I have an ionic silver f350 dually right now. It pops especially with the aluminum rims.

The tri coat white is good too. Stays clean.

Another one is Magnetic. Its dark and stays clean. Tundra offers this color as well. I would get this myself as it stays really clean for long periods.

Yes, I agree, all these are nice. Star White (tri coat) was my wife's first choice but is available only with chrome and we wanted the Black appearance package.

They must have changed it recently because it was available at one time in star white with BAP. Super duty though

You can build a Lightning now, 74k for a XLT. Lots of people will drop off that list.

Base XLT is 53k and that's before the tax credit. But yes, with the bigger battery you can be over 70k before tax credit.

At the price they are asking for the XLT, you might as well stretch a little more and get the Lariat. The XLT makes no sense if you want the extended range battery.

Yeah the lariat high is the best value. Lariat seems to provide the best value. I mean for 73k after rebate you get self drfiving, parking and the larger screen and 9.6kw generator. not horrible. I wonder what dealer markups will be.

In the beginning the mark up will be a lot I'm sure. But they did say Ford will ramp up production to 150k units yr 1. I posted the TFL vid in another thread but Chevy releases their version next week. So the flood of EV trucks is coming.

    The XLT is almost pointless.

I have owned all the trim levels besides limited and xlt. That includes stx which is an xl appearance package.

I owned a Volt for the last 5 years and played with the battery range a lot. A fully electric car or truck will not work well in cold climates. In winter you get about 1/2 of the range, add some towing or hauling to it and you're lucky to get home :). And that is when it's new - but battery degrades every year - Tesla is saying about 4% per year. Tesla is also telling customers to don't charge the battery more than 80% so you lose 20% from the beginning. I am not sure how Ford will deal with this.
GM dealt with this threshold way smarter then Tesla- they don't give you access to the last 20% and they advertised just the 80% range. Battery is 18KW but you have access only to 14.4. Also, you don't notice the depreciation until you pass this treshold of 20%. Smart, no?
For 5-6 years you have the same exact range.
I think for now the hybrids are the best compromise until battery technology will dramatically improve.
One game changer in the future can be GM with their Ultium Batteries, looks like they are a big improvement over the current style

Ya'll were having a good time with a window reset on a Ford but went quiet the myriad of CEL's at 300 miles on the Tundra....

CELs all suck too. Was anyone told “they’re all like that” or “we can’t replicate the problem” on ‘22 Tundras the way loads of people are told this by Ford dealers?

I’m interested to see whatever issues the 3rd gen may have, but I highly doubt Toyota hangs owners out to dry the way Ford has done to tons of forums users and multiple members of my family.

Was told don't know the problem and there is no fix and to just keep coming back to clear the code.

And I'm not referencing anecdotal historical encounters with claims of vague statements. Especially with "insert my 8 year old or 13 year old Ford" experience.

Who was? You were? Or are you referencing the wastegate actuator issue causing CELs on brand new Tundras? I didn’t see where someone was told to keep coming back and we’ll reset the light as a solution (let alone a final one). But I am on my phone, and I might’ve missed it.

If its like the ford magnetic you will thank her. For being dark it stays clean.

Ceramic coat it and its pretty deep.

Just think…. If all cars were electric and someone one day said you could install a generator on board. I think I know the answer as I would definitely want the hybrid.

Only halfway through. But he’s literally the only one to say the tundra drives like a truck and the f150 drives like a sedan. Everyone including myself thinks the tundra drives like an suv

So I can assume you are in the "V6TT will be less reliable than the V8" camp?

I can only provide an opinion based on my personal perspective.
My trucks/suvs I have always bought with the intention to keep them 10 years. For the last 40 years my own personal truck/suv's have all been Honda and Toyota. They are always loaded or being used to tow, haul, do stuff with.
They are not daily drivers. commuter vehicles for me.

So I bought my 2018 Tundra new in 2018 with the mindset that it was going to be my last truck.
If I was in the same position as that ^^^ in January 2022 (today) and looking to buy this 2022 Tundra with V6TT,
I am no longer considering it as my last truck, but one that I won't be keeping past the warranty period.

That drops the new Tundra a level, and puts it in the same category as the Ford F150, and the reason I shopped, am shopping the F150.
And only because of the crazy trade in value this pandemic induced supply shortage, has given to my truck.
But as the truck I want can't be had within 6-8 months for the same reasons. Its all a mute point anyway isn't it. 8^0

    ****************************

Now let me say - coffee kicking in....
From what I have read on this forum there are many that only keep their trucks 1-2 years. And thats cool. When I was 16 - 26 I went through 10 vehicles. Younger people say 20-40 years of age seem to be more interested in new features than reliability since any problems are covered under warranty and they turnover their vehicles. This is why IMO the F150 (feature leader) will continue to be No. 1 in sales in the future.

    I will finish with this.
My career was in IT. The vehicles with less tech will be less obsolete, than the new vehicles coming out today due the increase in reliance in parts with Tech from outside suppliers; and due to the amount of change we are about to see with EV's and the transition to them. There are too many outside suppliers providing parts to the Toyotas and Fords today, and management only cares about Sales objectives and Shareholders***see below update. These outside suppliers some whose parts are critical to the function of say the "THE ENGINE" , may experience problems, the parts may become obsolete, forcing mgmt to make a decision on the engine.

***Looking at the bigger picture outside of trucks - Many Toyota executives will be getting bonuses in 2022. JMO.
