2022 Tonneau covers

ahh….hope that works out. I was focusing on Diamondback direct as I have ended up getting from them directly in the past. They said they are offering no discounts at this point.

 

Looking for setup like this with sliding ladder racks and a tonneau. Does anyone know if This system available to purchase yet for ‘22 tundra with 6.5 bed? Does the factory tonneau work with the TracTac SR?

I have a Bakflip MX4 on my 2019. I'm curious how the OEM cover compares.

 

Very similar designs (I had the MX4 on my 2015).

The OEM 22’ one is a much tighter/snugger install though with weatherstrips in places that I don’t think my MX4 had (like where the cover meets the top of the tailgate).

My truck has sat outside through 5 days of rain/ice during a 2 week period and relatively bone dry thus far so I am pretty pleased.

 

Received my Tonneau cover today for the 2022. The right rail bracket is bent.

 

I've watched videos on how to install the retractable tonneau covers on trucks (none have been '22 Tundra) and have seen how the clamps appear to attach directly to the overhang of the side of the bed. Do the retractable bed liner clamps go directly on to the metal lip of the bed? For some reason I have heartburn about paying $67k for a truck and then scratching the paint by clamping a metal device directly to the metal lip of the truck. Are there ways to attach the tonneau cover clamps without a risk of scratching the paint?

for what its worth, I found a good soft rolling cover for my SR5 from TruXedo. It does the the job for me, covers my bed with minimal leakage, looks decent and works with my bed divider TruXedo TruXport Truck Bed Cover | Tonneau Covers | Truxedo 2021 toyota Tundra Cargo Divider. Bed Cargo Divider - PT76734200 - Genuine toyota Accessory....and before you ask, yes everything fit great

 

Does anyone have the undercover brand with the line x coating?

 

It's the Undercover Armorflex. I was initially wanting this one and have stayed in touch with my local dealer as well as occasionally calling Undercover directly. They have both told me "available in about 30 days" in Dec, Jan, Feb, and again last week, lol. I gave up and ordered the Extang Exceed. Initially, I wasn't any better off as they stated 40-45 days for delivery. I bit the bullet and ordered one this past Monday and got a tracking number showing delivery this Friday!

 

Has anyone pulled the trigger on a Diamondback SE or HD for their tundras? I asked diamondback if they had any photos of fitment on the tundra and they didn’t.

 

I don't think they've started shipping yet, have they? Last I heard (on the forum) D-back was 6-8 weeks from shipping and I don't think I read that post more than a couple of weeks ago.

 

O think they are shipping out now. Their site says 8-11 days.

 

I have a '22 Plat with 5.5' bed. Looking for pics of OEM hard cover open. How does it sit when up against cab and does it cover camera and light?
Considering an X4S as well so if any installed yet share pics of that as well. Heck, if you have any covers installed and haven't posted details/pics yet please do so. Would be very helpful with limited info out there for '22s.

 

There's quite a few pics of the tri-fold cover open (& closed) on the forum. I have it on my truck, but only have pics of it closed. The aftermarket BakFlip MX4 is the exact same design as the OEM tri-fold...just in case that's on your consideration list as well.

Regarding how it sits against the cab: When folded up, there are 3 dense "sponge" blocks that are installed on the the underside of the cover and they rest against the cab when it's opened fully. They prevent the cab from getting damaged. I've had it opened several times for large loads going down the highway at 70mph and they work well.

Regarding covering the camera: The cover does not cover the camera or the 3rd brake light when fully opened. It sits several inches below the 3rd brake light assembly and does not interfere with the viewing.

Thanks for the pics! Does the OEM cover utilize/clamp onto the factory rails, or does it have a little adapter (I think BakFlip does this) that uses the same hole as the factory rails, but drops the factory rails so that they can be used in their entirety?

 

It’s the latter…little brackets that drop the factory rail slightly below so that it can be used in its entirety.
…works the same way that the Bakflip does (same basic design)

 

BakFlip MX4 and the OEM tri-fold cover are 100% the exact same. The only difference is the branding on the outside. BakFlip MX4 & the OEM cover are made by different sides of the same company (REV Group). Regarding the mounting, here are the instructions that show you how the OEM cover makes use of the existing holes. They use a little adapter to "drop" the OEM rails down a few inches. The design from REV Group for that adapter is slightly different for 2022. How's the gap at the tailgate with that cover? I know they will all have a gap, but the one with my Extang cover seems excessive.

Other thing I'm not crazy about is it's tri-fold but covers the rear camera.

 

Not sure who told you that, but the OEM cover definitely does not cover the rear camera.

New to the forum so apologies if I'm butting in, but wanted to share that Diamondback has confirmed fitment for the 22s and are shipping at least some of their lineup so far. I worked with them directly and believe I have one of the first 5.5ft HD covers in the wild. Really happy with it so far. Still need to figure out the cleanest way to better seal each corner (gaps in bed design, not issue with cover design).

Second...looks awesome. D-backs are overkill for me, but I love the look of them. If I was a contractor, I would 100% go with them. I've seen a few up close and I'm really impressed with their quality.

That looks sharp! I'll be going with a SE but probably not until this summer though. My truck isn't going to be here until the end of May.

 

Ordered Friday and arrived today in Ontario. SE model. All I need now is the truck.

 

My Platinum comes in on the 30th and I'm about to pull the trigger on the HD. Can you elaborate on what what gaps on the bed need to be addressed?
