Have there been any night pictures of the beam pattern outside posted anywhere?

OP - thank you for all your work putting this together.

Yes, in the other 2018 led headlight thread posted by Roman. A member posted few pics comparing stock vs these. Output is way better.

I am away for one weekend and you change the game on me. Nice job. I am still awaiting on my parts as I assume I will be for a little while.

I checked with The Retrofit Source about the usage of the Bi-Xenon relay harness to control our 2018 LED headlights. There should be no problem running the low beams off the “ballast” plugs but they were concerned about the amperage for the hi beams. I bench tested them and the high beams draw slightly more than one amp of power. The Motocontrol harness wiring for the hi beams are 20-gauge wiring, so while it works it’s not ideal. I’m going to try installing a relay and use the signal from the “high beam” plug to control the relay with a thicker gauge wire just to be safe. I’ll update the parts list again once I test it out. Here’s how the newest version of the PnP harness looks. The gray plugs with plug into the Moto relay harness and the black plug will mate with the factory 14-17 DRL plugs.

If I remember correctly 20 gauge wire can handle up to 1.5 Amps. How far north of that did the bench test show?

It was 1.01 something. My driver's side headlight should be here today so I'm going to test for amp readings again when they are installed on the truck.

Nice you are half the distance to the goal, I am completely in the dark (pun intended), also did you ever get an amperage reading on the stock halogen lights? I would bet it would show similar or more current draw. I have nothing here yet I am living vicariously through you.

Does the new headlight indicate what the wattage is for low, and high beams, because if so we could just calculate the combined amperage is given that we know the voltage.

Today was the day! My driver’s side headlight arrived, so naturally I had to finish this retrofit. The low beam is 20.8w and the high beam is 14w. I tested the amp draw with the truck running and one side is drawing 1.025 amps and the other 1.045 amps. TRS had requested this information and replied letting me know that this should be ok to use because the 20-gauge wiring on the “high beam” wiring has a max output of 2amps. Of course, this information would come after I ordered a handful of relays from Amazon. Anyways I’m still going to configure a relay setup with heavier wire for those who might want a more robust high beam setup. The harness I put together and posted yesterday, connected flawlessly to the Motocontrol relay harness and works like a charm.

So 20-gauge wires for the whole harness is ok?

I just went to the dealer and checked out a 2018. Lights are awesome, Will the LED fog lights plug in to the 2016 harness?

I made my harness using 16 gauge GXL grade wiring which is recommended for under hood applications. It has a higher heat rating 257 F compared to 221 F of standard auto parts store wiring. The only 20 g wiring in my setup is on the Moto relay harness for the high beams.

I literally was going to post a topic / question asking what wire type works best for wiring in the engine compartment. I just started researching and saw there are other types of wires; normally I would have just bought "primary wire."

I'll be picking up some "cross-link" wire for the higher heat resistance.

    Thanks.

Installed my 2018 headlights today. Big thanks to thomasbuss337 for doing all the hard work with providing this community with the wiring diagram for the harness. Works perfectly.
