F150 prices are insane anymore, so glad Toyota atleast in my opinion has kept the prices alot better. Big reason I'm back here, xlt,s are 60k now. I think you get alot in the Toyota platinum package vs a Ford Platinum are over 70k and because of the chip shortage alot of options are being deleted. Now if I could get my ext warranty refunded I could be done with Ford, may 5th and still waiting such Bs.

Yep, once you top 60k in a Toyota it seems
pretty hard to find a way to not end up with leather or at least softex and cooled seats. You can manage a 60k plus build with cloth unventilated seats pretty easily in an F series.

Or you'll see a 62k Lariat and realize it has a 2.7 in it which I find downright silly.

Not as of recent. Toyota did a msrp increase not long ago. Non hybrid non advance platinums are over $70k now.

SET and GST region platinum hybrids are 76k . At least with ford you can get 3% below invoice . I’ve seen discounted tundras but the popular combos aren’t discounted

That is insane even in these times. I shopped one dealer that liked to do these outsourced performance packages with a nearby shop. Slap on a lift, exhaust, rims, tires, some Cosmetics, a programmer, dress up the interior, then mark trucks up 10-20k or more. May have even had a Supercharger package offered. Some of the ads would be accurate about it and show the truck modified. For ones that didn't get it yet they were lazy about updating or would maybe leave it up to get people to come ask about the truck.

They Would have stock photos and descriptions. Some with the nearly 100k price added in. Then you'd show up maybe thinking it was a typo to find out it was at a performance shop getting the package added. Then they'd want to rattle off all the awesome stuff it was going to come back to them with and if you wanted they could call when it showed back up.

I see that dealer sells some performance/lift package trucks so I wonder if that's What's going on there.

Also this is the bloat on the pro I’m seeing more of. At this price a pro is a hard pass imo . When I got my first at 69-70k it was a reasonable purchase

I'm going to bet they do the same thing across their truck line as well, and competitors will follow.

Doubt it on the gas models. EV has been a shot seller and it’s just a retract from the recent price hike.

but the pro model is still higher than the launch price. All others are just back down to launch pricing

They will price as required to make money. Alot of leeway with pickup trucks. Like $10k plus on some models.
Everything is playing out as expected. Toyotas being a niche full size pick up player should see bigger discounts in the common models while Toyota Fanboys keep buying the upper models. (You know who you are - lol )
I am no fanboy - As soon as either of my Toyota trucks let me down they will be gone.

Canada headline $15,000 off Lightning now.

I mean lightnings are in a shit situation. You can order a top lariat ER for $10k less and now get the $7500 credit. Those on the lot with ineligible stickers are so fucked that the discount will need to be $20k

I think full EV trucks are a great idea in 20 years once we have significantly improved batteries/energy storage tech.

They would make total sense for 90% of Boise city folks if there were just a few more chargers in Stanley, ID and on the way to Ketchum, ID. So few folks don’t drive further than that and aren’t towing.

When battery tech gets there and a lifted, armored, 37in tire truck can get 400m range towing I am ALL in

This is assuming in the interim our grid does not degrade to the point where people begin to see more extreme weather rolling blackouts in places where they're not used to them.

I believe Getting that "please conserve for the next 72 hours" text from the power company is gonna make people who never got that one before start to reevaluate all of this.

Oh yeah, that’s a separate issue completely, don’t even wanna get started on that. Not to mention the lack of infrastructure for charging them. I’m just saying, my cell phone won’t even go a full day without having to recharge.

ROFL first there was "try to avoid a Friday afternoon truck"

Now there's "try not to get that 'allowed back to the line after a fake SWAT call with only an hour left to quitting time' truck"

Agreed. The driveline is superior without a doubt but they don't necessarily do well for truck things. At least the way I use a truck.

I think there needs to be a fundamental shift in peoples mentality. Just because a truck is EV doesnt mean its a good idea to drive around in a 7, 8, or 9000 lb vehicle just because. If its not being used as a truck, maybe reconsider the vehicle choice.

I dont really like that all these EV mfg's are targeting huge vehicles with tons of range. The amount of battery you need to make these things drive 300+ miles is insane and makes the prices ridiculous and the charging an issue. I understand people want to act like they need to drive cross country in their EV but the reality is a 100 mile range would probably serve 99% of most peoples driving. A small 100 mile range EV would have a battery 1/3 to 1/5 of what we see and could probably be mostly charged overnight on a 110V 15 amp circuit.

Smaller and lighter cars without obscene ranges would fix this problem. And people not thinking they need a 8000 lb EV truck with a 300 mile range to run the kids to soccer.

Or PHEV everything. A PHEV expedition or Sequoia with 40 miles of EV range would do plenty for most peoples daily crap and still be able to pull your wakeboard boat and drive cross county. Then its not saddled with 2000-3000 lb battery that you need your own personal nuclear reactor to recharge.

I really wish the tundra hybrid had a mode selection- phev for 20-30 mile range around town or switch it over to towing/ high power mode

It would need a much larger battery. Perfect conditions, not considering any efficiency loss and assuming you could discharge the battery completely from 100 to 0%, that thing could maybe get you 5 miles.

Factor in loses and keeping the battery from over discharging and you might get 3 miles.
