Had my truck for 5 days now. Driving in the dark last night - wondering why my mirror wasn't automatically dimming with the truck lights behind me. Answer: No auto diming rear view mirror or garage door opener after spending $60k on my 2022 Tundra CrewMax Long Box SR5 with Off Road package (Canadian Truck).

Toyota - are you frickin kidding me?? Spent $60k ++ (Canadian) on a truck and you can’t include an auto dimming rear view mirror!!!! Unbelievable.

The CrewMax 5.5 bed SR5 and SR5 Off Road both have the auto dimming mirror and garage door opener.

The exact same truck with a 6.5 bed gets the old flip mirror. Like the cars from the 1970’s. Paid more money for the 6.5 bed and get less with the same package.

I guess Toyota thinks if your truck is a foot longer you don’t need it because the car behind you is a foot further back.

And for those Canadians who ordered a TRD Sport you are getting the same surprise.

i’m sure you did, but did you confirm that this was expected? This seems like a strange omission between two identically spec models, save bed length.

Well that's too bad. One would think that would be part of a 60k package.

Having said that, caveat emptor guides my purchases.

When I ordered the truck it was not 100% clear what would be on it. My truck was the first 2022 SR5 Off Road Long Box delivered. I read 2022 SR5 Off Road would have the auto dim mirror. My last 4 SR5 Off Road trucks since 2010 had auto dimming mirrors. So I assumed that the same model, newer and more expensive truck would have it.

The part where I'm surprised is the 5.5 box trucks get it and 6.5 box does not. Same models - both SR5 and SR5 Off Road.

But why would it not be included? It's not a SR model.

Talk to your dealer? Ask for the mirror? It's an easy swap.

Thinking the same. I know they won't give me a mirror yet we will figure out a solution and what is required. Parts guy is already looking into it. I will get a mirror installed.

I'm just shaking my head why this is not standard on this model. What makes a 6.5 bed not get one.

If it's any consolation, Toyota (like every other manufacturer) actually installs never-dimming mirrors when this option is selected. So enjoy being able to actually dim your rear view mirror, which I do not have the ability to do in my '20 with my "auto-dimming mirror".

If someone would confirm the it fitting a 2.5 gen, I would happily trade-down my auto dimming, homelink mirror. I never use it with the exception of the compass.

You didn't get tow hooks either btw....

Jokes aside, that sucks. Hopefully it's an easy swap as another posted. But I agree, for 60k that should of been standard.

Ya - I would vent about the tow hooks as well yet everyone else has that covered for me. Also - and no air dam. It was a "delete" with the Off road package. Don't have to worry about a stuck or broken air dam.

Once I figure out a swap for the mirror and part numbers I will post it. Don't need the garage door opener.

Hmmm... Truck is too long to fit in the garage - maybe that's the reason they did not install the home link mirror.

I don't park mine in the garage on a regular basis but I still utilize the Homelink often. I normally go in and out of house through my garage.

Simple answer. Yours is a long bed so it won't fit in the garage so no need for homelink. And a long bed is soooo long that it should keep vehicles waaaay back from you so headlights should not be a problem!! Honestly not sure why Toyota chose to do that but hopefully they just screwed up and owe u a new mirror.

Man I spent 4 k less on a limited off road with the digital rear view mirror. I didn’t know a sr5 could be 60?

With todays exchange rate it works out to $US 47k

Just for entertainment we can do the gas exchange as well - filled up the truck at $1.45 a liter yesterday - about $US 4.30 a gallon

The things they omit are so ridiculous. Probably no auto up/down windows that a Sienna LE had in 2011.

    Don't feel too bad.
I have an auto dimming mirror and wish it was a manual flip because it doesn't get dark enough if the tinted sliding rear window is open. Some headlights driving behind me are too bright. I don't have that problem with my other manual flip cars.

My experience with mine as well. But OP obviously has a differing opinion of them having had 4 and wanting one more.

I’d rather have that than auto-dimming like I currently do. Auto dimming doesn’t work if you have 5% tint on the windows

Man that really stinks, but I felt the WTF Toyota moment when I went to check out a 22 SR5 at the local dealer and could not believe a 53k truck didn't have a power driver seat. Literally made me walk away from it at that moment. I realize you can get a power driver seat with a package which I obviously will do but come on Toyota how the heck aren't power seats standard equipment...are you kidding me!?

My ‘21 SR5 TRD Off Road has an auto dimming mirror. I find it very useful. Everyone here drives with their brights on after dark. It doesn’t matter if they’re going through a neighborhood or driving on the interstate. It’s infuriating, and I don’t understand it.

You can thank everyone that put LED bulbs in halogen housings for scattering light everywhere and blinding us all.

Yeah, there’s a lot of that, too. But way too often, it’s hi-beams. Older vehicles with all four of their (factory) headlights lit up. I’m not from the South, and it’s one of the things I don’t understand here. I grew up dimming my hi-beams the second I saw an oncoming vehicle. No one here cares at all.
