Does Under Cover use the existing cargo rail screw holes to attach the Tonneau rails or do they still use the old style clamps?

After a couple weeks of use, how are you liking it? Do you see much leaking at the seams? Does this style lean against the cab or sit straight up? Allows for bed camera, right?

    thanks

If anyone is having this issue with their cover, put silicone spray on both sides of the little rubber fins that press against the tailgate. My tailgate would just make an audible click, I had to pull it open. I read this trick online and it immediately solved the problem.

So the BAKFLIP MX4 TONNEAU COVER is the rebranded OEM? Has anyone gotten their hands on one, or know if the dealers have the OEM ones in stock? I'm in desperate need of a quality cover.

I was having this issue but it resolved itself after a few opening also (I was a little worried at first as I would press the key fob and nothing would happen)…

So either spray or wait for it to resolve with enough openings

I had gotten my OEM from Sparks parts back in January…but then my dealer told me he had gotten the ability to order them (and he was price matching)

…so keep checking back with your dealers and ask about price matching as shipping can be steep from some of these places

I have the OEM cover…doesn’t cover the light/camera and leans against the cab which I know some don’t like.

My old MX4 on my 2015 did this also and I didn’t have any issues (abrasion and such where the foam touched the cab)…and the MX4’s foam wasn’t as thick/sturdy as this new OEM foam block.

You will get the same water intrusion points as your Extang however (front part where you caulked and rear at the top corners of the tailgate )but it’s minimal in my opinion.

Either way it stays very stable heading down the highway asit’s leaning on the cab and supported by the rods…so the wind doesn’t catch any part of it. I use it in this fashion at least 2X per month.

No complaints/ regrets for me with it

Thanks for the feedback. I actually like the lean against the cab style, particularly after using the style I have now. I helped someone move this week, so I spent 4 days driving 100 or so miles a day with the cover folded back; I probably wouldn't have realized the issues otherwise!

I'm hoping I can send this one back, since it's starting to fail after two weeks. If I can get it returned, I'm debating between the F1 and MX4.

Thanks for adding the additional follow up. I'll put my plan to install the Extang on hold.....

Hey Juice, nice truck first off, I have the same one on order, only a double cab. So is the OEM cover difficult to remove & re-install?

Not really just fold up and then unscrew the two knobs under the front panel and lift off. The rails that the cover rests on would be left. I have the oem on my truck.

What is the reason to get one of these rather than the other Truxedo covers that are -$700 cheaper? I like that this is more heavy duty but Im only getting a cover to keep items in the bed out of the rain, so I dont know if something like this would be worth it for me.

It's up to each individual when making a choice, so here some thought I put in to my choice.
I find the hard rolling with aluminum slats to be a little more secure, knife will slice open the cheaper one and be done. Yes, they can all be broken into at varying degrees.
Hard roll will support around 400lbs even distributed, not that I would haul anything on it, but living up north, snow has a tendency to accumulate, thus hard roll was choice.
Stretching, the non supported vinyl soft roll cover will need to be replaced sooner as it will stretch out and not seal as well in time.

I do not have one on my 22 Tundra, but did have one for a couple years on the Titan I traded in. My take on the product:
Pros: very secure, sturdy, and quite water tight (I had zero leaks with no extra effort after instal), and it looks great

Cons: the obvious loss of bed space (length and height) with the big storage cylinder, the nylon strap used to pull the cover closed (this was ALWAYS in the way or got pushed to the front so I had to climb into the bed to get it), the cover was said to be "self-retracting" but this took constant maintenance to achieve (meaning when unlocked and given a slight nudge it was supposed to roll all the way back, if not lubricated weekly or more it took a hard shove to get it fully open), and lastly, the biggest detractor to me was needing a key everytime I wanted to open the cover.....oh yeah, one more thing off the top of my head, it had to be closed quite gently the last few inches otherwise the plastic end caps would break and push off the rails - does that sound like personal experience?

The Roll-n-Lock product is certainly quality, being nicely constructed and pleasing to the eye, but the cons far outweigh the pros in my book. I wouldn't buy one again.

I hear you and had a $400 Access cover on my last truck. However, security for what it's worth was one reason I went with this cover. The aluminum slats will make it a little more of a challenge to get in vs cutting through the traditional vinyl cover. It's also nice because it doesn't flop around at highway speed so that's nice when you have the rear window down. And, I really like the look of the mesh overlay vs the traditional vinyl as well. Yes, expensive but figured why stop now after dropping 67K. :)

I ordered the Truxedo ProX15 and am waiting for delivery ($519 from tonneaucovered.com). Was thinking about the SentryCT as well but have read about issues rolling up in cold weather, like it just won't roll up as if the slats are locked. I'm in Wisconsin so cold is a reality. No doubt SentryCT is more secure but for my situation security isn't a factor. All things equal i likely would have paid the extra for the SentryCT if I could have confirmed the cold-weather issue was misguided.

Would like to hear others thoughts on the cold-weather effects on hard rollups.

I have seen those with BAK X4S hard roll having issues in the cold. I have had the CT on a 20 Taco and now 22 Tundra, no issues in the cold living in MT. Truxedo resides in So. Dak and winters there can be just as brutal there.

Thanks for the info. Being you bought it twice it's a safe bet you like it. How has it been overall? Any issues concerns you have with it? Quick review of it would be appreciated. May still have time to modify my order so with your comments about it working well in cold weather I may just do that.

On the Taco, it was 5ft bed, rolled up nicely, Tundra is 6.5ft bed, a little more bulky and is about 70lbs. Still doesn't cover the back window, rolls up enough to put 4 ft diameter 200gal water tank in the back. Really liking the cloth look over the cheap vinyl look. It will mark if you slide something across. I used a shovel to clear off snow and keep the blade up a little with no issues. Highway speeds with back window open you can hear a little rattle otherwise it's quiet. This 6.5ft size they done away with the quick release like I had on Taco, it is now a 7/16 bolt. I would buy it again.

Can anyone with the Rough Country tri-fold tell me if it folds up against the cab? Or how easy it is to remove if it doesn't.

Real trucks.com accepted my return of the Extang Exceed and I ordered the Backflip F1 as it's replacement. I'll post my opinion when installed. They are saying 20 day backlog to ship, hopefully they get it out sooner. When I ordered the Extang, it was a 40-45 day delay and I got it in 5, so fingers crossed.

I'm really impressed with Real Trucks customer service. Are they the parent company to everyone? I called the customer service number listed on the respective web sights to Extang and Bakflip and both numbers were answered by Real Truck customer sevice.

I also ordered the Bakflip F1 from real trucks a couple of days ago. The email confirmation said that it should arrive from 4/6 to 4/11. I'm ok with waiting a bit.

Note sure if it's been noted, but the tailgate on my truck won't pop open due to the bed cover gasket applying just enough pressure to hold it up. This is with the OEM bed cover. Renders the elbow button and the key fob button basically useless.

Mine does that occasionally I found if you hit the fob release button a second time it will open also apply a silicone lubricant to seal and that does the trick

Here are some photos of the Gator SFX tri-fold tonneau cover on my double cab with a 6.5ft bed. I paid $240 plus tax. If people are interested, I'll update this post after I see how it handles its first rain.

Edit: removed photo that didn't show a helpful angle.
