Looks great man! Details on the Retro Toyota stripe emblem. I've seen a few that have this. Is it just glued on?

Has anyone though of finding a piece of plastic that is similar to the gap and plastic welding the inside to attach it ? This looks great i may look into doing this. Love that look with the sequoia headlights.

all the info is actually in this thread. not trying to be a jerk but maybe go through this thread to understand what's needed then ask clarifying questions. i was able to get it done by educating myself from the data here. it's a great mod, good luck.

I see a couple pics in the first couple pages of this thread.

I currently have a plan in the works. I found a used damaged sequoia bumper. Cut it in half long ways to create the upper piece of the tundra bumper

Finally found time to do the swap on my 2008, but messed up on the top bulge piece. Tried removing it but it feels like I’m just going to break either the female and/or male plastic piece of the clips or worst case he mounting portion to the bulge. Any suggestions or help? TIA

I had the same issue, there's some female retainer tabs in the grille surround that the male corresponding pieces on the bulge need to seat into in order to get rid of that waviness. I was so irritated thinking it was just the particular one I received, then I took it back off and very slowly got everything lined up before fully pressing the bulge into the retainers. Wish I had a pic for you, but if you look under the bulge as you're positioning it into place, you'll see the pieces i'm talking about.

As far as removing it, I started my way from one side at the headlight and pried outwards working my way towards the middle.

Good luck and take your time!

I know which female tabs your talking about; I think I messed up during the installation process as I installed the tabs between the grille and the bulge first then pressed in the top tabs. So the low spots on the waves are the location of the tabs. Will definitely need luck on this one; I’ll provide an update once I try to fix it.

update: I just tried it and only broke two female tabs (the corners) went in with less force this time but maybe I left it on incorrectly for a little too long as the waves were noticeable when it was removed. Hopefully after a couple of sunny days it’ll flatten out. The trick to remove it is grow a pair and just pull lol.

I assembled mine into 1 piece, then installed the grille onto the pickup.

Armed with inspiration and answers to my dumb questions from Jbtaco2002 and some others on this thread, I finally made the leap and did the TRD grille / Alpharex headlight conversion as well. I think it makes a world of difference - thank you all for your help!

sorry to hear. i don't have the answer but i went through similar issues with that bulge. i tried to install it to the grill then install the grill but that didnt work out. i struggled with it for 30min then somehow, frustrated as heck and about to break it, it clicked in. i don't ever want to have to go back in there. smh.

Does that top piece look wavy to anyone else? Is it like this for all those who converted?
