I just made a tonneau post in the accessories thread actually. Anyone that claims "fits 07-22," isn't true. I ordered Rough Country's hard tri fold which stated it fit but it did not. About 1/2" too short and 1/4" too narrow.

Yup…just saw that and responded (good not bad way)
…there is another post I quoted with a RC fitment from that thread that said it fit so it’s a good question of “why it worked for 1 but not for the other?”

May I ask why you're going with the ProXR vs the OneXR? I know there is the obvious weight capacity increase with the Pro given the materials, but anything else I'm missing when comparing the two?

I'm leaning heavily into a Retrax XR model so I can mount ski boxes and bikes above the bed (and still get access to the bed) but can't decide if the Pro is worth the extra cost for me.

Near as I can tell the only difference is that the XR is made of polycarbonate and the XR Pro is aluminum. Similar to my Pace Edwards Jackrabbit that is polycarb while the more expensive and stronger "Full Metal Jacket" version is aluminum. I have had mine for ~ 5 years and the polycarb has proved to be totally durable. I'd expect the same for the Retraxes.

Has anyone ever bought from Vanguard? Sorry if this has already been mentioned and I simply did not see it. I just sent my RC back and ordered a Vanguard Off Road cover from autoanything. First product from Vanguard I have ever purchased.

I would actually like to have the composite vs the aluminum. However, I live in hot California and the car may spend time under the hot sun. My worry is fading and worse, warping or deforming of the composite, which I think is a form of plastic.

Google composite. They make aircraft, boats and canoes out of it and have been using it in cars for years.

Will do. This one is not expensive at all compared to others. We will see how it is when it gets here!

My Pace Edwards tonneau has a vinyl like cover over the underlying articulating slats... they have some sort of name for it but I don't recall. We have plenty of hot sun here in Maryland... and my truck also gets to Florida. After 5 years the cover still looks great. All you need to do is once or twice a year give it a quick wipe down with 303 protectant and it looks like new. I'd worry more about solid aluminum covers getting dented and maybe scraped. But either type should last and look good for a very long time.

Looking at getting into a new 22 this year and definitely want to have a tonneau cover. Probably just going to go with the Toyota cover option to fit but does anyone know if they are completely waterproof? Will they keep your entire bed dry or does water find its way in through edges?

I have yet to have a tonneau that kept it 100% dry in the back. The Undercover tonneaus seem to be the driest I have ever used. I typically just get a tiny bit of water where the side rail meets the tail gate cap.

My retract is pretty much bone dry except at the lip and sides of the tailgate. The sides where it slides maybe let in a few drops but just in the very heaviest of downpours. Mine has these rubber side seals that work better if they are rubbed with that 303 protectant a couple times a year. Improves the seal and eases the sliding. Bottom line is that nothing really gets wet under there except for maybe something right against the tailgate. But there is enough random moisture that bare steel tools like hex keys or whatever can develop a bit of rust.

That is exactly the reason I would prefer that. However, I’m not sure what kind of composite they make it out of, it certainly is not a carbon fiber reinforced plastic that has made its way to some high performance cars.

Will give them a call to see what the company says regarding heat and UV resistance and warranty.

My tonnopro tri fold has been 100% waterproof for 12 years. unless I hit it with the pressure washer just right then I’ll get a few drops. But rain doesn’t make it in.

Anyone else have any long term ownership experience and feedback with the roll up style tonneaus?

Due to the lack of an OEM cab top canoe rack for the 2022 Tundra, I need a tonneau that works with a bed rack. I was thinking about it and the retractable ones would remove more of the in bed storage than I would like. I was thinking that the roll up style would give me the most flexible access. I don't care a great deal about water intrusion. Our truck bed is usually full of camping gear that would be loaded in dirty and wet after a rainy camping trip anyway. And, I barely use my truck bed for anything outside camping season.

Over the years and trucks, I'm a 3x owner of Roll 'n Lock and I've had absolutely zero issues with their quality, fit or finish.
They're not the cheapest on the block but hey, like with just about anything else in life, you get what you pay for.

That looks like it rolls up underneath. I'm talking about the one's that roll up on top.

I installed the rough country on a Toyota Tundra 2022 Crew Max with cargo management system (rails) last Sunday and took me 1.5 hours as took my time, but, fit well (see Photo). For under $700.00 was good value. Went thru a car wash will little to no water. I would recommend!

I have the factory installed cover on my 6.5’ bed. I live in Seattle. So far it is bone dry and has been through a few rainy rainy days at both Seattle and the WA coast.

    I like the cover quite a bit. I didn’t have a cover on my 2014 1794.

Awesome! Thanks for the advice. I haven’t had one either on my 2012 but would like to use my bed more for hauling stuff that can’t get wet.

Just switched over my retrax and confirmed that it’s a little too short. I tried playing with a little and there’s no way of it sealing out any water.
What a bummer because this thing cost me $1700+

Anyone know where I can find installations instructions for the Toyota tonneau cover? Mine didn’t come with any.
