk by.

what really does anybody know about anything.

I hate the million mile argument. Its so meaningless to 99.9999% of people.

The average person drives 13k a year. My F150 is 9 years old this month and has 115k on it. I dont give a crap if it doesnt make it to 300,000 miles nevermind 1,000,000 miles.

Also, if I needed to go a million miles in a vehicle, it sure as hell wouldnt be in a 5.7L Tundra getting 13 mpg. If it had to be a truck i'd probably get a 2.7L Ecoboost an have enough in fuel savings to replace the motor 10 times
