So for those of us with edge caps that have no markings, are the stake pockets the 5 bumps just under the lip of the bed? I don’t have the rail system, on mine there’s what appear to be shallow stake pockets with a screw hole in them.

Look inside the bed and find the hole where you would expect a stale pocket to be. Use a straight edge to find the center and mark that on the plastic bed cap cover. Use a drill bit to put a hole in the cap cover and cut the rest out with a Dremil or utility knife.

Toyota probably doesn't want the average owner (non forum member DIYer) to be able to find them.

That way they can charge you $600 for cutting them out

I have a 2016 limited that had them originally. I recently bought new ones from Roman at cool springs cause I had a run in with a snow bank last winter and the replacement did not have the cut-outs. Maybe Roman can chime in...………………...

My 19 has the cutouts marked. I don't need them at this point so I'm leaving them alone.

Anyone have measurements for a 2020 crewmax as those don’t have the cutouts marked on the top.
I guess I can pop the rail cap out and cut from the bottom but I’d rather just find the stake pocket and use a trim router. Bull Rings are in the mail, Hoping to install 4 this weekend.

    Too many, but not enough....
my 2021 SR5 has the cutouts on the plastic. Maybe it matters which trim level/package it is for people who dont have the cutouts.....

Use a router with follower bearing, or a zip tool for cutting outlets holes on sheet rock

I need to cut the holes for a ladder rack to be installed.

Here's what I did I used a plastic pry tool to pop them off.

Then used a new blade on utility knife to slowly cut out the holes.

Any rough or sharp edges were de-burred with dremel with sanding attachment.

Reinstall is easy, re-align and give them a whack back down.

Easy peasy, Don't over think it. Remove it and you'll see what see I'm talking about.

Once located i drilled a pilot hole in the plastic just to mark it, then finished the cut out with a drywall zip tool bit and traced the pocket opening. I did put a little tape on the tip of the bit to minimize scratching the pocket too much. Worked pretty well.
