It was nice for sure. We are both still working at least, she made Partner this year so if one of us were to stop working I would be Mr. Mom.

80k for a law degree isn't bad since most good schools are $100k plus. I paid my Masters degree off within 18 years but it was smaller than most since I only took the Pell amounts and not the full amount which most use to live on. I worked a job during it so that is how I paid rent and food for that period of time. I spent some time working with friends and helping them establish businesses after graduation and didn't have enough corporate experience. I am doing well now but also got a late start, most in my class are already retired and living the good life.

    sigh, :(

I sat in a couple third gen Tundras while getting my truck serviced last week. I think if I were to get one, it would be an SR5 with the small screen. I'm not a fan of screens that stick up above the dash and don't look integrated and screen size doesn't matter. I don't think you can get heated seats in the SR (plus I don't think I'd want the detuned engine for towing my trailer). With 3 kids in car seats, I'd probably go CM standard bed ("long bed" in Toyota speak).

The under seat storage boxes are slightly more elegant than my current system of throwing stuff on the floor behind the rear seat and hoping it doesn't slide around too much but ultimately they're useless to me until at least my oldest is no longer in a booster seat.

Disclaimer: I have no plans to trade in my truck and if it breaks down or gets totaled by a moron who can't drive, I'll most likely move up to a gas one-ton to have enough payload for my family and gear when towing our travel trailer.

My sentiments exactly - there should be no free lunch.

I was able to earn a BS Computer Science and MS Computer Science from state universities without any student debt because I joined the Army National Guard and qualified for State Tuition Waiver. I also never used any of my GI Bill so if I have kids some day, it may be available to them.

80 for the masters, law degree was about $60. I was working already when she was in school so I was able to support us through that 5 years.

I have tried super hard not to be too hard on the Gen 3 and think I am actually nicer about it than some people who still hold onto their Gen2s. But I can't help but wonder what the reaction would be here if brand new F150s were grenading engines in a forum thread even if it was like .5% of them.

The engine thing is one thing, but the fuel leak isnt a bullet imo. The temp fix is out for those affected, and some of us after a certain production date aren’t even affected cause the new “permanent” part has been applied already supposedly. My truck is a 6/23 prod. date and is not affected by the recall. I think across all the forums and FB groups i saw a total of 3 trucks actually develop the leak. Not saying it was excusable, but it definitely is/was less frequent than the motors going boom lol

E locker is nice BUT it takes too long to disengage in the cold as my driveway has a sharp 90 degree turn at the top onto a cleared street. Bad sounds and I had to be very careful not to damage it. Never used it again.

Thing that sucks is that it has to be done twice, temp and permanent (not yet described) fix. Both times the tank will need to be dropped.

Not sure what exactly that permanent fix is either, to my untrained eye my truck looked the same as others. Honestly as a measly 22 gallon tank guy, if i was affected id ask how many cases of beer + the cost of a 32 gallon tank for the tech to magically make my old tank disappear lol might as well if youre dropping the tank that much

I didn't know the tank was that small. Be a pain if you towed alot. 36g tank is one of my favorite "features".

only on the pleb trim’s, SR/SR5, the SR5 has an option package that adds it at least. Limited and above the 32 is standard iirc

That's one thing that always surprised me about the GM trucks - no option beyond a 24 gallon.

This PowerBoost F-150 is a 30.6 gallon tank, my last F-150 was a 36 gallon.

that is the ticket, and commissioned as an officer is very nice.

I got the email that the permanent fix is in for the fuel line thing, I will try and get it taken care of in a week or two once I run low on gas cause I am sure they will drop the tank.

I think the best program from the National Guard was for those who were admitted to a state MD program. For three of the four years they were in school, the National Guard would put them on ADOS orders as a O-2. Also, if they went to a state MD program, they could utilize state tuition waiver and go to med school for free. Basically, they were earning O-2 income for 3 years and not paying tuition for med school. After they graduated, they had a 4 year commitment and most probably wouldn't even have finished their residency by that point.

This is not true as my range is 450 miles which I think is the smaller tank. I have a hybrid limited

I almost went Army Guard as a Heli pilot but probably would not be with us right now. Very dangerous job if you know what I mean.

Get some ethanol free gas for those little engines if you don’t already have it. Far less trouble starting them up if they are seasonal machines.

I get like 300 miles a tank if im lucky. Ive heard the big tank needs a 6 gallon reserve to keep the pump submerged as to not fry it (so on E, you will only fill 26 gallons or so, with the 22 gallon tank even when i run it down to no range i can only fill 16-17 gallons). 450 miles is definitely still the bigger tank.

Having gone to the 30 gallon in my Powerboost i think 28-30 should be the minimum for pickups, a tank in the mid or low 20s has no place in a half ton. I do not think I could go back to something with 22-26 gallons. If an option I Would have to take whatever package got me close to or above 30.

Ford sees Toyota's fuel leak recall and raises with a rollaway risk. This is another one I dodge as I do not have the Max Tow package but those Axle bolts are a real problem. If I am reading right the axle bolts have been a known warranty issue on this package for awhile that dealers often find when they take the wheels off for brake or tire work. Other times people have heard the symptom and taken it in. But the rollaway issue has turned it into a safety recall. I have been hearing about these Max Tow package axle bolts shearing for awhile and Ford does not even appear based on current news to have a new part design yet.

The F-150 forums have a thread that rivals the "Gen 3 Engine Failure" list. They've built a spreadsheet on it, hundreds of reported issues, sometimes mutiple times, due to those bolts.
