Curious if this TSB covers well over 100K of us with analog fuel gauges that all have this issue. Combination Meter Assy Logic sounds like the digital dash models. Some of these don’t report having the issue but some do.

Both Digital & Analog are included in the TSB.

This TSB is covered under the basic warranty...so if someone is over 36k miles on their odometer, will this be covered by Toyota?

Ask your dealer. If they won't do it, then call Toyota Brand Engagement. Hopefully you had the issue documented before your 3-yr, 36K was up.

    Thanks for the reply!
I have documentation regarding this issue from the first month of ownership...The dealership blew it off as "normal." It was the start of multiple issues I have encountered with this 23' Limited Off Road....I decided to purchase an extended warranty before I hit the 36k mark. I was just asking for the members that do not have an extended warranty. Hopefully Toyota will take care of their customers.

Glad you got it documented. And far from normal. SOME (read as very little) movement is normal, but not showing a full tank when it's below half is nowhere in the realm of normal.

Mine moves from 1/4 tank to full and won't reset unless I go through the procedure documented on the site. I am assuming that is not considered normal? I did have this looked at last year and was told they could not re-create it.

My ‘23 Lim does it every tank when I hit 3/4. 2 yrs now. I had a new event this week though - parked nose down in the driveway with 1/2 a tank and the next morning it showed less than a 1/4. I didn’t try my usual reset but went and filled it. Only took 16 gal on the 32ga tank. So nose up the gauge climbs, nose down it falls - LOL. Logically makes sense except that $60K+ trucks still have this issue 3 yrs later. Obsurd.

Yup, mine has done both. Driveway is not level. Usually always back in so nose up. Got tired of it resetting to full so started parking nose down for a tank. Had to disconnect battery for something during that tank and watched the gauge on start up go from a 1/4 to almost half to correct itself. At some point it had dropped instead of the normal resetting to full. Guess it makes sense, but annoying either way.

Just had mine flashed today. Every tank since new, fuel level would jump from 3/4 full back to full. Sometimes twice on a single tank. Hopefully this will rectify the issue.

I have an interesting observation. After having the TSB-0038-25 flashed today I decided to fill up. I have the analog fuel gauge with digital estimated driving range shown. Usually when I fill up for the last 3 years my maximum range is 350-365 miles. Today for the first time ever my range is listed as much higher, 448 miles. I have never had this high a range. Seems a big coincidence to have this happen immediately after a flash. IMG_0304.jpg IMG_0467.jpg

The range is dynamic and calculated on your current avg all time mpg. Same dash as you, after the update mine did the same but went down. Its first two years I was in WA averaging 18/23. When I’d fill up the estimated range was 500 or better. Now back in So CA it only shows 425-450. (hills and signals every 1/8th of a mile)

The learning was reset when the combination meter was flashed. It will correct after a few full tanks of gas.

This happened to me on my tank that I just filled up two days ago. I always reset trip A to the tank have 100 miles on it got into the truck today after backing in last night my driveway is a small incline. Noticed the tank estimated range rest and then the gauge is showing full. Heading on a roadtrip this weekend we’ll see how she does.

I just had it back in May at 5k to Toyota I’ll mention this and the tsb when I go for 10k and my third oil change.

I parked head in on my driveway here is the pitch. Doesn’t seem that major but it did trip up the fuel tank.

I have the digital read out and I did the odo reset today at work in our flat parking deck I’m a little under 3/4 tank so let’s see how it holds.

T-SB-0038-025 Successfully fixed this !! Finished my tests this am.
*Hearing some ‘25s may have the issue and this TSB doesn’t pertain to a ‘25.
