That's not a baby monitor, that's the recall fix for backup camera issues!

I had the MX4 on my 14 Tundra for 6 years and it held up well. I hauled everything from pallets of product to furniture to hardware store stuff, all with the cover on. You should be ok with a quad, I don’t think it’ll damage the cover to the point you need to replace it. Plus, all the scuffs and scratches will be on the under side of the cover.

Thanks! When we were house hunting, we pulled into the driveway and said - the inside is going to have to be terrible not to take this one ...LOL

Can anyone tell me where I can find a tri fold for sale that I can order now? The Toyota one is backordered until eternity and the Rough Country website says they dont have it for the short bed. I want a Diamondback but I cant afford it at this time.

I ordered the weather tech tri fold on Mother’s Day to find it was backordered, but they said it’s never backordered long… and it wasn’t. It was supposed to be here yesterday… but shipping problem, now says it should be here Friday.

Lomax was in stock when I was looking around that time too (if I recall correctly).

Easy install, less than 2 hours... the fit and finish of the RetraxONE XR is excellent, clamps into the existing bed channel and still allows use of the tie downs. There's still plenty of bed room left, and no flip up covering the rear window/camera

For what it's worth, the front corner channels are hollow, the drain tubes easily feed down thru them. Will use 90° slip on fittings to finish the drain.

Thanks to Golfersa for the idea. 5/16" drill bit, very slowly. Cut the hose at an angle, stuffed 3/4" thru and went underneath to pull from the bottom. No elbow needed for MX4.

Same place I went, but the canister for the retractable puts the drain tubes just above the slant, will require elbow over and MAYBE elbow down, we'll see. Easy peasy.

Thanks Golfer, this is why I joined the forum- great ideas like these.

Now if we can somehow keep the gen 2.5 trolls out...

Looks like a few more Retrax's are going on...

    IMG_6681.jpg IMG_6682.jpg

Installed in about 2hrs or less. Do not forget the earlier tips provided ;)! Get a buddy to assist with the 'LIFT into PLACE' :amen:! Find a torque wrench with a low enough load rating :)...I had to guess; mine was more suited for the tire lug torque type of ft-lbs.

Lots of Retrax covers and I am getting closer to decide to get one too. Just not sure if it'll fulfill my needs. I have a topper on my Tacoma right now but would rather go towards a tonneau cover and a rack above it with the Tundra. Anyone using that combination here? I like the way Retrax operates but I don't know if it can handle OVS Freedom Rack

Never heard of that rack, have you asked the folks at Retrax? The XR "Trax Rail System will work with most T-slot accessories from Yakima, Thule, Rhino-Rack, and many more..."

I have but haven't heard anything back yet.
I know Retrax will work with numerous t-slot options it's just a matter how much load it can hold.

Can I ask a silly question? This is not only my first tundra, but my first truck. I'm debating retractable vs. tonneau. Do you feel that you lose much cargo space because of the box?

Mine arrived in ~30 days from undercover’s website. I ordered the undercover armorflex on 4/2 and received it roughly 35 days later.

I don't, no. How much cargo do you plan to put in the bed of your truck? My 2009 had a 3-fold, can probably count on one hand how many times in 13 years that I either removed it, or folded it up against the back window.

I debated 5.5 vs 6.5 ft bed in my mind for a while and ultimately went with the 5.5 because I live in an urban area, and thought the wider turning radius would be a PITA. I figured I already have the shorter bed, do I want to lose space to the box? Then I remembered I'm a CPA and I'm mostly just getting the truck for weekend warrior stuff. I think there will probably be a bed extender in my future.

I would say very little. Usually I have something that is low enough to slip under that canister housing to fill up the box. IMO, this is a sleek, low profile option and I have never been a big fan of the flip ups [but lots of guys love them]. My F150 had the Diamond Back and even though I absolutely loved it, I could not get taller items into the box because of the cross member clamped in the middle to hold the panels. No I can not only load taller items but also hang my MTN BKS over the endgate.

Does anyone have experience using the Retrax Pro XR in the winter? I'm in Manitoba and I'm wondering if there are there any issues with ice freezing in the slats and side rails causing issues with retracting the cover. Thanks.

This is how my drains ended up... there MAY be a slight incline compared to the bottom of the cannister, but it's very close to being straight across. If I silicone the down tube to the 90, I could shove it down another 1/2 inch. I may end up running straight to the front of the corner channel... we'll see.

I don’t have any experience since this is my first one but they are manufactured in North Dakota…pretty sure they designed for extreme weather. I am pretty confident there will be no issues.

Those with a Bakflip MX4 or F1 (or even OEM I believe is the same), can you use the bed camera when folded up against the cab? I just installed the F1 this week and can pretty much just see the top folded edge of the cover right at the camera, maybe the top of the tailgate. Is this normal or have I used the wrong foam pads or have a install error with where I secured the cover.

i am from ND and i've never heard of them personally. i've tended to go with access rollup covers (https://www.accesscover.com/) since the early 2010's. they are based out of jamestown, nd. they started as a agri business cover company (farm equipment covers) and moved into personal trucks later.

if we go the backway to fargo to see the daughter/grandons, we pass by the headquarters building but usually we just take the i-94 from bismarck to fargo.

otherwise we take the country roads to jamestown then continue on i-94 to fargo. crap shoot really since the backroads are slower mph wise compared to doing 75 on i-94, in the end its the same time to distance.

MX4- I can only see the top of the cover when it’s up against the rear of the cab. Hopefully someone with a 3d printer can come up with something to relocate the camera higher. I’ve seen on Etsy a bracket for 2nd gen for the tailgate camera. Something similar that sits atop the center light might do the trick.
