Well since its all sunshine and daisies around here since the debate is settled, lets look at some real POS trucks.

I read on on that when it happened but want to see follow up. Apparently that guy smugly told Ram after this happened that he ran the numbers and knew his truck was supposed to handle that load and he shouldn't be on the hook for this, only for us to find out he was going off generic ratings for a stripped truck that were not specific to his significantly heavier configuration.

Also had 2 e bikes and a heavy rack hanging off the back of all that on top of the over weight camper. Warranty denied last I heard with a 17k repair bill looming. The owner unwittingly advertising that he was driving over loaded by nearly 1000 pounds for thousands of miles may have given Ram the ammo they needed to void the warranty. I think he filed an insurance claim, would love to know what they told him after he advertised all the evidence across the internet.

Let's see, dry weight of that 1165 model truck camper is 4,917 lbs, so loaded it was well over 5,000 lbs. - just for the camper. So he had what, maybe 6,000 lbs of payload in that truck and a lot of it cantilevered way off the back of the frame.

    https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5d6ffe3d12eb900001d8c381/t/64529a697430c3782c17f8f5/1683135089769/Eagle+Cap+Brochure+2021+Small.pdf

I'd guess he said "Yeah, well we all know that RAM overbuilds their trucks and the yellow payload sticker is generic and always under-rated"

If this is a measure of a 'POS" I think it would be entertaining for somebody to throw that camper in the back of their Tundra - any generation, but really this latest version for giggles.

I think he had about 5800 to work with but was estimating over 6500 when all said and done thinking the generic 7600 capacity for a stripped 3500 left him breathing room. But he Never actually weighed the thing to know exactly, could have been more. I found Where Geico bailed him out under comprehensive. Must be paying some healthy rates on his new rig.

Man you must be a blast at parties! Just trying to find a common foe since we've answered all the questions between F150 and Tundra, Ram seemed like an easy target. Yes the Ram was overloaded, not arguing it wasnt just the most famous Ram failure pic.

Maybe an epic Ram owner fail, to cause 17k in damage that could have injured or killed the occupants of the truck and others because reading the door jamb sticker is too much effort, and then on top of that to post on Social media how confident you are that you got it right.

I still remember walking to a tailgate on campus over a decade ago and coming across some guy closing the tailgate on his Ram. He slammed it shut (not aggressively or anything) and the tailgate entirely fell off.

Never been able to unsee that when I look at one now.

Actually that's more offensive, since I own an '03 Taco. Luckily my frame never rusted and I plated the rear section of mine.

The point is, there's so many people on this forum who are elitist fanboys to the point that they've convinced themselves that payload is BS and doesn't apply to one particular vehicle, the almighty Tundra.

300 hectares on single tank of kerosene
Well... the commercial did tell us we could tow a spaceship. I'm holding them to it!

The Tundra can haul or tow anything. It just can't turn, go up slight grades, go down slight grades or stop while doing so.

Whats the difference between a manufacturer that builds a 1/2 ton full size pickup with a plastic bed, and one that uses plastic in the sunroof frame? Are they not both stress tested?
Anyone here who has a '22 or 23 new full size pickup truck (any brand) planning on keeping it beyond 60000 miles (96,0000 kms) ?

It wasnt even just a stripped truck he was using the payload number from. I think it was Ram's max advertised, which was a regular cab 2x4 gasser 3500 DRW. This dudes cruising around in a cummins 4x4 pimp trim. I bet the payload was a solid 2000 lbs lower.

Its really amazing. Some people are so opposed to buying any other brand that they will load up the tundra as if its a 1 ton and act like nothings wrong.

And then go on and on about simplicity even though a Ford or GM HD truck runs an iron block push rod V8 :bananadance:

I love the MaxTrax on the roof.

"Gonna put a house on my supertanker sized truck. Better put some MaxTrax on there too so everyone knows what a badass overlander I am while I roll down the paved road to my designated spot in the RV park".

What is the difference between an 80k Ford F150 with 60 thousand miles on it selling for 40k 5 years later or a Toyota Tundra with 100k miles on it selling for the same 40k during the same 5-year period? Obviously either the market values it more or the Toyota brand overall is established with more reliability than the Ford brand.

The plastic bed probably doesn't rust as bad up North as a metal one.

There's also fewer of them. Supply and demand, fewer trucks for sale commands a higher resale price. Tundra's historically have phenomenal mechanical reliability and resale, no doubt.

They sell maybe 1/7 or 1/8th as many Tundras as F150s yearly.

I saw a guy in a Tundra last week with a sticker/picture of a truck towing the spaceship and it said, "yeah it'll tow your boat".

Almost as cringe as those Truck Nutz.

OH man, looks like it was an official Toyota sticker. Haha, Clowns. But I guess it's no worse then the Ford Lightning towing the million pound train or the Chevy tool-box-denting-the-bed commercials. All catering to the lowest common denominator.

When I looked I didnt see the prices as being all that different for similar year, trim and miles.

People also conveniently forget to include the fact that F150's could be had for 20% under MSRP without too much issue up until 2020 when the "supply constraints" caused low inventory. My 2014 F150 Lariat with virtually every option was something like $42-43k with an MSRP of $57k. That is starting to return again as Ram is starting to throw down some discounts and I am sure GM and Ford wont be too far behind. People still cant even find the Tundras they want so I am sure they will pay some obnoxious prices for them and then brag about resale.

Ford's beds are aluminum. Rust isnt really a concern.

You can still get them well under invoice if you know where to look. Even during the tightest of the supply chain constraint my special order was 3% under invoice.

No doubt. I paid MSRP for my Raptor 3.5 months ago, which was a victory in my book.

LOL. I was lucky enough to get a $50 credit for auto start stop removal as well.
