I missed a wire input in the last post. Here's the info copied and pasted from another source

There are three input wires: black, yellow, and white.

    • Black is GROUND, and should be connected to a constant chassis ground.
    • White is STATIC, or running light input.
    • Yellow is TURN signal input. This will also shut off the static output, so it could be treated as a "shutoff" wire for DRL applications.

    The output wires are:

    • White: static output. When power is applied to STATIC, and turn signal is not activated, it will output 12V power. For example, you might connect this to a white light to act as a running light.
    • Yellow: Turn signal output. You might connect to an amber or red LED, to become a turn signal. The static output will shut off, "switchback" style, while the turn signal is running. If you are using the TURN as a "shutoff" wire, just leave this wire disconnected.
    • Black: extra ground output. This does not need to be connected- it is an extra ground point. You can connect LEDs to ground here, or anywhere on the chassis.

Input wires are male spade connectors, with T-taps for installation. Output wires are bare leads, for connection to LEDs.

@thomasbus337 Could you please post a photo of this switchback module installed on your truck? I got my 2018 headlights to work with your help as well as some other guys but just want to make sure I install this module correctly without screwing up my harness but cutting the wrong wires. Thanks again for your help!

Oh and I'm guessing you installed this module because this is how they work on 2018 trucks?

OK, couple of stupid questions for all of you that have done the swap in preparation of doing mine.
Do the new headlights ship in a "standard" position relative to the height adjustment knob? In other words, should I set the adjuster, say to the middle setting, before swapping headlights or does it not matter?
Are most just using the stock turn signal bulb, or has anyone switched to an LED? Are the 7443 bulbs "CK" like the old 3157's?

They come shipped in the middle , the new 7444 is a weird looking bulb. I haven’t tried but pretty positive the 3157 won’t fit.

Thanks for the info on position. On the bulbs, the reason I ask is that I already had LEDs front and rear for my turn signals, so I have 1 3ohm Vled resistor mounted per side. If I use the standard bulb that ships with the 2018 headlights for the turn signals then I would need to either change my resistors to 6ohm or remove the resistors and change back to standard bulbs in the rear turns. I'd like to keep 3 ohm resistors and my rear LED turn bulbs and upgrade the new 2018 headlights to LED turn signal bulbs. I just need to know if the new front bulbs are 7443 or 7443CK. None of the online parts sites has the info for 2018's yet.

I’m using the bulbs that shipped with the headlights and didn’t remove the resistors. Seen no impact leaving them on, it’s been 6-7weeks no issues.

What is the difference between the black housing and the chrome housing

Are the lens on both clear or is the black housing a smoked lens

    Hey guys!

So I would like to switch my factory Headlights on my 2017 SR5,

I found this Harness kit on internet: https://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/p...X7xZAmrnSY3cHioFtUpZnS6WGatFWMbIaApifEALw_wcB

For what I can read in the description I will need to buy x2 of those and also 2 Relay kits: http://www.morimotohid.com/motocontrol-bi-xenon-h4-9003.html

Could anyone tell me if im on the right thing? also which bulbs should I buy for the new head lights?

having the harness and the relay kits will be just matter of plug n play or ill need to do any further modifications?

Any further instructions - guidance from those who have already done the conversion will be highly appreciated!!

    Thx.

The harness you see is for the platinum/1794 trim so it won’t work on SR5. And only 1 motocontrol will be needed, get with @iHacker he’s selling complete harness kits for your trim all plug & play.

So wait... then does the position of the lights when they ship matter then? Like when you install them won’t they just go to the dial’s setting? Or is it not controlled by the computer and more like a direct connection between the dash dial and the leveler motors themselves?

Before removing your old headlights level them in 0, then mark your hotspots against a wall at at least 25ft when install your LEDs check the aiming to see if they match with the markings in your wall if not you have to aim them using those marks

Yes the have a bolt to aim them, not sure in the 2018 LEDs but my Morimoto XB Fogs has a bolt and I aimed with the same marks as my OEM halogens

Weird. I’m on the fence between just a bulb for the fogs or the morimoto’s. How hard is it to match the color temp of the headlights and LED strips? I haven’t seen any values for those so it seems like it’s trial and error. Which could get pricey.

Either way I’m not getting the OEM 2018 fogs, it’s way too pricey after this mod. Haha

Guys, I'm writing with a question that I can't solve. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I wired in my 2018 LEDs on my '16 Pro using Eledobleu's harness. I re-pinned the turn signal as outlined, leaving the parking light (purple wire) out and taping it up. Turn signals work correctly (flashing ambers). I have not cut the grey wire inside the cab.

Everything functions as it should, except my Amber DRLs do not come on at all--as a DRL or with the headlights on. They do function correctly for turn signals, hazards, and flash when locking/unlocking, so it's not the bulbs. How can this be happening? Basically, it's as if I did the Amber DRL Delete Mod (cut grey wire) but I have not. I actually want the Amber DRL on. They did work fine before the mod.

Did you connect the purple wire to the LED DRL signal? I'm not familiar with the harness you used, but if you tie that purple wire into the signal running the LED DRL's you should have amber DRL's provided you tapped into the gray wire under the dash, rather than cutting it. I used the iHacker harness and all I did was tap the purple into his leads provided on his harness, and tapped the gray under the dash instead of cutting it.

Really appreciate the quick feedback. I think that Leo's setup is different than iHackers, the LED DRLs are powered by a fuse tap to the fuse box with no in-cab mods required. Amber DRLs should stay on without any in-cab mods. Some have chosen to cut the grey wire to disable them (which I have not). There are others using his harness that did the exact same thing I did and have the Amber DRLs functioning. I guess I'm trying to figure out the signal path for the amber DRLs...like, could a connection be loose somewhere that would cause neither side's amber DRL to function?

Check for any blown fuse, not sure if Amber DRL has one but just in case, that purple wire might touched something before you used tape on it

Doesn't the purple wire control the Amber drl?

If your led drl are high all the time and you're not using the purple wire, I would put the purple wire back on the Amber connector.

I stand corrected. :hattip:I don't know why I keep confusing what the purple wire does.
