2022 Tonneau covers

Retrax ordered the 23rd, shipped the 29th. I hope it does not get lost like yours @cephasiii. How they lose a box that size is a bit perplexing.

 

I think the people ordering straight from retrax are getting theirs much sooner than those who ordered third party.

 

I had ordered it back in February, but cancelled the order beginning of April.

 

Install took about an hour and a half or so. Looks great and zero leaks from a storm last night.

 

What size board is that?

 

That board costs more than the cover now!

 

Its a 1x8x10 foot board I just cut down to length.

 

For those of you that are planning to install a retrax, two recommendations for you during install. 1, drill your drain holes out first before installing the cover. 2, when sliding the cover into the driver side rail, make sure you unlock and unlatch the locking mechanism.

 

Details starts on page 427 in your Tundra manual.

Nope, but it'll help other on dimensions needed to cut and fit a board in the slots of the bed.

Well, Retrax is in…too bad the truck is in a Stop Sale (Recall). Guess I will look at the box a few days longer before installing…

Ordered an undercover amourflex on 4/2 and it just shipped on 5/3. Their website says 30 days so it’s right on time. Should be here next Tuesday. I’ll put the obligatory pics up.

My RetraxOne XR was delivered in Canada yesterday. Unfortunately I also got a call from my dealer yesterday letting me know my TRD Pro that had an ETA in August is now delayed to November...

I thought about other trucks but ultimately still want the Tundra TRD Pro, so I'll just try to tell myself that it's being delayed to sort out any recalls/issues that I won't have to deal with now.

 

Did you order from Retrax, or a 3rd party vendor?

Should I stay away from the OEM one from the Toyota dealership? They couldn’t give me a lot of details on the one they had as they had to order it for me, but haven’t charged me for anything yet.

 

Supposed to be a Toyota branded BakFlip MX4, which is why it's almost impossible to buy a BakFlip

 

Oem is great in my opinion. Easy install. Does a great job keeping everything dry. I live in Seattle and we get rain 11 months out of the year lol. Hasnt let me down. Also sits flush with the bed. No complaints. It just cant take much weight on top of it in case you're looking to stand on it.

 

Can confirm the same. I also owned an MX4 on my previous truck and can vouch for it. Solid, durable, and didn't leak. Only complaint is that the top could get scratched and underside was susceptible to dents.

 

I think the OEM is essentially a Bakflip rebranded. I was going to go that route and no dealer around me would sell just the cover; they all mandated a $292 install fee!

 

I had order one in March it has been delayed four times already which I get but I have had two e-mails from them asking to review the cover when it hasn't even been shipped. I finally cancelled the order yesterday when I found out they charge my credit card a few weeks ago and it still wasn't schedule to ship for another few weeks.

 

may I know when you dropped your deposit??

 

Their practice of misrepresenting the availability is frustrating. I didn't have an issue with the upfront charge for the order until it became clear they weren't sure when the product would be available.

Also learned today Toyota has a 179 count backorder on the OEM/Bakflip (Atlanta metro), with only 5 in transit. Obviously could be a long wait for the Toyota/Bakflip covers with little supply.

 

Seems like the problem is deflection caused by the a gap between the plastic bedrail cap and the actual bed side. I wedged a plastic puck in there and the cover latches on perfectly now. Truxedo could simply include a wedge that could attach to that bolt seen here and/or one behind the bedrail cap. This wedge got rid of all movement the rail had when pushing down on it to latch. Not shown in this pic but the cover rail is flush on top of the bedside. Janky solution but it worked.
