Tough one for you. you mentioned you go to the ranch often, do you need a truck?

For me, i don't need one so it's easier decision, and we are loving our new 22 GX so far :)

I don't necessarily need a pickup truck, but it's more convenient to just toss my bags in the bed, for example. If I need to haul something or move something big, like a dead hog (or any carcass) for the buzzards for example, I just tie a rope and drag it along. If it's something that I would need put on the truck bed, I can just hitch up a trailer on a GX.

If there was some kind of guarantee (not going to happen, I know) that I can get my hands on a '22 TRD Pro that's not marked up too high, I would much prefer waiting and getting that. Although my wife isn't too fond of trucks, she's OK'd me getting a Tundra. The uncertainty surrounding that is why I am looking at the GX again. As a third option, if I could find a '21 TRD Pro for a reasonable price, I would reconsider getting that, too.

As a 6'3" guy the GX is not very comfortable for me. The seats are clearly designed for people much shorter. No leg support. The new tundra in the upper trims is much nicer than the GX IMO. I know the 22 GX has better tech coming but it's the same basic layout. The GX is clearly the red headed step child of the Lexus line up. NX, RX, LX all have way way nicer seats and layout. Don't spend the money on the GX, just get a 4Runner.

To clarify; GX has improved tech from that gross system of yester-year, no better tech vs tundra. The Tundra tech used in the new NX is great.

Can’t believe no one has brought up the Sequoia?

Seems like the logical step when considering between a mid size SUV and a full size truck.

I've considered the T4R new and used. All 4x4 Toyotas have become unicorns it seems. The ones that are available are marked up and/or not the trim I want. I want at least a TRD Off Road Premium for the 4Runner. I'm only 5-10 so none of these vehicles pose any problems for me. Though I do agree that having sat and driven a Tundra, the roominess is definitely a big plus even for a shorter guy like myself.

That's true but the bonus of getting what seems to be the last refresh of the GX means getting to have at least an updates dash and the V8. I am guessing that by 2024-2025, the GX and LX will go the same way as the Tundra, adopting the TGNA DNA.

Around where I live, that's as rare as any Toyota with or without mark up, being that one with no mark up is even rarer. That's what makes it so tough for me right now. I feel like my choices are being funneled.

We've enjoyed our GX so far, it's an old and reliable design with some Infotainment updates (apple and android car play) for the 2022.
Just like my aged whisky :)

I am in the same position as you were but the GX460 was crossed off my list pretty fast... I just cant get myself to purchase a new vehicle that hasn't completely been redesigned for over a decade! I currently drive a 2016 limited 4Runner and would be all over a new generation GC460 or 4Runner. The new screen on the 22 GX is nice but I feel like its still outdated when comparing to other manufacturers. MPG is also a big deal for me and I am eager to check out the build configurator once it goes live for the new Tundra. Best of luck to you and congratulations on the new vehicle!

If this is your wifes car, then yes, it should be what she wants. My wife wanted an X3 and kept asking for my advice. I gave her my advice but I could tell that she really wanted the car so I told her to get what she wants. She is happy with her decision and I am sure that your wife will be as well.

    Congrats on the GX.

By chance, which car did you trade in?

I gave my wife my GX and plan to trade her MDX in on a Tundra.

Considering a GX 460 for my wife, she is driving a CRV and really likes it. Can find numerous 18/19 460's with low miles for mid 40's..
Seems like a really nice ride for that money. Would I get rid of my Tundra for a GX for me? Nope.

Sell your Taco privately, then buy out the lease and pocket the cash.

    OP, you did well!

ALL my vehicles in my fleet are old, but damn good ones.

Wife drives a GX470 and I drive everything else. When we do travel we take the Lexus GX470 as it is just a perfect traveling vehicle!

@hskbvn the 2022 lx600 was just announced. It's ugly imo, 6 figures, and lower in pwr at 406hp.

I wouldnt buy one, but figured I'd share what the US Landcruiser option is now.
