    Do you have the SR5?
I too want the Amber DRLs to be on.
Can I just use the 1794/Platinum harness? WIll it give me the same results for the SR5 Limited?

Yeah, it's an SR5. If you have a platinum/1794, I don't believe you have the option for FULL TIME bright LED DRL since it was already wired to have the LEDs dim when the headlights turn on. Also, the 1794/Platinum don't have the purple amber marker pin because they didn't use the amber DRLs in the factory set up.

Not 100% sure tho....I'm no expert.

No you can’t use the platinum harness, you’ll have to get one or make one for the SR5

    Gotcha, thank you!
It looks like one of the connectors needed is not available yet.
    Maybe a week or 2

    @thomasbus337

I liked how clean the first approach was - only connecting to the H4 connector. So, I was thinking, what about a SPDT Relay like this - the DP relay has 2 connections - one that is normally connected (NC) and the other that is normally open (NO). I am thinking I can use the High Beam from the H4 to be the input and the trigger at the same time. The wiring diagram would look like the attached.

Normally, the relay is used to drive from pin 30 to either pin 87 or 87a -- I am thinking it should also work in reverse, selecting between the Low Beam (Normally Connected) and the High Beam (Normally Open) and driving pin to feed the Low Beam inout on the 2018 Headlight.

If this works - the nice thing is you drop the Morimoto relay harness, all the connectors, and less running of wires across the engine compartment. Just seems cleaner. And cheaper.

Now, I need to build and test this setup.

Yes that will work, that’s how I originally made my first one exactly. The motocontrol just makes everything easier for the PNP people and looks cleaner.

Well here is the latest addition to my 2018 headlight retrofit. I added in a pair of Diode Dynamics S1 switchback modules. Here they are in action with my VLED Triton V3’s

Son of a gun I just placed an order for retrofitted lights. Didn’t think the 18 lights would be able to fully function in the older models. Hats off to you guys for figuring out the wiring!!

Swapped position 1 and 2 on the blinker connector....but left the purple wire out and taped it. So you will only have positions 1 and 2 in the connector. And I did not cut the gray wire inside.

Where does the old brown plug that went to the old h4 bulb go? In the new harness?

Hey @thomasbus337 - did the folks at bm Motorsports ever source those 8-pin and 3-pin directional connectors? They are back ordered from Toyota - would be good to have an alternate source. If BM has them - do you know their part number?

    Thanks for the 8-pin connector.

How about the directional 3-pin connectors? I saw that you had posted the part numbers early on "90980-11020 for the female and male is 90980-11607" Did you find a corresponding part at BM Motorsport?

Do these use the same Sumitomo TS/SL terminals?

Did you get these off ebay as you said earlier? or did you find the matching part at BM Motorsport?

So - I got the switchback from Diode Dynamics to do the DRL cutout when the turn signal is activated. I was thingking either

Option 1 - use t-taps to grab the ground and turn signal from the 3-pin harness wires - and connect those to the Diode Dynamics switchback - and then the fuse tap signal for the DRL (I have a TRD Pro) would pass through the Diode Dynamics. I am thinking I may not need to connect the output of the Diode Dynamics to the turn signal - just the input.

This is the quick and dirty approach.

Option 2 - build a harness around the Diode Dynamics using the factory 3-pin connectors - male and female.

This is the clean approach - but I need to source the connectors, Male and Female.

The 3 way directional connectors are hard to find, they aren’t available from Ballenger specifically the 90980-11607, I ordered them from toyotapartsdeals.com and took 6 weeks to arrive they are expensive too if you buy them on eBay they cost $72 just for one harness

The 2018 Toyota headlights... the idea is to have the LED DRL turn off when the turn signal is activated. See post 702 by thomasbus337

Hey @thomasbus337 or anyone else —

Can you draw a diagram or give details of what is needed to make the DRLs go off when the signal lights are on like in post #702? Just wondering how difficult it would be and what the costs would be to make the lights work like this.

    Thanks!

So, this is weird.... I was just trying to search for the Diode Dynamics S1 switchback modules that @thomasbus337 used in post 702 and I also purchased and received -- they are no longer listed on the Diode Dynamics website.

They use to be listed as...
    S1 Switchback Module (pair)
    SKU: 2xmod-s1
    Price: $20.00

searching for the name or the SKU is not bringing anything up.

so on the input side you connect ground/turn from 3 pin harness and just the drl led on the output..will they work this way?
