Actually, C&D says the recall is for the trucks with the LED headlights. Checked mine for a recall and Toyota website says mine has no recalls...
Recall only applies to trucks built within a certain month range.

My 2020 has had zero issues so far. Got it pre-covid (delivered beg of Dec 2019).

    Re: consumer reports:
Yep, that’s correct. There’s a difference between reviews and ratings. Ratings are based completely off of statistics. Also, as far as I know, it’s the only source that doesn’t accept a single sponsor or advertising dollar.
It is weird though, how they consistently say negative things about the tundra in complete disregard of their own high ratings for the truck! Never understood that

Totally agree, doesn't really make any sense.

Another thing I've noticed is the ratings for a particular model year can change as subsequent years go by. This indicates that they continue to update feedback on the vehicles as years pass.

To get rave reviews from the media a manufacturer needs to continually update their truck lineup. Since 2007 the big 3 have had at least 3 distinct generations where as Toyota has had one. This is a good recipe for profits as the 2nd gen Tundra development has been long paid for. Reliability is good like a typical Toyota so while reviewers rag on Toyota for producing an “old” truck they have no issue selling every Tundra they make.

Look at the 2019 5th Gen Ram. Beautiful trucks but having owned one they are loaded with gremlins that will leave these trucks as expensive as a German luxury vehicle to repair in a few years.

    I agree 100%!

I realize Toyota was slow to the pump for introducing tech to the Tundra but I cannot understand why it is still being called "outdated". My 2020 has everything I can think of:

    Smart Key
    Navi
    CarPlay
    Clearance Sonar
    RCTA
    BSM
    LCA
    Pre Collision
    Radar Cruise
    LED Headlamps
    LED Fog Lamps
    Integrated Brake Controller
I am sure I am missing some

The only exception being the window controls. Not having auto up/down for all windows is just stupid for a vehicle in this price range and it's not like they would have to invent it. Other than that what else is missing aside from maybe a few gimicky options that would make it not outdated?

    Two different recalls

the one for led lights was regarding how the turn signal lamp was wired.

Well, considering I bought my 2020 in November of 2019 - I have a hard time believing this.

Seriously. I highly doubt Toyota would let a bad truck leave that factory. Ford maybe..

Did they? I can see a space above my screen where I'm sure a cd player could go.

Yup. From 7" up to 8".

Mine was built in August 2019, bought in March 2020. I was able to take advantage of how long it's been on the dealer lot amongst the other car buying tricks I had up my sleeve. Took delivery right before shut down. Easily the best truck I've owned.

Last time I found a truck like that, the whole right side had been damaged and replaced.

I'll take a "bad" 2020 Tundra with an "overheating" transmission and fuel pump recall over any of the big three or nissan.

I have mentioned a 2017 4Runner that had bubbling paint and rust issues early on. That truck sat at the dealership for a while but there was no damage. Point here it’s like a bad omen for it to sit too long on a lot (Toyota). And my friend at the dealership has told my family and I not to buy certain vehicles on the lot even though they were fully warranted. It makes one wonder…

I was sitting in a tire place a few years ago and they always have car magazines I had never heard of. Probably professional periodicals. I was reading an article about "the truth" about Car Magazine reviews. And it included, in detail, how J.D. Power does auto reviews and awards. I have not read or watched a single car magazine or ezine or "professional" video review since that day.

That's nice. Not the case for my truck. Why does this forum have a thing where anecdotal situations are supposed to be the rule for everyone? lol

I had the light cable recall last year. No big. I love the truck and didn't even think about domestics. The big Ram recall on the front end was a turn off. There was a guy who had no climate control because Ford didn't have to make parts after warranty for his year. Toyota is worry free reliable according word of mouth.
