Lol, no kidding! I can understand the cause of the delay, but it doesn't help my patience on not being able to even bring home a brand new truck; its a real tease to wait months for the truck, test drive it, and then leave it at the dealer. First world problems for sure!

It would certainly bind my britches. I had an issue with my 2020 Tundra that was ongoing for over 8 months and I didn't have the truck for about two of those months. I called Toyota corporate to complain and discovered that they channel the calls to a call center. After finally getting to talk to someone they said they were going to send out an engineer to resolve the issue but I had to wait. I was done and sold the truck. Unfortunately in Canada we don't have a lemon law.

I suppose it depends on the state, but even though the laws exist, they are a joke. I have no intention of pursuing such for one issue, but I spoke with a lemon law lawyer in TN to see where I stand for future issues. He pretty much said, good luck...LOL. He says even though the law is worded pretty straight forward, it takes an extreme case of issues to win a claim. Part of our law is the vehicle is in the shop 30 days during the first year. I'm in the mid 20s already! Hopefully, I just get the truck in the next week or so and love it, done deal.

Dang. This is so frustrating to me, and it’s not even my truck. I don’t expect stuff like this from Toyota. I absolutely loathe waiting on the extremely slow wheels of the warranty process to turn.

It's not only a Toyota problem, it's an everyone problem.

I had a major issue with Brake failure on a 17 TRD Pro 4Runner. Took three weeks, but senior tech arrived with barrage of Computer diagnostic equipment. Was out over a month without the 4Runner and gave me a Highlander. It was hunting season......I did try to minimize the mud and keep it clean :). Seriously, the dealer took care of it and had the entire brake system replaced from disks to the integrated Master cylinder unit.

Yeah I get that. But not having deal with this is overwhelmingly the reason I chose the truck I did. I understand that a lot of it is probably out of Toyota's control, but it still sucks.

The first video is some pretty trivial stuff. The hood alignment can easily be fixed with an adjustment. The molding on the roof missing and now they are using body sealant that's painted is a good thing and is something other manufactures have been doing for years. The roof moldings where constantly coming off on the prior generation. Looking at light though the a closed tailgate and judging that it must be misaligned is just silly. A little overspray on the cargo track? It was probably sprayed by a third party, not a Toyota issue.

Hey thanks, I haven’t seen another similar tundra build yet, I feel fortunate to have found it so quickly as it’s the only build I was interested in.. they have fixed a few cosmetic fit issues while it’s been in the shop and and there’s a couple more they will be working on. I love the truck otherwise. I’m just slightly worried about how many times I’ll be leaving this truck in the shop over the next couple of years..

A rear fender flare was slightly warped causing a 1/4” gap between the truck bed and flare. The window seals are wavy and not consistent with one end sticking out (very common). One head light wasn’t mounted true and had more gap from the body then the other. And both front doors are not sitting level, drivers is about 1/4” low the passenger is about 1/8” high.

Oops! You made a mistake. Surely the vehicle you had trouble with was a 2022, because they are the only ones that have problems, right? I know because I read the forum. So unlike Toyota…this has never happened before…

I can understand the frustration that 2022 owner's can have. When I had my issues I thought this really sucks but Toyota customer care will make this right. Was I wrong. It was one of the worst customer care I've experienced especially for such a large investment. Finding out when you call the 1-800 number that it's just a call center was a shock. When I finally had enough and sold the truck back to a different dealer I disclosed to them the issues with the truck but they still bought it. I got a call from Toyota and said the engineers were ready to look into the truck's issue. I told them I sold it and told them the Toyota dealer that had it and they could have a look at it there. The truck took about a month for the dealer sell. They called me when it did and I asked them if anyone from Toyota corporate had come out and had a look? Nope. The new buyer of the truck just bought it with the problem. All this made and the current issues with Toyota Customer care makes me feel like I dodged a bullet.

Did you have a 2020 or 2022 Tundra? And what was the issue?

2020. A noise in 4WD. After two front diffs, a transfer case, two wheel bearing, both drive shafts and CV axles I had enough after 8 months. They even had the transmission out. At one point Toyota corp told me I may have to live with the problem. I replied "OK then extend my powertrain warranty" which they refused. I took that as they didn't have any confidence in the reliability of the truck but they expected me too? I had about 8K left on the powertrain warranty so I bailed before it was up.

The point of the story was to show how bad my experience with Toyota Customer care is. When I had an issue with my Tundra, Toyota customer failed and not following up and repairing the truck for the new owner certainly sent a message.

How do you like the Frontier? I have seen a couple of them on the road. They look sharp.

I do like it but we will see after some time how the reliability is. The old Frontier was know to be very reliable and hopefully the new Frontier would be the same. As far as likes, very quiet interior, very good power, nice head unit and very comfortable inside. As far as dislikes, heavy steering and it could be a touch lighter especially around town, fit and finish not up to the same quality as my 2018 Tacoma and no telescoping steering but it really isn't an issue for me.

debadged, diamondback, window tint, dirty deeds exhaust.
Loved the looks of those, just wish FORD new what a sliding rear window looked like. That little porthole on the back window makes no sense to me. The usability of the F250 does have its advantages over a 1500 series truck.

What a nightmare. I’m not surprised at all that the dealer just sold it knowing it still had the problem that you spent 8 months trying to solve.

Thanks for posting that. I had the same experience with Toyota Customer service. My dealer was fine and kept me in the loop on the repairs.

I got my truck back from the dealer today, complete new rear differential to fix the leaking main pinion seal, doors leveled, headlight straightened, fender flare attached better, and window seals replaced with the same crappy seals. Anddddd now I have wind noise coming in from the typical drivers top of a arm location. Window seal location. Fixed a bunch of stuff but created a new one.. in time this thing will be perfect lol

Just my $0.02. My experience with Toyota customer service has been terrible. They are not only unhelpful, the "case manager" assigned to my issue first claimed that he didn't receive any information from my side, then lied about what the dealer was supposedly telling him. I had the dealer's service manager on the line and he plainly told the Toyota case manager that he was lying. When the Toyota case manager realized that the dealer's service manager was on the line, he "miraculously" found the correct information.

On the other hand, there are companies that bend over backwards to serve the customer. My daughter's KIA Soul had a small fluid leak from the axles seal of the transmission. The dealer said that there was a parts shortage so they would have to wait several weeks for the seal to be delivered. It was literally a $5 part. He called KIA to confirm the delivery time and when he explained the issue to the KIA corporate guy the answer was: "We don't have the seal, but we have complete new transmissions. We will send you one overnight. Replace the entire transmission and don't have the customer waiting." Done under 10 yr / 100k miles powertrain warranty with zero $ from my side.

Has anyone had issues with the front fenders denting really easily? My truck was in service at Toyota for 2 days for a new tire and in my possession for 2 days. Multiple dents on the right fender and 2 on the left. The dents are on the curve above the flare trims and before it angles out. No clue how it happened. They look like door dings but I didn't park next to anyone in the 2 days it was back in my possession. I cleaned my truck right before they serviced it just to take note of existing damage.

Someone at the axle assembly plant wasn't torquing the nuts down properly or maybe the robot was out of spec.

Hi tundraiggy73, curious if your view has changed since it has been almost year since this post. What trend on quality (positive or negative) are you seeing on these 3rd gen Tundras?
