I would say if it becomes undrivable were you feel it’s unsafe I would call them immediately

Finally got my 22 tundra into the dealership, they said one of the sensors malfunctioned to set off the plethora of onboard messages. But, now the sensor is working fine. I’m wondering if when I changed out my tires & wheels that set it off.‍♂️ If the check engine light comes back on, I’ll be back here posting…

Ok I got my truck back from the dealership last Thursday and have drove it all weekend and no issues (knock on wood). Hopefully after 30+ days it seems ok.

I had the check engine light go off last weekend as well. It was the "Grille malfunction" notice and the "Parking brake" malfunction. Many on the Tundra FB group has said it was a software issue that just needed an update, which turned out to be true. I brought it in sunday and mentioned to the service advisor to check the toyota database for updates. I got my truck back the next day. No further issues as of now.

I picked my new Tundra up this Monday (4/18), and by Thursday (4/21), I had 105 miles on it when my engine light came on with the "parking support brake malfunction", sensor issues, and other engine issues. My message center even said, "engine in low power mode - see dealer". I brought the truck immediately to the dealer and mentioned the wastegate issue and to look there if possible. The service tech looked at me confused and said "what is the wastegate". I was shocked.

Anyhow, the truck is at the dealer now. Waiting to hear back from them. Hoping it's not the wastegate problem we've all heard about. The last thing I want is for the whole cabin to be taken off the chassis by a service tech only to be put back on and never be the same again.

The build date was March 22nd. I just got a call from the dealer and they told me it's the wastegate and they won't get an answer back from Toyota till next Wednesday or Thursday. You'd think after all the blowups on Youtube and forums Toyota would do something about it by now. Very disappointed.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the build date just the month and the year there’s no actual day on the door sticker

    3/22 as in 3/2022?

I saw someone post a screenshot of build info including production date. VIN required.

That’s why I was asking someone posted a march 22nd build date I’m guessing that is misinterpreted

Wondering if the spanking new member's third post is not total BS, especially with the hyperbole about cab removal (not required).
Could be wrong, if so I apologize to the OP, but post smells a bit off.

I just experienced the grille shutter, parking brake malfunction check engine lights (CEL) yesterday afternoon after my first oil change. I drove the truck back to the dealer who is stating that the trucks grille shutters system needs replaced since reflashing the EPU did not resolve the errors.

I don’t have a lot of confidence that replacing these shutters will resolve my CEL, has this solution been successful for others with the same CEL?

I asked about oil pressure on a thread because mine indicated low oil pressure and it's the algorithim they use on the Tundra. You'll notice pressure is high when it's cold and goes down as the oil gets warmer. The pressure also goes up with higher rpms, I worried about it until I read more about it.

I also have a 2022 Tundra (Platinum). bought it in Sept 2022. It has been at the dealer 4 times now with the grille shutter malfunction (other malfunctions also showed). They have replaced and “reinitiated’ the grille shutter several times. Leave the dealer and it drives fine until the next start. Issues then came back. Initial issue was after driving in snowy/icy weather, but other times not weather issues. Getting somewhat concerned and unhappy.

I also have a 22 tundra TRD sport that a month ago in cold ass weather the check engine light popped on and grill shutter malfunction and parking support malfunction messages appeared. Took into dealer and they said the grill shutter motor was a block of ice and needed to be thawed - so they did and that tripped the other message. Cleared code and sent me on my way. Here we are a month later same thing has happened but it’s 50 degrees out. Back to the dealer. I have 36k miles

Since my last post, I have been busy. But my truck went back in for the same issue. At this time they say there was some sensor tied with the battery that was causing the problem. They need to order the part and it will be 1 to 2 weeks. So I am driving it with all the messages Visible (although short distances). Will be interesting to see what they come up with now. This was the fourth time it was in for the same issue.

I had the same thing happen yesterday. Apparently a small stick/twig was in the air dam per dealer diagnostic check.

Update - the dealer replaced the entire grill shutter assembly to include the motor and after having it 3 days gave it back to me. I drove it 30 miles and the CEL popped back on with same two messages about grill shutter malfunction and parking brake malfunction as well. Back to square one.

I bought a late 21 year build as well, and that parking brake malfunction error came on on 2 separate occasions, both times while driving on the highway and accelerating to above 90mph to pass. Both times it went away on its own within a couple of days, but ever since I had the ECU updated by the dealer, I did not have it happen. So yeah, seemingly a firmware/software issue that is hopefully resolved now with latest updates.

If you get grill shutter malfunction stop and do not drive truck. They have a plastic grill in the front of the truck that is the (new) thermostat on that year model. Had to get mine replaced. Broke down on me but no problems after fix. Just cheep plastic that was put on during manufacturing that should be recalled for year models. You can manually open it if you can reach under and tie strap it open but I don’t recommend that unless you are really in a bind.
