For all our big game hunters on here, what have you put in the draw for and what states? Just got done applying for pronghorn, deer and elk licenses; and for preference points on moose, mountain goat, Rocky Mountain big horn sheep, and black beer here in the great hunting state of CO.

Put in for archery bull elk and archery antelope so far in Az with no luck. I’m hoping to have a little more luck in the upcoming deer draw

Washington multiseason deer tag. Still early for other draws, wait and see if drawn for multiseaon or if I have to decide my hunting method first. Was looking up Montana hunting regs, considering applying for mule deer and antelope.

    Nothing but good stuff.
Applied for mulies in Nevada and didn’t draw.....didn’t draw elk in Wyoming, looks like it’ll be over the counter mulies in Idaho.

My priority up here has been used up on drawn tags in recent years, so it’ll just be General Tags & and building priority this year.

Spring bear is open now, just need all this snow to melt!!

Since I've only been at it for a few years, gonna stick to CA deer tag. rifle and AO, then planning an AZ OTC archery next January, probably first week I'll head out there, assuming I don't fill both CA tags (which would be a miracle)

Didnt get drawn for Washington multiseason deer tag. Need to debate going archery or muzzleloader this year and get my specialty tags put in for now. Waiting for the pamphlet to come out. I do better with the magazine as opposed to the download version so I can mark in it.

    also

I didn’t get drawn for speed goat in AZ this year but bagged a turkey today.!!!

I’m in San Diego. Our season has sucked. The weather is all jacked up and the birds aren’t really in breeding season yet even though it started the end of last month . Had two toms look and my decoys and walk away. They don’t even care about your calls. Luckily I got into a fight with a boss hen and another Tom followed her in.

Where did you get your turkey? We're on lockdown and turkey would be far for me (few hour drive with few camp options). I'll probably put in for D9 and X9a (also). X9 is a once in a lifetime tag, but you never know. My second tag will be an AO tag. I can use that in any D zone for archery season and during general, if I can fill the rifle tag.

Where are you located? on the off chance we BOTH were to pull a X9a tag, would love to meet up. It's rugged up there and it would beat hunting solo. I may have one friend who will join me which means extra eyes and an extra pack if we harvest

I live down in San Diego. Got my turkey down here. X9A you can definitely hunt multiple times in your life. Only takes a few presence points. I got a 3x2 out of there two years ago so we’ll see how this year goes..

damn, that's pretty lucky to get that tag. only 270/year. I'm probably going to submit my application this weekend and then like the rest of Cali, do the waiting game.

Hey Stephen, you submit your app for tags yet? I have a Marine buddy who lives in SD and will likely put in for D16 and A31 (or 32?), down there. He'll be doing archery and general. I'm debating between a couple zones, so I'm gonna do a quick scouting trip and some more research. Probably submit my application in a couple weeks.

Have heard good things about NM elk hunting, my soon to be brother in law went down a few years ago for one. What part of the state you put in for? And how hard is it to draw oryx down there?

We get to put in 3 choices for the draw and I usually throw my 1st choice on the highest demand/most popular units. Then I put in my 2nd and 3rd choice on the less popular/harder to hunt units. I've drawn an elk tag of some sort 5 out of the last 7 years.

Oryx on the missile range is once in a lifetime draw. Oryx off range is a statewide hunt, but they only really inhabit the south central part of the state. Both are stupid hard to draw. I've been putting in for 7 years and nothing yet.

That stinks! Non-resident draw or you live here in NM?

Live here I had been lucky last few years. I have a new born coming in Aug so I put in for close hunts so I could go for the day. So Jemez and back side of Sandias. Always next year. My brother in law drew 51 for Elk so might try to roll with him.

Congrats! I got one coming in October so I only put in for the early hunts too. I live down South so there is no elk country close by, only Oryx and Javelina lol

Definitely spent some time in the Gila, I'll be in the Eastern edge this year in 21a. I'm a fan of all big game meat l, but Oryx is top 2 for sure.

Correct. Oryx were brought to White Sands Missile Range in the early 70s as a project to introduce exotic game to NM. They started with 96 and now have lost count because of how well they survived and migrated across the region off base.
