I got ya. I’ve shaked my tailgate when closed and there’s no play in it. It’s a weird rattle. I’m 6’5 255 and when parked I can get this truck shaking and bouncing and there is no noise. There is only a rattling noise going over wash board roads. No way to recreate noise without driving over wash board road

if you can't replicate the noise by jumping around, it may only happen when the truck's suspension is unloaded.. Try jacking it up and checking the suspension.

I installed a Pop n Lock tailgate lock on my ‘16 and can definitely hear it rattling around with the rear window down. The newer trucks come with a factory OEM locking mechanism which might do the same thing? :notsure:

Dealer called and said they’ve driven it 3 times but don’t hear anything. I told them I’ll come over and take the tech for a ride. Took him for a ride and we didn’t hear anything. Asked him what they checked out, and he said tailgate, body mounts, and bed bolts. Said they didn’t find anything. I feel like they did something because it sounds pretty much normal now.

Wish I had more info to give but I don’t. Asked tech on the ride around and he said they just made sure everything underneath was tight and checked out tailgate. That’s really all I got.

Are your backseat seat belts tucked into the plastic clips on the pillars? Mine rattle with the windows down if they are not.

Hitches can rattle too if left in. Mine clunks around over some bumps in the road.
