That's scary, buying a rebuilt from a guy that is an "especialist" and can't spell "heavy". There are all kinds of rebuilt transmission and how they are rebuilt. Some of cheaper trans rebuilders will only replace what they see is the issue and leave the rest.

You better ride that tranny hard now (no pun), cause if it craps out on you after warranty, you might be needing that "especialist" tranny guy.

Now I'm even more paranoid about them removing muh transcooler. Yup adding back the transcooler is going to be my first performance mod.

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
They won't do factory new at 19K but at least they did Remanufactured.

Generally, "remanufactured" indicates that a unit has had additional machine work that bring the quality level to the same standard as a new part.

While a "rebuilt" transmission usually implies that only worn-out parts have been replaced, the process to remanufacture a transmission is typically much more thorough...

    My 2 cents.
If the trans is being replaced by a Toyota dealer, under Toyota warranty you will get a "new / re-manufactured" trans from Toyota corporate which is a GREAT trans. Not a rebuilt trans from some local shop.

Factory REMAN is quite different than local shop rebuild. Just watch the engine assembly videos, showing how they torque the engines main cap bolts with a multi socket tool that torques them ALL at the same time! Not the 1 bolt, 2 bolt, 3 bolt, etc. torque sequence that local shops have to follow.

I would tell the Service Manager that you want the trans pan pulled so you can look at the fluid in the pan. If you see anything that looks like metal or "metallic paint shimmer" in the pan, demand a new torque converter. Because any metal in the TC cannot be flushed out and the TC is trash.

Don't let them give you that "We don't allow customers in the shop" BS, I had my 2018 Corvette Z06 transmission valve body replaced under warranty at a Chevy shop here in CO and watched them do the WHOLE job. There was no way I was letting my $100K car out of my sight!

BTW: is Bruce Jenner a re-manufactured trans?

My bad, you said REMAN. I agree, under warranty you get a factory reman trans.

Trans went out on my 2010 within warranty. I got a remanufactured one. It went out 30k later.

Did they replace it the second time? And with what, remanufactured again? And has it held up?

First time was just under 60k so it was under power train warranty. I traded it in around 94k. I could tell it was going out and got a few check engine codes right before I traded it in. Had Toyota look at it and they said it was fine so I traded it.

A few days ago I got an email that my car fax report was ready. I guess the new owner got it serviced and my email was still in the system for the vin. I looked at the car fax and about 8 months after he bought it, it said replaced transmission.

I guess my original post should have said it was going out 30k later. It now has 116k according to car fax, so between 94k and 116k it had to be replaced again.

The remanufactured one they gave me had a lot of issues though. Always shifted weird and would get up to 250F on hills sometimes not pulling anything.

We had a similar issue with a Tacoma at the dealership. Customer was having shifting issues. TASC said to replace the transmission but not the torque converter. Tacoma came back a month later and this time TASC said replace the transmission again with the TC. We did the work and the customer traded it in. It was sold at the dealership as used to a new customer and it came back after another month with transmission issues. TASC told us to replace the transmission, TC and ECM. Never came back, yet.
