Didn’t draw MT elk, we applied as a group. We may try for CO OTC but new to CO so finding a spot is difficult. As long as we can be back on the east coast for the whitetail rut. Our fall back is ID OTC.

I usually just grab an OTC Elk tag. Not much of a deer hunter elk tastes so much better and they are a little easier to get at where I go hunting. This year I put in for Moose, Sheep and Goat. Also this year I started having wolves get on the property so may be filling a neusense animal tag. They are big, nasty, and have almost destroyed our moose and elk herds up here.

Thats why I’m opposed to forced wolf reintroduction here in CO. Our elk herd is supposedly the biggest in the country, don’t want it destroyed by some misguided environmentalist’s view on what’s “natural.”

Man, do whatever you can to stop it, meeting townhalls whatever you can. They multiply like gophers and destroy all animals. When they first were reintroduced in MT they just went on killing sprees to figure where they were on the food chain. Couple of my co workers lost horses, chicken, and dogs. We have all but lost our Moose around here. Elk herds have been thinned out and scattered all to hell up north. All but destroyed our big horns as well. It was definitely a misguided "my feelings" approach to a non issue. Ranchers hate it just as much as hunters.

Yeah I hope there’s enough money and voting numbers to prevent it. I’d like to believe there are enough ranchers in the mountains that’d follow the SS&SU model if it does, but I think it’d be more realistic to get wolves de-listed than expect massive civil disobedience if it passes. And getting em de-listed would be a massive fight with the environmental lobby.

Northeast, in mule deer and pronghorn country. But the mountains are only an hour away for other species.

Welp, put in for buck, anterless, quality buck, second deer, anterless elk, bull elk, and quality bull elk for Washington. Got drawn for second deer. Hopefully if all goes well I can put 2 in the freezer this year.

This definitely interesting to me. Here in Texas, you buy your hunting license and get tags. Antler restrictions based on county hunting in for mules and white tail. We dont have elk or moose here, on public land. Everything else is considered an exotic or landowner permit and no tag required as long as valid hunting license. The only thing requiring special permit is Pronghorn, and those you would get from a landowner, not from state, but only if they applied for the permits. Although Texas has started new experimental program.

CA deer tags for the draw came out today. Got nothing. Already have my archery-only (AO) buck tag. Gonna put in for an OTC rifle tag, either D14 or D11. Probably going to get a 4th season elk left-over tag for Colorado. I know, it's post rut. But hoping there's left over cow tags. Just want the meat. Then maybe an OTC AO tag for Arizona in January.
