36 gallon fuel tank on a F150 usually gets you about 300 miles before you have to refuel. But you can pull into most gas stations on the highway with your trailer.

Because there are no pull through EV chargers that allow you to re-charge without unhitching, my requirement would be 500-600 miles of towing on a single charge for an EV vehicle.

That’s asking a lot. I’d be ok with range similar to what I have now. 500-600, 250-300 towing.

The pull through changers are a huge issue too as you said.

Mine is about 360 miles in good conditions if I were to fully drain it, but its also very easy to fill back up and the infrastructure is in place.

I'm still along way from buying an EV, just saying that I wouldn't even start to consider it unless they could at least match my current trucks range.

Same. I've said it before, but a Plug In HV truck would suit the needs the best. Give me 15-20 miles range on EV then the rest on Hybrid. That covers the commute of most people, and then you have range of your gas tank after that when you're making further drives or road trips.

I see dozens of Rivians around town, but I don't see full EV trucks being a real option yet with our infrastructure.

Right now the Ramcharger (concept) is the only thing I'd consider, will be watching that one carefully.

    I agree.

But hopefully others will follow. It's not a unique concept. Basically the same way the big diesel locomotives operate. I'd love to see a small turbodiesel generator PHEV

But likely at the cost of significant payload capacity and volume. And cost. How much is a 50kwh battery going to be?

I'd like to see a bunch of these with various fuels (gas, diesel, even hydrogen if we can start to get it to market in decent quantities) from a bunch of different manufacturers become available. This is the future, not BEVs.

Stellantis had to abandon an eco diesel. Yeah lets buy a more complicated system from them.

Not towing or loaded or with the average N. American sized family in it.

Watch the video in post 4763 to see how drastically an EV trucks range drops off in the real world.

Stellantis abandoned it because the Duramax was superior and cheaper, and people who buy Ram's are the type that want their big, angry sounding V8 anyways and dont care about gas mileage. If they wanted something efficient and torquey then there was 5 other cheaper options on the market already.

I feel like such a hot shot baller. Ford dealer saw my premium care plan pop up in the computer and when I called on the way home from work to ask for a shuttle they offered to deliver it.

For all I know the dealer parked it for 8 hours, put inspection stickers and just drove it right back to my house. Whatever, don't care.

VIP over here. Gonna go smoke a cigar outside my 2100 sq foot estate now.

I will have to watch the Hurricane motor in the Ram and see how things shape up when used for strenuous duty. Rumor has it Dodge may have heard me bitching and decided the next gen muscle cars need a gas engine. If the next gen Charger looks like this I guess I will have 2 TT V6s in the driveway. I hope they don't punk out and change this look. If they do what they did with the Challenger and pretty much put the concept on the sales floor they're getting my money again.

Here in Charlotte there are packs of dozens of Chargers that cruise around at night on the weekends, they do "street takeovers" all the time. I don't see the homies switching to EV's any time soon, Dodge knows their market.

I just have a hard time with ram making an all new motor like that, I would wait for years until it proves itself.

toyota I trust, Ram, I do not at this point. mine had the hemi in it which was around forever at the time so I tried that 2013 loaded up sport

Nothing like a Stellantis design built in Mexico. I'd wait to see how it does for a couple of years or lease it or buy an extended warranty.
    -----------
Who makes the 3.0 Hurricane engine?

    Stellantis Hurricane engine

The Stellantis Hurricane engine is a twin-turbocharged straight-six engine produced by Stellantis since November 2021 at their plant in Saltillo, Mexico and announced publicly in March 2022. The engine is designed for longitudinal applications and will fit their current vehicles that have a V6 or V8.

Yikes, probably would leave off some basic part, like tow hooks.

I don't know, I pulled into Cabelas earlier this week. All the pickups lined up, Ford, chevy, gmc, toyota(2nd gen), ram, all have front tow hooks. I noticed it because there were a could GMCs with the bright red. It just seems like such a basic thing to exclude on a truck that weighs that much. And to not even offer it on the TRD Pro, just doesn't make sense to me.

I bet $1 million dollars by the time a charging infrastructure is put in place that can rival the same time it takes to fill up with conventional petroleum products, the cost of the charge will be the same as your typical gas or diesel fill up. I have 2 family members who have the small Tesla sedans and they complain the cost to charge out in public has increased exponentially over the past year.

Toyota Engineers bowed down to the EPA gods for the new Tundra.
Better mileage was the goal and safety.
This is seen in every aspect of the new Tundra design including the Tow Hooks (lack of) which I don't see affecting mileage all that much themselves, but I believe they do affect operation of the front air dam. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
Also the Tundra production is not large enough as we know to warrant separate lines one with and with out Tow Hooks.
Regardless, I think the front end design is just too complicated IMO to accomodate this .
So they chose a long front end with lots of space - better safety ratings, better cooling for the turbos /engine over the Tow hooks and more front end over hang which is a negative for offroading clearance.

Not saying you are wrong but are there not other brands with active air dams and intercoolers that still make accommodations for tow hooks? Just seems like if it they had wanted to make it work they could have. But it may be one of those market study things, you don't need tow hooks at Starbucks. When I had my Taco I remember discussing the lack of disk brakes in the rear, even on the third gen and what it came down to was that toyotas market research showed that towing was like priority #23 for Tacoma owners, and you don't really need disks in the rear if you are not towing. Been a few years but that was the gist.

You are not the only one. The last time my vehicle was in for service I got talking to the Service Manager. Its a country dealership just outside a small Ontario town. Lots of trucks. He told me record numbers of new owners (he would know) were reversing the changes Toyota made where possible both mechanical - like tires and lifts, and cosmetic - making the front end look different.
Will Toyota take notice in the refresh ? I saw a dark Grey Tundra here on our street couple weeks ago. It was a sport model and it had no chrome, no moustache. I did a couple double takes. Why would they not do this with the offroad model ?
