So Bakflip.com and Realtruck.com are the same and I can help with both of those sites but BakIndustries.com is the manufacturing side. We are all owned by the same company Truck Hero though.

As a new member and first time truck owner (at 57, lol) - I have read through various posts on the forum on covers. Sorry for the dumb question, but to double check that I got this right - if I order an X4S up here in Canada, to install I will be removing the existing rails, the X4S rails go in their place, and the OEM rails attach to them - correct? So I don’t have to mangle them truck to install it?

bobby, here is the instructions for the revolver x4s for the tundra, but yes, you take off the 2 side OEM rails, put the cover rails on, then re attach OEM rails to the cover rails, you don't remove the front one

So. What about OEM issues. When the dealer says it’s all normal. We all know this OEM trifold is built by bakflip. Any help when the dealer says no?

Yeah. Sucks for sure. And they are just saying “too bad, all tonneaus leak”. So now I’m stuck with a 2000$ (Canadian here) tonneau that is only useful to keep the bad guys out my stuff.

Unfortunately OEM covers are a different situation. Once they are branded OEM, the only option is to go through the dealer.

I reached out to BAK to see what was going on with them and they told me that they were missing materials that they have since got back in stock. If an order was placed today, I would say anywhere from 4-8 weeks. I do see we have about 60 ordered for our warehouses but no ETA on those yet.

Did not read this whole thread but my plan is to get the Retrax One for $1409 plus $125 install fee. My brother has the power one and he's happy with it. Any downside I'm missing other than cost? Thanks.

I’d get a retrax pro at minimum. My retrax pro XR was $1700 from Santana.

the retrax pro mx would probably be $1500. The aluminum will be hold up better in the long run.

Ordered my X4S from Realtruck on Thursday and it was in my driveway Saturday morning. Great service. I have the standard bed and they had 3 in stock when I ordered.

Install was easy and everything fit well. My only gripe is the plastic end caps. They are held on with three tiny plastic clips. One snapped off the very first time I closed the cover. I super glued it back together but that's not very promising. I had an MX4 on my last truck and you could slam it to latch. On this one, if you close with the tailgate open the rails flex and the covers pop off. So it seems like you either have to be very gentle or only shut the cover with the tailgate closed.

My glue fix didn't last very long. As soon as I rolled up the cover the tabs snapped off and the cover will no longer clip in. Need to figure out a way to glue the whole thing on. Not sure how I feel about this. Nice cover but it didn't even make it an hour before it broke.

I ordered a Bakflip MX4 from Santana at realtruck on Friday. It arrived today (Sunday)- super fast shipping. Cover installation was a breeze, even in the 94deg heat. Cover fit and finish seems very good. Overall I'm impressed!

I'm curious if you are getting any leaking from the seams between panels?

I haven't done a good water test just yet. Did go through a car wash and water got through - looked like it was mainly at the corners and tailgate. Also had two extra foam pieces that I'd imagine are for weather sealing but not sure where they go. The blocks that go in the corners by the cab were installed and these blocks are a lot smaller. I'll also be looking to add weather stripping at the tailgate to keep dust out.

Also - for anybody installing the MX4. The instructions that come with it are pretty generic and not specific to the 22 Tundra. The copy available on their website: https://bakindustries.com/images/BAKFlip_2022_Tundra_318S0035_6.2.2022.pdf are much better. The piece of foam I referenced was a filler piece for the cab bumper, which should help with water intrusion from the front corners.

Has anyone on the thread bought the rear tailgate gasket from Retrax (or any brand I guess) and tried fitting it on their '22? I was curious if folks felt like they got a positive connection when closing with it? And if they felt like it helped keep water out of the area where the tailgate/bed meet? https://retrax.com/gate-gasket-seal/2022/toyota/tundra

Update on my Bak F1 experience. Long story short, original F1 leaked terribly from all the seams between panels. I contacted Bak who were great and sent me a second F1; this one leaked in the same manner. They offered to send #3 but stated that was all they could do and I would need to contact whoever I purchased from for any other options.

I contacted RealTruck, who I can not speak highly enough about! My original F1 purchase was back in March. Due to shipping delays with both covers etc it is now 5 months later. RealTruck did not question this nor the problem at all. They worked with me and allowed me to switch my purchase to a RetraxPro and return the F1.

I can not express how good the service and experience has been dealing with RealTruck and Bak. I'll update on the Retrax when that gets installed, hopefully this weekend.
