2022 Tundra - NO auto dimming rear view mirror on $60k truck

Every vehicle I have owned it the last 20 years didn't need the auto dim due to the rear window blackout. Side mirror auto dim is nice as I only put 30% on the two fronts.

 

The Canadian vs US option packages are confusing. Whish we could have the same choices as the US trucks.

I'm still not sure if a Canadian SR5 Crewmax TRD Offroad with the 5'5" box will have the larger gas tank or the 22 gallon tank. Anyone know?

 

I love rear auto dim mirror. Miami is full of idiots that put HID or LED bulbs in reflector housing, blinding everyone. With that said why am I not surprised with this. Toyota sometimes does things that make you wonder. Save here, save there but still charge a premium.

 

My SR5 Off Road long box came with a 122 L tank (32.2 gallon)

 

I found the Canadian brochure and it stated the 32 gallon tank is part of the sr5 pkg.

Used on new Land Cruiser

Still need to open up the upper console to see if there is a plug is there for the mirror. I would guess there is as I could not find a different part number for the components up there.

 

okay, okay where an we get the oem mirror and will it work on the TRDSport

 

Not sure about Canada version but in US you have to choose a separate package for bigger gas tank. Also for auto dim mirror, not standard. I figured at the $65k price you'd get bigger tank and a true HD camera level quality rear view mirror, but that's also an upgrade. Not even standard with Limited.

 

imagine my surprise when I found out the back of my center console doesnt have the usb or usb-c in it for the backseat. just the outline of where ones can go into. speaking of which, anyone know the universal ones on sparks are able to fit in there? thinking about turning that into project to do if probable

 

I had same feeling when I looked in the back of center console on my TRD sport premium and it was just blank plate. But it looks like same size hole as the one inside the center console compartment. Wandering if I can buy another oem one from inside the center console and fit into the back then splice a cable into it.

 

I just contacted sparks and they said it's a direct replacement if you have a USB port there. if not you would have to drill holes.

 

In Canada, the SR5 and up all have the big fuel tank. The SR5 TRD Off Road, does not have the auto dim mirror. Gotta go up to Limited for that I think.

 

Is it in the brochure?

You also have to do consider the possibility that Toyota made a business decision due to supply chain issues: not to hold up a $60k truck because of a mirror.

 

My 21 don't have the compass in the mirror and it kinda drives me crazy

 

In the US, rear seat USB charging comes in the Limited Lower package, which also gets you bed power and wireless charging. It does seem like a silly thing to have to add another package to get.

 

I'm sure the configurations make sense to someone at Toyota but they are hard to parse even using the build and price tool on their website. And combined with the fact that dealers are the one's who order trucks makes it hard-at least by me- to find a truck with the features I'm interested in without just going up to a Platinum. I'm seeing SR5's fully optioned that are kissing $60k.

I definitely agree . I just purchased a 2024 SR5 with the XP package. 61K no autodimming mirror. just the plain manual mirror. You may want to check bobsmirror.com for an upgrade which will come with instructions. Tundras aren't the only vehicles being treated this way.

Here in the US at least you can get the digital mirror on SR5 trim with a package... even with the 6.5' bed. I absolutely love it.

 

$60k is the new $30k for trucks of the recent past.

 

I thought the same when I started looking, but realized it’s really on par with everything else. My pay actually increased at a greater pace than truck prices since my 2012 purchase.
What did you pay for your XP in 2018? Looks like you can get a ‘24 right now for about $50-51k for an SX. (Not sure what XP is optioned with)

And oh, @Tundrastruck91, they also get power seats back in ‘25.
