Dealers are offering to buy newer low mileage Tundras here for more than people paid a year or two ago. Also carvana/vroom/carmax type places are paying high too. Now it would be in bad faith to trade in a vehicle with a known issue but you could at least use their offers to work on Toyota Corporate's offer if need be.

Tundra prices are very good here as well. Canada doesn't have Carvana or Vroom so that's out. I'm not worried about trading if back to the dealer. It's in their service bays so they know exactly what's its issues are. If they resale it that's up to them if they disclose any issues with the next owner.

They have now changed the transmission, torque converter and flex plate. Still no change. This is getting really old. I've been without my truck for over a month.

I had a Hyster forklift with starter issues. Sometimes after you turned it off, the starter would not engage properly when you tried to start it. We tried everything to fix it, we even put on a new flex plate. It turned out that the end of the crank where the flex plate mounts was not concentric to the crank journals so the flex plate would run eccentric and play russian roulette with the starter.

Sometimes you just get somebody's bad day and you have to cut your losses.

    yeah...something is way off.

Front diff mounting location, transmission location, rear diff mounting location, a combo of these in a tolerance stack is causing the issue. That is my gut instinct reaction.

The dealership has now pretty much gave up on the truck. They told me you might as well come pick it up, we can't seem to solve the issue. I had told sales that I would selling it back to them, buy a cheaper truck they have on the lot and trade it back to them when the 2022 Tundra comes in which I would put a deposit on. For some reason they won't give me a trade in value on the 2020. I'm done, told them I'll be picking up the truck on Saturday and sell it privately and I will disclose the issue as far as the vibration. In all honesty it is only a very slight vibration and most wouldn't even notice or care. For me personally it's there and just bugs the sh!t out of me. The service manager even said if I had a more aggressive tires on the truck the noise wouldn't even be heard, which I agree. I'm running a very smooth and quiet Continental tires.

Sorry to hear they couldn't figure it out. I would try another Dealership before just throwing in the towel. As we know, some shops are more competent than others.

    Didn't you retire from Toyota?

This whole thread has had my head shaking. Not sure where I would put my money next….

Oddly enough the first owner of my T100 took it into the dealer multiple times for a mystery vibration. Looking at the invoices that came with it I don’t think it was ever solved by the time he sold to the 2nd owner with 70k on it. So NVH issues aren’t new for Toyota I guess.

Yes sir. You would think that may have helped, it didn't. One thing, Toyota Canada customer service is next to useless. I thought I might be able to get assistance from them. Nothing.

    Wow. Just wow.

That would factor into where I would invest my hard earned money. Customer service is a big check mark for this guy when making the decision on a vehicle.

I didn't realize that when you call customer service it's just a call center and the people working there have nothing to do with Toyota. They just relay the message to a "manager" who I'm guessing works for Toyota? I had to phone three times to get a call back from a manager and that took over a week.

I can't make the sh!t up. I picked up the truck today, sales is open and service is closed. I get the keys from the receptionist and out to the truck. Start it up, the radio isn't working! Then noticed my power mirror and my USB charge ports under the heater control are not working. This really sucks because I have an appointment with another Toyota dealer that wants to buy the truck. I decide I might as well go. Good new is that the other dealers still wants the truck. They are going to pay me 45K for it. I only paid 43K but I'm still losing because of the accessories. I'm dropping it off to them on Tuesday.

Prices are good so maybe consider selling it. I got almost all my money back. I sold it for more than I paid but I lost after paying the taxes

Exactly! I bought a Nissan Frontier because I no longer needed a full size but if I needed a full size I would have gone with a Titan. MPG is about the same as your Tundra but not as good as the new Tundra.

I tried that. My warranty was ending and I asked them to extend my powertrain warranty. That was a big no. I told them if they didn't have confidence in the reliability of the truck how can I. The decision was made to sell

Now March 2022 27K miles same problem, dealer has ordered another front diff. None in stock due to supply chain issues so waiting game . Save yourself a whole lot of headache and just buy the replacement aftermarket bearing and have it installed. Your CV axle is likely shot as well. The failed bearing on the driver's side is what is causing the issue. The aftermarket replacement is a bushing and not a needle bearing. Work with your dealer and see if they are willing to install it for you. It's a fairly simple job. Remove the driver's side axle, remove the old seal and defective bearing and drive in the new bearing with seal and reinstall a new CV axle.

I bought a 2020 Tundra in July 2020. Right from driving off the lot it began to whine in the rear end. I had an 03 prior and it did not sound like this. I mentioned it and was told it was normal. 24K miles later it is in the shop and waiting for a new differential carrier assembly. The noise continued to get worse over time. I put 200K miles on my 2003 Tundra and had ZERO issues. I was retiring and wanted a new truck to travel so traded in reliable and now have some regrets. The part is 6 weeks out I was told and am waiting.

Makes me glad that I dumped my Tundra. I would have kept it and worked with Toyota for a fix but Toyota would not extend my powertrain warranty even though the problem was current. I only had about 8,000 miles left and would be left holding the bill.

According to ECGS 500k miles, but I can't vouch for that from experience.

I had ECGS replace my 4Runners bearing with the bushing when it started having symptoms. It was still under warranty and I decided, why keep putting lipstick on a pig? So paid to put the bushing in. Smooth as glass after that and when the Tundra starts with symptoms I will do the same for it. Good people over there at ECGS
