Interesting. I talked to someone at Retrax yesterday and they said they would not have any produced until end of February. They wouldn't even take a pre-order from me. I guess the online dealer is betting on their end of month production also. Do you mind sharing the dealer and the price? That is the cover I am waiting for.

Yep, looks like Spark1234 got the wrong one…his part no was PT954-34221-02, not PT954-34220-02.

Good choice. Just sold mine xr pro for a camper shell, but I loved the retrax. Lifetime warranty, no issues opening/closing ever, and locks in any position. I just wanted something more weatherpoof. The Retrax will leak, but you can minimize it.

??? On previous page shows the 220? If so I am guessing install/adjustment issue. (I have the correct # but not installed yet)

The one that did not fit was the 221 part number. The 220 did fit.

Thanks! Same part number as mine but mine doesn't fit my short bed Mine was dated from a batch on Dec 21. By chance are you able to measure the tonneau cover from rear to where the drip guard gasket starts? Mine is 65" even.

Anybody in this forum buy/install a retractable tonneau cover that fits the 5.5’ bed yet?

    Tonneacovered.com is the website.
Retrax is running a rebate thru February and according to the online dealer I will take advantage of that also. Their online price was great with free shipping.

I followed up on that and sent an email to retrax and got this response on the timeline

    Hey there,
We are currently waiting on Toyota to sign off on the finished lines; so currently we are looking at mid to end of February for a release date.

It is definitely the cover I want as well and the way I looked at it I might as well try and get to the front of the line to get it….

I have a Bakflip on my 2016 Tundra right now…. Not a fan of that cover….

…any specific reason you didn’t like it? I am assuming it was the MX4 hard trifold Tonneau?

I had it on my 2015 and really liked it hence the question.

I can confirm perfect fitment on a 6.5 bed
About 1 hour taking my time by myself. I can probably do it in a half hour now. Also the directions don’t come in the box I found the directions on this site and printed them off pretty simple

I tried Bakflip on a 2019 Ram; no matter what I did, it leaked like crazy!

Looks amazing! Thank you for posting the part number! Can you post pictures of it midway & fully folded up? Also, did your truck come with the oem rail system? Mine has it, and wanted to ensure this cover will fit with the existing rails.

I will be purchasing the same one here:

After getting my 22’ 5.5 OEM Tonneau installed yesterday (and comparing it to the fitment of my 2015 Bakflip) I can see the differences in the two.

While my 2015 Bakflip didn’t leak a lot I can say this OEM 22’ model cover is a lot more snug in every area…and if memory serves me correct I don’t think the Bakflip had this tailgate weather seal/blade that I see on the OEM model.

Got the OEM one installed on my truck yesterday. Not too bad other than making sure to take your time to get the screws out and in without stripping them. I had one screw that didn't want to come out easily and didn't want to go back easily (from the original tie down rails). The other hard part was tightening down the two bolts in the front that hold the cover to the bed rails. With the combination of rubber gasket, metal washer and locking washer and the nut there isn't really a lot of room, especially when you're crawled underneath upside down. Doing it solo, it helped put some weight on the top of the cover to weigh it down so the bolts come through the bed mounts easier. I still wasn't able to get the locking washer in there, but for the time being I think it'll be alright.

The only thing I noticed was the tailgate doesn't seem to want to open by itself, like its getting caught up due to tight fitment, but that just might be down to me adjusting a cover a bit more.

Got this same thing on mine and was worried for a bit…stood around opening/closing to try and “loosen” it and convince myself everything was done correctly.

In the end I realized the rubber seal that contacts the top of the tailgate is the issue (tight fit) and will most likely loosen as it wears down over time.

It might start making sense when you get water in your bed. I had done exactly the same thing for the same reason but found that water pools in the corners of the bed and the hoses block the outflow. I’ve since moved them to the center holes as described in the instructions. YMMV.

Is the pull release on the OEM Toyota cover the thin steel cable type or rope?

I drilled an extra hole in each corner so I could keep the tubes out of the middle and still maintain drainage in each corner.
