4X4 will be standard on 2024 Lariats and Up. Raptor and Tremor were always standard but I guess they rarely got orders for Lariat, KR, Plattys in 2x4.

When you spend $70-80k on a truck who cares about 1 or 2 mpg. Payload isnt much better since the 2wd trucks got lower GVWR's anyways.

anyone (including me) whoever bought a gen 1 or 2 or 2.5 tundra never cared about mpg either, and they were way less than that, HA

my 2016 was a particular pig, I never really cared that much. That said, this one is doing way better already and it's not broke in all the way yet I don't think. I got 20-21 on winter blend coming home from IN the other day, thats WAY more than my old pig got, Id get 13-15 at the most.

I'm not sure if I'm in the minority or not but fuel mileage is just is not something I care to consider.

If you need a truck, you need a truck. A few mpg here or there isnt going to make a huge difference.

But I cared enough to buy another vehicle that wasnt a 6500 lb brick in 35’s.

Although, apparently my 6500 lb brick on 35’s gets 20% better MPG’s than a 2G Tundra so I guess I was doing ok.

My 2003 Ram on 35s got about 12 mpg, Tremor gets about 17 mpg on 35s. 30% improvement in 20 years while making way more power/tq is pretty good all things considered.

I never dwelled on mpg but it is nice to see a vast improvement. My 09 Crewmax was generally a 13-14 mpg truck mixed. My Powerboost does 5-7 mpg better. With the 30 gallon tank that's typically 2-3 weeks between fillups and 600-650 mile range on road trips. It's dead of winter with all stop and go right now and I'm showing 18 mpg on my display. My Tundra would be in the 12s.

I never posted asking What mpg gains 160 bucks in airflow mods would net me on my Crewmax or anything.
No "is it normal for it to be so low" threads started. I got by fine without decent mpg. but it's nice to have and worth appreciating.

I can do long reviews if they're good and insightful. My kid still watches cartoons. There's only so much of that mind numbing stuff I can follow before I have to put one earpod in and put a gun or vehicle review on my phone and then sit there listening to that in one ear and acknowledging him when he screams "Isn't what Bluey did funny daddy" through the other."

There is one dude on youtube who just mainly wanders around Toyota lots looking at dealer inventory. Doesn't necessarily drive anything. I'm highly confused as to how a channel like that has any real following.

The influencers or reviewers or whatever you call them, as annoying as they can be are, often among the first to get their hands on stuff. I've seen where they'll sound alarms early on issues that turn out to be widespread once everybody else picks up their trucks.

OK, let's race them in a situation that matters. First to get from Houston to Chicago wins.

Besides, even if there are some super fast chargers along the route that allow the Tesla to win, I'd rather make the trip in almost any other vehicle than that ugly-ass cybertruck. Maybe not the Pontiac Aztec... but it's a close call between the two.

Incredible squat on the Raptor as it tries to lay down the power.
Looks are very subjective especially on a vehicle that tries to stand out.
People said your exact words in 2022 with the Tundra front end when it came out.

Looks are subjective, true. The Tesla truck is just not my cup of tea. I'm not anti electric either, just anti-hideous (to me). lol

I could not accept looking out the window at one in my driveway that was not lifted with a wheel/tire package.

Has not been an "it grows on you in person" thing for me like the current Ram or Silverado.

And yet the specs sound pretty impressive.

Looking at this, I'm not sure the Lightning would be my first choice for an EV pickup.

How much of that range disappears when towing or carrying weight? The KW/mile usage increase is very big on the F150 lightning in testing. TFL Trucks has done extensive testing on Evs. Unless Tesla is doing something drastically different, it will suffer the same. How long does it take to recharge those huge batteries?

Although fast, this will be just like Rubicon Wranglers in Florida, just a lifestyle vehicle to pick up starbucks in and brag to your friends about.

Fill up a ICE truck even one as bad on gas and the 2.5 Gen Tundra, Charge the Lighting to full and they will go the same distance loaded down or towing?

You should work in politics with that epic word play.

In the real world, now, not in some promised future that may never arrive.....

Never mind that Tesla's consistently don't get their estimated ranges while most other EV's meet or exceed their estimated ranges.

EV's lose a much larger percentage of their range while towing than ICE and are starting from a lower range to begin with. They seem to end up around 1/4 to 1/3 of their estimated range towing a travel trailer while an ICE is ~1/2.

Other than the Silverado EV with its ridiculously huge battery, the EV trucks seem to struggle to get a travel trailer 100 miles.

I can also attest to the fact that charging an EV that isnt a tesla can suck. I have tried 3 times to charge my Bolt on public chargers and I have not been successful. I would not wanna be towing with a non-Tesla plugged EV and have to be looking for a charger that actually works.

I wouldn't consider an EV pickup unless it provided at least 2,000 miles of range before needing to be re-charged. You'll probably end up getting 1/4th of that when towing if the environment is not optimal. You also have to factor in age based battery degradation. The additional penalties are that there are no pull through EV charging stations to accommodate a tow vehicle with a trailer. When you factor all of that in, you'll be lucky to get 500 miles of towing range.
