07 to 13's aren't too shabby either. My 07 is still going strong with no issues. Less nannies too! I'd have to see some worthwhile major changes if and when a new true 3rd Gen Tunny comes out to even consider it.

I think it's pretty sweet. I almost think the 2020 Tundra will not be a redesign, but will be a great fine tuned example of the last of the 3rd-ish generation. I'm in.

...Each year seems to have some unique quirks. I'm keeping mine but just as curious as anyone else to see what Toyota might have in store. If it's like they did in 07 then it will be a game changer again.

All is well so long as Toyota continues to build higher quality trucks than Ford, thus giving the others something to aim for. I did see a new regular cab 4x4 long bed Titan the other day... it had a Cummings in it.

and that Cummins is a POS, it has major limitations. I'm a cummins guy when it comes to the inlines, but that thing should be shelved.

FCA in general has some major obstacles to overcome in regards to quality, ESPECIALLY on the tech stack side. Companies can't continue to think like auto manufacturers, they are selling tech stacks, and tech stacks require a level of customer support that none of them are willing to embrace yet. Another reason to stick with Toyota.

I don’t see what the big deal is with a bigger payload rating. I don’t allow my mother in law to ride with me anyway.

The 07-13s look better, also. They are also peppier since they don't suffer from the newer throttle management algorithms.

Would be fun as a weekend wheeler but I couldn't picture using it as a load carrying truck. Would be cool for park rangers or something like that.

Damn, that looks like shit, sorry not for me. I like the JL 2Dr rubicon though, that is a hot Jeep.

The only Jeep i'd ever get, i'll take my chances with reliability

    No, the throttle management sucks.

But, the color definitely plays a factor as well. :turtleride:

I'm not asking for a complete redesign I love the way every single year tundra has looked
I agree with everything you said the reliability is the main reason I picked my tundra over a f150 or Chevy and when I say redesign I don't mean throw the motor and tranny out and a new body etc I'm just saying or example Toyota has had led/hid technology for years why wait till 2018/2019 to give people some decent headlights on a 50-60k truck

Exactly my wife has a Lexus and that thing seriously gives me headaches with all the technology it has I cant comprehend how hard it would be for them to take some exterior/interior que's from Lexus and implement them in our trucks

The Jeep 4 door truck will sell well and become the next JK type mall crawler. As an off road vehicle, it's wheel base is too long and it will still have Chrysler's poor build quality. It's in no way competition for a Tundra. Before I bought my Tundra, I owned what is considered the most capable off road Jeep produced. A 04 TJR with an automatic. If Toyota wants to compete with the new Jeep it needs to introduce a new FJ truck. I owned a 2012 double cab long bed Tacoma that I sold in a year. What a POS soccer mom rig that wasn't worthy of being called a Toyota.

Has anybody ever put them next to each other in the quarter mile? It’s only in the mapping. Same horsepower same transmission etc. I know when I turn off the traction control and put it in beast mode, jams the fuck out LOL also with my bully dog tuner I can have the throttle feel like tow haul is on.

No clue. The beast mode trick works on the gen 2’s also though.

I just know it drove me nuts when I switched.

I think the new kid on the block that every truck manufacturer needs to look out for is the Rivian R1T (https://products.rivian.com/). If this company delivers on everything they're boasting, the R1T will be a game changer.

So when you hit tow haul it changes more than just the shift points on the second gen? Does it also bump the throttle response up even more?
