It looks like Toyota isn't sanding the composite bed before applying the primer/adhesion layer. The bed looked smooth in the pictures above. Their primer/adhesion layer doesn't look like it was sprayed evenly either.

Can’t imagine it’s easy to peel it off - I’m curious to see how lineX does with it. I’m glad Toyota is taking care of you. My salesperson is asking the general manager about it. I’ll probably just take it in after my next stretch of work…. Luckily I live close to the dealership

Following. I've noticed the edges peeling up on my tailgate and I have a chunk out of the tailgate area about the size of a penny. :(

So took it to Line-X today and they got it done. The factory bedliner came off in sheets! He commented he'd never removed one so easily.
It basically looked like there was almost no surface prep. He took plenty of photos since it's Toyota paying for this.

Anyway, here's on shot I took when I picked it up showing a 'sheet' of Toyota factory bedliner that was on the tailgate. (Random truck behind him, not mine obviously) The rest of the bed was the same.

New Line-X liner looks great and nice to have Line-X warranty on it now.

Glad to hear they took care of it! Got pictures of the new liner?

A few pixs of the Line-X. (Already got a little dirt in it.) We talked when I dropped off on the Tundra logo...try to save it or not. My response was let them decide once they strip it what makes the best product/solution.

He did measure the Toyota liner thickness and was averaging around 30 mils. Commented that Line-X typically shoots for around 120-130 mils.

Looks great! Would have been nice to have the letters across there. That’s crazy the difference in thickness.

Will never understand the need to bed line a plastic bed. Seems like a complete waste of money. Had the bed mat in my Tacomas to prevent things sliding around and to protect the bed, it worked well.

Me either. But Toyota allocated my truck with it and I wasn’t about to pass on it because I didn’t want to pay for the liner.

the texture is nice - but would have preferred a mat

Tend to agree. Mine was allocated with it as well.

I would probably still get the mat even with the bed liner.

Maybe others experience is different than mine, but anything I put on that factory spray liner is going to get torn up. Mine is literally like 24 grit sandpaper. I installed a bed slide, so not a problem; if I hadn't, a mat would absolutely be necessary for anything that I actually care about.

This will likely be my approach as well. Truck was allocated with, but I’d prefer the unlined bed.

This 100% ! Had two Tacomas. Bed mat to prevent slipping and thats it! There is absolutely no need for a liner on top of the composite bed!

people like to spend money. A plastic is a bedliner. If plastic bed liners didnt trap moisture, they wouldn’t have been replaced by spray in
