2020 and 2021 DSR1 Issues PLEASE READ AND POST IF YOU HAVE ISSUES

James any progress on this issue?

 

Bump, still curious if this is being worked or any have luck with current firmware.

 

I have the same question also. I check maestro idatalink web page periodically to see if there was an update, and so far nothing.

 

Well I heard back from Maestro Technical Support when I asked is there any update to the latest firmware and they said "I don't think we've had any other reports of issues with the newest firmware, so there aren't any updates to report. Are you having issues? If so, could you post a video of them so I can show the engineers?" So looks like nothing is being work on. So I guess its time to dump the OG head unit. I gotta say for Rockford Fosgate to release something that's not compatible. Or for the software company who provides the software for RF and have no way of testing is pretty lame.

 

I have to agree, if all the software engineers have to work off of is the software specs from each other (Maestro/Toyota) without real world testing, then its just guess work at best. I've always hoped IT could evolve from 90's style IT of market UAT (user acceptance testing), but looks like we still haven't grown up. For now, I'll stick with the previous firmware as it only occasionally requires a HU reboot and not worry about the apple/google apps that only half work and use them unconnected.

 

Glad i havent updated to 1.9 yet... still waiting for all the kinks to get sorted!

 

Anyone notice v2.1 is out?

 

Thanks, see it came out a week after 2.0, but looking for the release notes to see what it addresses.

 

I looked at there Firmware on there newly designed web site. And I didn't see any new release dates on there site.

 

2.0 was released 2/19/2021, 2.1 was released 2/25/2021.

 

I hooked up my DSR1 the other day and 2.1 never came up in the update. It just showed 2.0

 

Seems strange no release notes available....

 

My system upgrade shipped today (everything but the JBl head unit is being replaced). Curious if any updates on these issues? Wondering if I’ll have the same problems. 2021 1794 using AppleCarPlay

 

I haven’t had this issue with my 2020 using the DSR and Apple products. I would have to check which software update I’m on

 

Anyone have an issue connecting their dsr1 to a laptop to update via the weblink app? It wouldnt connect no matter what I tried...very strange. It looks like the other apps (weblink mobile and weblink maestro) dont support the dsr1 from what I can tell. Was hoping to give 2.0 a shot..

 

Got mine updated to 2.0 finally.

Also swapped my t03 harness for another hoping it might address the issue I was having with the front left side going mute randomly.

Just needed to disconnect all the plugs from the harness first. No issues in my 10 kinutes of playing around with eq settings (again) after the update...maybe its me, but it seems a little brighter post update.

Will get more time on the system this weekend, so crossing fingers all issues are sorted.

 

Hope it works out for you. I gave up and purchased a new HU (Kenwood DDX9707XR). If you check out page one towards the bottom my experience with the updates. I ended up rolling back 2 updates prior to the new Head Unit.

 

Had stereo running for about an hour today, no issues so far. 2.0 seems to be good, although the eq seems to be bright for reason..easy fix, but just an observation.

 

just wrapped up my install today. I had the same thoughts. Super bright, and very heavy on the front speakers. Adjusted the amp gain and crossover frequencies a bit from the recommended settings and got it dialed in pretty quickly. Overall super impressed. No glitches experienced yet.

 

Have you guys used Android Auto or Apple Car play? If so does the volume come back when it dims out?

 

Apple CarPlay. Yes it comes back. It takes a few seconds. And not all speakers come back at the same time. Seems like the rear speakers come back a second or two before the front.

 

So the issue with no voice while using Waze & Google Maps is corrected with sw 2.0?

 

I didnt try it with Waze, just other incoming alerts that came through during my drive this morning. Sorry for the confusion. I’ll check it out and report back later today after i get back from the lake.

 

Just made a 70+ mile drive with Waze alerts on. No issues. Volume came back every time after an alert. Not always all speakers at the same time which can be a little quirky sounding, but within a couple seconds everything is back at full volume.

Woke up one morning and no Sound. Checked Connections everything looked fine. Green light on DSR1 and power to the amp. Shipped DSR1 to you and checked software. I reinstalled it and same thing no sound. Everything on the JBL Headunit works. Disconnected battery reset. No sound. No beeps nothing... Not sure what to try now except a new headunit for $800-1500.

After install of everything last year I could not use bluetooth talking on my phone but music worked perfect.

 

The issue with the 2020+ that have Apple Carplay is that the voice guidance from Waze and Google Maps would not come through with the DSR1, the music with dip but no voice.

Sorry if I misunderstood what you explained but I just want to make sure the issue is resolved before I drop the $ for the DSR1.

 

I dont use waze or google maps, but will have to give it a shot. Normally i just play mp3s via bluetooth using winamp.

 

No, you’re fine. I should've been more clear. A few beers on the lake yesterday... From my experience so far (since Friday 4/30) it all has worked exactly as I would expect. Turn by turn directions on Waze come through clearly while the music volume dips and returns a few seconds later. I’m running DSR1, JBL Stadium 5 amp, factory head unit. I replaced all of the door speakers and the factory subs. Factory dash speakers still installed and hooked up to the JBL Stadium.

Thanks that is exactly what I was looking for. Completely understandable when there is a lake (fish stories) and beer involved! Now I have to contact James and get the Amp & DSR1, I have already replaced my door speakers & Subs.

 

Anyone have issues with non-JBL system? I'm looking to upgrade to a full kit but have no experience whatsover with car audio. I just don't want to deal with any issues - and would be more adept to waiting it out if some kinks need some ironing.
