I'm also a big believer in the reliability and durability reputation of the Toyotas. I really liked the look of the current F-150 and my previous experience with Ford has been good. I still drive my 93 Bronco with over 200K miles on it but based on the number of complaints that I have read online I don't think that the new(er) Fords will last that long. All of the big three seemed to have a lot of customer complaints about the engine, transmission and drivetrain.

I like the appearance of my Tundra and it's really grown on me in the couple of months that I've had it. Now I think that I like it better than most of the other 2018 trucks and I definitely like it better than the new 2019 models that I've seen. I don't like the appearance of the new 2019 Chevy or the Ram.

Nothing wrong with that. I just don't need/use that stuff. I could've bought a 1794 or platinum. But when I really looked at the price difference between those and my SR5, it just made since to buy the truck I bought. I didn't want to pay for a bunch of stuff I didn't need or want.

Absolutely agree. There's no sense in paying for stuff you don't want or need! I'm glad an SR5 fit the bill for you. It almost did for me, but there were just a couple things I couldn't get on it that I could with a Limited that pushed me over.

Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
I expected reliability and resale to top the list for reasons why the Tundra is not slipping behind. While I agree, the Tundra is certainly more reliable, I have to say that the resale disparity is shrinking, at least in my area. As far as MPG, goes, CAFE standards continue to get more and more strict, unfortunately, even if you could afford the gas (since you bought a $35k+ truck), it will not matter. The Tundra is going to have to Improve their gas mileage or decrease the volume to meet the emissions requirements. It would not be too difficult for Toyota to do, it is just a matter of market share for them.

I'm not a Dodge fan, don't hate 'em either, but that interior looks really good.

My dad has an old 78 GMC pickup....i love it. My chevy i owned was a 2005 and my ford was a 2007. When i traded in my ford for my Tundy i have 130k on it but i didn't even think it would make it to the dealer for trade in! It sucked. I hated it. My chevy was a base model....though i liked the manual and the dual heating/cooling zones....it still want worth what i paid. When i traded that in (it was almost 3yo and totally paid off) they only gave me $8k for ito_O they wouldn't give me any more. Miles were around 50k. When i bought it it had 30 miles and it was around $20k something out the door (tax, title, license) for a single cab, short bed base model....not barely 3yo and they only gave me $8k for it....that speaks volumes to me

The red dodge looks really nice. I’ll test drive one at some point.

So true. The theme for the Detroit Auto Show is "The Year Of The Truck". But then again the Lincoln Navigator won "truck" of the year honors......... :puke:

Have you ever driven one? The volume knob for a shifter has got to be one of the dumbest things I've ever experienced.

My father in law bought a new Ram Promaster work van with the ecodiesel they put in the 1500s. That damn thing has left him on the side of the road 6 times in 40k miles. The dash lights up like a Christmas tree at least once a month.

I've owned a 2011 GMC Sierra and a 2013 Ford F150. My girlfriend owned a 2009 Ram 1500. I've driven every truck on the market from the Ford Ranger up to 5500 series work trucks throughout the course of my work.

The only domestic brand I would ever buy again, considering reliability/comfort/power/fuel economy, would be GM. Ford can suck on a fart then go fuck a goat...in fact I would be happy if every Ford vehicle were taken off the road permanently and the company was dissolved with the condition they never build so much as a child's wagon in the future while every single one of their dealership salesmen, techs, owners and the company head honchos get thrown into the deepest, darkest, most rat infested inhumane prison on the planet. Slavery in the spice mines of Kessel* is too good for them. Words cannot express the deep rooted hatred I have for Ford. 1 truck and 3 dealerships made sure of that.

I've come full circle from my first vehicle, a 94 Toyota pickup, to my current 2005 Tundra. I'll be sticking with Toyota from here on out. Reliable trucks, treated like gold at every dealership I've been to and the techs are top notch.

    *gratuitous nerd reference.

Please.......I want it to be known that I am a staunch supporter of our great and amazing country, I am from the great and wonderful state of Michigan (Go Blue)! I love this country with all my heart and soul, I have served and continue to serve this great land of ours. My son is currently serving for everyone's freedom, but I am ashamed and embarrassed at the quality and reliability of the products from our American auto makers. Cheap and gimmicky garbage!!! The shit breaks when you look at it and they're always trying to pull some bull on you at every turn. That is why I have been a die hard believer in Toyota and Honda for tens of years. The makers and creators of these vehicles would rather fall on a sword than produce a piece of crap. Money doesn't drive their thinking....a quality product does!!! I will not apologize for purchasing Japanese backed products when they are far superior to their American counter parts. My wish is that they would start producing a larger truck with a diesel engine to put the heat on the American market! That's all I have to say about that...........Good Day.

You made a good point about the BS many dealers and manufacturers give when there's ever a problem. I think people might give American mfgs a chance if they didn't hear horror stories of dealers telling customers that their transmission clunking while it's shifting is "normal".

But lets not forget that they do sell a LOT more trucks than Toyota. What is it like 10 to 1 or something? They are of course going to have more problems you hear about because there are so many more of them out there.

Agreed. As far as the dealer thing, I think that's more of where you live and whos your dealer. When I had my '14 Silverado the gm dealer I went to was awesome. They never second guessed a warranty claim, no bs, no trying to fight me and also gave me another TRUCK and sent me on my way while the work was being completed. My Toyota dealer on the the other hand her is crap, always argue warranty work and its very very frustrating and when something has to be done I have to either find a ride, rent a car from there lot or I get put into a car if I fuss enough. Now that experience was with my Tacoma, I have taken the Tundra in once under warranty for the Trailer brake TSB and had no issues. So maybe your just treated better with a fullsize..who knows.

Couldn't agree more. This is my biggest and probably only complaint (next to not having fully auto windows on a 50k truck).
City I see 11-12 and all freeway I've gotten as high as 18.

I couldn't imagine it would be that hard to add an 8 speed or engine off/on at stops.

It's because they sell theirs cheaper. Go count how many Toyota's you see on any used car lot or in the Auto Trader!

Not only that but there are so many guys out there that will never ever even consider toyota for a truck. That and wait and see how much more shit talking if and when toyota starts building some tundras in mexico.
