I bought my Tunda two weeks ago. The first time I put lumber in the bed it tore the bedline. This is Toyota answer.

Hi Leslie, I copied my service manager, Joel Valdez, on this e-mail to help with the follow -up regarding your bedliner issue. Joel took photos and sent them to

I followed up with our Toyota representatives this morning and they did decline the repair since it was outside influence.

:eek2: Wow that begs the question of what they expect the beds to be used for. Feather transportation?

Outside influence technically yes but if the first time you take your brand new tundra outside the sun bubbles the paint, that’s still inexcusable.

I’m guessing your next email will be much more strongly worded. Do you have pics of the liner? Can’t see them

    ^^ This ^^

Warranty declines are the same as bad news from a doctor. Always get a second opinion. I've heard of enough people complaining about dealers just saying a warranty repair is declined because they don't want to spend time performing discounted labor.

BTW...Toyota of Brookfield has a terrible rating with the BBB. 1.2 stars out of 5 and the entire Napleton Auto Group has had 244 complaints in the last year. They might treat people great and be very trustworthy, but the BBB rating seems to disagree. I would def get a second opinion.

There's a growing number of people having issues with this liner. I posted when I first got my truck about how easily it is to peel off....that's not supposed to be the case. I hate how rough it is and how useless/fragile it is at the same time. Doesn't have to be rough to be tough.

Pretty curious how they prep the plastic bed prior to applying the bed coating. They may just wipe it down and spray it. Regardless, I'm not too surprised the spray in liner won't stick easily to shiny slippery plastic.

Hate to say it, but I'm not surprised at all. My Toyota customer service experience has been beyond terrible with my Gen 3. This is definitely going down in the "never buy again" brand for me. Ironically, this experience has been so bad, it's made past experiences with other brands seem not too bad, they are back on the will consider again list

Not sure why you would want have a spray on bedliner over the plastic. Jus unloaded a couple hundred pounds of rock and no signs of damage.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I highly doubt anyone is spraying over the plastic liner…..right?? I really hope that’s not what’s happening

On the bed without the liner I would assume. I’ve never heard of spraying over the plastic liner. OP?

The new beds and beds on tacoma are not metal, it is plastic/composite. So yes, bedliner is applied on that.

Ahhh I see! That makes more sense than spraying a drop in liner lol. Wasn’t trying to be argumentative hivetyrant just didn’t realize!

Not surprising that there are adhesion problems with this. Sorry for the issues OP. Hope you get things resolved

whoops I was about to apologize for a blunt response too, I'm new to American trucks and didn't realize the Tundra didn't have the composite liner before this!

Does anyone have experience with the bed mat? It may be a cheaper alternative to a spray-in, and you can remove it when needed.

    Too many, but not enough....
Isnt the bed of the 3rd gen plastic? I know the tacomas have been for a while, i dont recall seeing many taco owners with spray on liners, usually its the plastic drop in ones. Maybe it doesnt adhere as well to plastic?

A bed mat is the answer from what I've read.

I picked up the bed mat from the dealer for roughly $140. It didn't make sense to me to spray line the plastic bed. I think its a good compromise for my limited use of the truck and a much better price.

    Good Day Community,

Hoping everyone out there having this issue, will gain some traction and Toyota will finally do something about it..

Went to the dealer for routine oil change, had them check the bed liner, stated they weren't able to warranty it.

Contacted Toyota Relations, they informed me to take it to another dealer, after doing so, they referred me to authorized body shop for a quote, took that quote to the dealer and waited. Finally got a response stating " AT THIS TIME TOYOTA HAS DECLINED TO REPLACE THE BED LINER".

Called Toyota back stating this is what's happening. They finally got back to me stating this is due to outside influence, Toyota not responsible.

    What to do now,
    - Take it back to that body shop and cover the cost
    - wait and see
    - buy a bed mat to prevent further damage.
    - continue to take on Toyota, find another dealer that will address this.

Would be interested to see some photos of the damage you have from loading wood. Is it cosmetic or something major? I had the same bedliner in my 2014 Tacoma until I bought this '23 Tundra. The bedliner was great and no issues. I did also add the rubber bed mat so things did not slide around.

A bedmat or bedrug would be a much better choice. Going with a spray in liner is only gonna put stress in your life. This thread is about people that have the spray in liner and it has started to peel away.

I don’t want a spray liner and my dealer is trying to take it off the build , but I may get stuck with one. I’ll just put a rubber Matt over it if I’m stuck with it.

they were able to mod the build of the 25th anniversary sienna we have coming so maybe they can pull this off too.

buts thats not worth not taking the truck over , everything else is what I wanted

My 1794 came with the spray on liner and I put a Black Armour mat on it anyway. That mat is some heavy duty stuff.
