One final question as if you have not done enough. Do you happen to have the Part # for the 3-prong HI/LOW Beam connector pictured above do you? It looks generic but I am not certain if Toyota has a special part # for it.

I have every part on order to make a PNP harness including the lights. I will update as it goes, @thomasbus337 is pretty much is the man that engineered the harness.

Here’s my Plan B. I’m not saying this the correct way for everyone, but it is the new way I have tried hooking it up on my 2016 Tundra SR5 and it works like factory. Originally, I had planned on using generic 3-prong headlight plugs to pull hi-low and ground but after assembling a harness and trying it out I realized that doing it this way would not let us have Hi beam and low beam at the same time, the way these new lights need to operate. The easiest way to do this now is to use a H4/9003 Bi-Xenon HID relay harness that can keep the low beams illuminated while high beams are activated.

The parts listed below can be used to make a harness that will be PnP with the existing wiring on the 2014-2017 Platinum and 1794 DRL’s. The Low beam power source and ground will be supplied from the 9006 Female “Ballast” plug and the High beam power will be supplied from the “high beam”9006 Female plug on the Motocontrol harness.

Our 14-17 Headlight level plugs and 168/194 side marker plugs will be a direct fit. Here’s where it gets a little tricky. The 2018 LED headlight uses a 7444NA bulb for turn signals only. Our current 14-17 bulb/sockets will not fit into the new 2018 housings. The three-pin plug on 2014-2017 Tundra’s will fit on the new 2018 bulb/socket, however the plug pins need to be reconfigured, which sounds difficult, but can be accomplished with a small flat head screwdriver and paper clip. The purple (park light) wire in Pin 1- (SR SR5, Limited and Pro needs to be removed from this plug. Do not cut this wire because the terminal crimped on this wire can be inserted later into Pin 2 on a 4-pin plug (90980-10869) and be used as the parking light signal to power the low DRL. Now that Pin 1 is an open spot, the white/black ground wire needs to be moved from Pin 2 over to Pin 1. Once completed, pin 1 should be white/black – ground, Pin 2 will be empty with cavity plug inserted and pin 3 will be the turn signal.

On SR/SR5 ,Limited and Pro models the factory Amber DRL needs to be deactivated. This can be accomplished by cutting a small gray wire that is around the flasher module under the dash (Search forums for exact wire). If you don’t want to cut the wire, a different flasher module (81980-0C020) is available from Toyota.

Then all you need is to configure a fused, ignition controlled relay to power Pin 1 on this 4-pin connector then you have LED DRL’s just like factory.

@thomasbus337 good job - I like the bi-xenon harness so we can keep our low beams when using the highs. Are you planning on assembling the harness and selling it?

I haven't decided if I'm going to make them and sell them yet. I've added up the cost and I'm up to $65 in parts and supplies alone for a set of PnP adapters for a Platinum/1794. I've got a plan for a set up to add LED DRL to SR,SR5,Limited and Pro models and those add about $17 more for parts.

@thomasbus337 you have to be a genius because there is NO WAY I would have EVER figured this out. Now I can upgrade my head lights with these sweet LEDs so I won't have to keep these old ugly halogen lights I have on my '16 SR5 right now. Now the only thing I'm afraid of is trying to put this together on my own. I sure hope you plan to sell this harness because I know there are several of us out here that would love to get these from you :) If you don't I'll have to find someone locally that can put this together for me.

Nonetheless - THANK YOU! for all the time and effort you took to figure this out....it is very much appreciated!

The update is awesome! Can you please supply the pinouts of your new configuration? I assume both hi/low beams will receive +/- from the relay harness. However, how do you have it pinned on the female plugs that will connect to the LED light harness? I have a '17 Platinum for reference.

The pin outs are as follows

    Pin 1 Hi Beam

    Pin 2 Low Beam

    Pin 3 not used

    Pin 4 Ground

    Pin 5 DRL HI (Bright)

Pin 6 DRL Lo (parking light)

Pin 7 not present on headlight plug

Pin 8 not present on headlight plug.

The headlight shares the single ground pin (pin 4) with Hi & Low beam and the DRL.

You could either use the ground pin on the 9006 plug that would connect on the “Ballast” output of the relay harness or run a ground from the factory ground point on the inside of the fender.

I’m running the lo-beam input wire from “ballast output” and the high beam input wire will come from the “high beam” output.

Yes, I didn't pay attention when I drew on the picture. If I were to do it this way the hi/low would be backwards.

Sorry, yes it will. I've been typing SR, Sr5 and Limited, guess I should edit it and add PRO.

Why is there a low DRL and a HI DRL? Headlights off it dims & headlights on they are brighter?

Thanks for supplying all the materials/quantity. Went ahead an ordered everything. Total ran me about $130 between Toyota, TRS, bmotorsports. You weren't kidding when you said the total was up there just in parts.

Thomas your the man! I would never thought of the bi xenon relay harness. I'm on vacation and have all the items ordered. Hopefully when I get home they will be waiting for me so I can make my new harness and install my new lights!!!

Would someone be willing to make a video of putting their harness together? I'm hesitate to do this on my own without seeing it done. I'm a complete newbie when it comes to wiring and lighting. It would be a big help to see one of you guys putting this thing together. Hope one of you guys are willing to do this. Thanks again @thomasbus337 for the work you did to make this happen!

I swear, whatever you end up charging for the PnP harness (if you decide to sell them) - it'll be worth it...I knew I should've studied a bit more on electrical engineering when I was younger :D

I will for sure. Just a matter of getting all the parts. I still need the headlamps also. Not sure what the ETA is on the headlights.

I hope someone will be so kind to write up or better yet a video for us non-DRL SR5 owners so we can see what is needed to be done on our trucks. From thomasbus337 posts there is a little more work to do on SR5 trucks that didn't come with LED factory lighting (we just have the orange/amber DRL).

Thanks again everyone for your efforts and information!
